I was just in Granite Falls yesterday! Love it! I checked on the city data crime chart for the town and it said crime is high compared to the national average for a town this size, I found that hard to believe. I know it’s your hometown so I thought I would ask you. Thanks for the videos!
I would say that it's probably accurate. Maybe not necessarily violent crimes such as murder, which is very rare, but lots of burglary and theft, and even drug use.
Thank you for the video! I just looked at some homes in Granite Falls and I absolutely loved it! So charming. My mom just bought in Hickory and I really like Hickory, however I think I would rather live in a smaller more quiet town. I went into the Pharmacy in your town and it was like going back in time, and to be honest I want to go back to a better time!! I will be seriously looking in one years time. I hope I can find something!
@@NCMemoryMakers Granite Drug Center. We had a little drug store in town called Coopers where I grew up but all the CVS and Walgreens ran the family business out of town. I stopped in and spent 20.00 and got some cute holiday items that were marked down. I like to keep local businesses going. The woman were very kind!
@@trishalantz1498 Yes, there was a Radio Shack there. Not sure how long it's been gone. I've not been in the drugstore in a long time, but there is a little place called Huffy's that is connected to it, and they have some great sandwiches and milkshakes. We go there pretty often.
Thanks for taking us on a tour of your town. I really enjoyed watching your video. Your town reminds me of our town. We also just recently got a Walmart and ours is a lot smaller. You talking about the Walmart in your town not being stocked well. You haven't see anything until you look at ours. I was impressed with your free throw record. That is wonderful!! Thanks again for sharing.
Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed it. What impressed me about your video, was that there's actually a place where you drive through the river. I'd never seen anything like that. That was pretty cool.
@@NCMemoryMakers and that’s a state highway as well. I don’t know where any other roads are like this. In the summer there will be kids playing in the water.
I'm 64 years old....and I will always love snow! I'm always reminded of the verse of scripture that says..."though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow....." (Isaiah 1:18). Always brings a smile to my face. 🥰 You made me kinda nervous there a few times....lol! Those roads look bad in places.... 😬 I laughed out loud when you said "dog alert"...lol! Hope you guys are feeling better soon! 👍👍
The snow is beautiful, I don't like to get out in it anymore, I worry about falling and breaking a bone I'm glad Shawnasi is starting to feel better. I was thinking Shawnasi was a nurse, I must be thinking of someone else. Y'all should go to the Biltmore, plan on being there all day if you want to see it all. I enjoy a good pizza, I like one at least once a month. Thanks for the tour around your town, I enjoyed the ride.
Okay I gotta ask I didn’t hear you say cause I can’t hear very good , but whose Boxer is that ? I am Boxer crazy I have 4 .. 3 that looks like that and a brindle ! I love them ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I went with my son to the Honda place in Granite Falls to get wheels for his ATV.I said ,don’t somebody else close have them? He said,no they have them in stock. It’s the first time I’ve ever been to Granite Falls.
That snowfall on Christmas of 2010, was beautiful. I actually made a video of that, but it's not on this channel. If you go to my other channel...DerrickH1969, you can find that on there. I think it's titled "Merry Christmas From Granite Falls, NC". Yes, this winter was very disappointing for snowfall. I thought we were going to have a rough winter, given how cold it was on Christmas Eve. But it basically got warm in March, and has mostly stayed warm.
@@NCMemoryMakers I've seen that other video of yours from then, even though I didn't know it was yours. I still live in Caldwell County, in Lenoir, for the past 16 years, but it's still Caldwell County. I go through Granite all the time, sometimes just driving through the back roads just because I want to. I grew up going to church in the Dudley and Grace Chapel area, and I worked for the school system (at Granite and Dudley Shoals Elementary) in the after school program for 5.5 years. I've enjoyed watching your videos since I found the Captains Galley one last weekend. Y'all talked about Henry River in this video, my dad's side of the family actually has connections to that area when the mill was still in operation.
@@gmanandhislady Well, we are very glad you found our channel. My mother lives in Lenoir, as well. Yes, I made that Christmas video back then, mainly because of the excitement of the snow happening on Christmas day. I remember it starting that morning, and continuing pretty much until that night. Maybe we'll run into you one day and can meet you. If you happen to see us, say "hello".
@@gmanandhislady I'm curious if you have tried the new Mexican restaurant in downtown Lenoir, next to Aary's Ice Cream? We have been talking about trying it, and trying to make a video to let others know about it.
@@NCMemoryMakers I would love to meet y'all in person! It sounds like your wife was getting over Covid at the time. I remember I was getting over Covid at the time as well. The snow was welcomed because I got an extra week off of work, because of the snow, to fully recover. I was still working for the school system at the time. Y'all seem like such awesome people!
Oh, wow. Thanks for sharing that with us. I grew up here myself, and we have lived here for our entire marriage. So glad that you enjoyed this video, and that it brought back memories for you.
