The effect is called nucleation. The liquid is supercooled and just needs to be kickstarted for the effect to happen. Basically shaking it let's a starting crystal form and then each one after that latches on and creates a lattice of crystals. Very neat thing. 💎❄️
It is literally super cool. Nonetheless i like the explanation of Pointless Nostalgia - Guy Hutchinson also, very good for non-trained physicists.
An MVP suddenly appears...
Best bet of science fact i seen :3
It is because the liquid in the bottle is supercooled - the temperature of the liquid is below its normal freezing point, but the liquid has still not turned into a solid. That's because it needs something to kick-start the freezing process and encourage a small number of the liquid molecules to get together in a regular arrangement, as they do in a crystal, instead of moving around independently as they do in the liquid.
The process is called nucleation
That’s super cool 😎
Thanks for explaining that! Totally wild. I love science.
There have been World’s Fairs since 1972 (Knoxville) and 1974 (?New Orleans) but they have been in Asian countries!
My mini fridge in college would chill sodas to that perfect point. You'd crack one open and it would get slushy ice for about an inch. Absolutely perfect cold.
Sadly the Launching Pad is permanently closed for the time being, since the owners are going some personal things. The writing on the fence is from one of the owners who flipped their lid.
Sciency Guy here: The ice had fallen asleep but by shaking the bottle you woke it up.
@pinkaholic30 Thank you. In fact, if you watch the scene with the volume up you can hear it snoring inside the bottle.
H2O is tired 🥱 well done great explanation 😅
Wild.
@@blainesellars1548 partying all night.
Any good places to stay at, in Valparasio, Jacob?
I'd argue that if you are still freezing, then even two hoodies isn't the appropriate gear for the weather conditions. Maybe look around at what other people are wearing and match it? The thickness is important but also the material coats/socks made of (ie wool, Polar fleece, etc) and having a layer that blocks the wind can really make a difference.
I can't imagine looking at the taxidermy mount of one of my pets....... It seems like it would be more difficult to get over them dying. Strange.
I really do appreciate these videos. I have never traveled a lot and have never really had the opportunity to do so. But I feel like I am a traveling soul. These videos really help me with that and gives me a super cozy and comfortable feeling. It is amazing to see these places and live vicariously through your videos.
His videos are my go to for when I need a comfy vibe 😌
So all I need is a cold bottle of water and it will work?? Lol
Being a railroad man's daughter I loved the train.
You are a super hardy dude to sit outside in the freezing snow n wait to see a train 🚂!!! Awesome that you brought up the World's Fair in America!!!! If I am am still alive 65:yrs old - I will watch thru you cuz I doubt I could make it now through a World's Fair let alone in 4 yrs!!!! Nice to know you will try to be there!!!
Hello from Gatlinburg TN!!! Can't wait to have you back in town!🌄🏞️
In the Midwest we call wearing multiple hoodies, layering. Saw someone at the gas station a couple of days ago wearing a t-shirt and shorts. It was 6F. Jacob, you're closer to what I consider 'normal' than you know.
Wow we call it layering here in California too!
We call it layering everywhere I’m pretty sure
Thanks for some more, "A Christmas Story" information.
Eeee! I hope we do have a World Fair. That would be so AWESOME!!!
Another fine video Jacob especially the water trick. Grandsons are sticking water bottles outside as I type this😂😂😂
You were talking about you wearing hoodies. Then a commercial came on about LL Bean's winter gear . It was ironic. Then you were at the train platform freezing. Glad you made it back to the warm car ! Thank you for braving the cold to bring us your video !
For your next introduction change, I’d like to see you ride a train, a boat, and a dirigible in that order.
Since that’s how you do your outro.
I want a camel biting him at the end. 🤣
Vlogs like these of small-town America are my favorite, does feel like we're right there with you 🙂
Great Video as always Jacob. I think it's a hoot that it is February and you still wear your crocs.
You rock the video world Jacob ! Keep up the great job and as always we are with you.
TRAINS!!! Thanks Again Jacob for being awesome!!!
I ordered a pin...lol and my mom accidently threw it away 😬😂 so now I feel I have to order another 😂 great video!
Just FYI- Jean Shepherd said in 'A Christmas Story, both in the book and the movie...."it (the leg lamp) could be seen up and down Cleveland Street..."
Glad you got to see a train 🚂 after your long hike. Would have been tragic if they had all migrated to Florida. Thanks Jacob.
Stay safe out there, CB!!
Next to the Jean Shephard plaque is a portrait of Octave, Chanute after whom my current hometown of Chanute, Kansas is named. The model that Jacob took to be that of the Wright Brothers Flyer I is actually a replica of the glider built by Octave, Chanute. He was a French born railroad developer who collected notes and research from all people attempting mechanized flight. A friend of Orville and Wilbur, they used his notes to achieve ultimate success at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina on December 17, 1903. A mobile sculpture of this event graces Chanute's Main Street next to a mural of Octave himself. His glider is part of our city seal/logo. The now defunct Chanute Air Force Base south of Chicago is now an aviation museum and includes artifacts about Octave.
Hey Jacob raining in laurinburg today watching you now hope you have awesome safe time there spend some time with your family and enjoy the love being together. See you soon back on the road on your adventures praying your car fixed soon too. Much love from us.
Woodstock Illinois is where the film groundhog day was filmed. It is ground hog day. It could be a town to check out.
Glad you made it back to Valpo! The pizza puff at King Gyros was the high school staple! Safe travels!
Smashing vlog yet again Jacob I really enjoy every single one you produce....A little bit of nice and quite in a nasty loud world..XXX
Awesome place very historic, thanks for sharing Jacob, your the man, Take Care 😎📸
i love to see the real real christmas story and your hometown museum.
i love seeing your tours of museums.
Stay warm Jacob! Does your rental have a remote start so you can warm up your car? Might have to get some Croc boots! Have you see them, you could totally rock them!!!
The train station just reminded me of when you came there before and that one kid was totally stoked about trains!
Good to hear you are doing good now.
Hey carpetbagger! Welcome to Springfield! I know you have already been through last night but welcome to my hometown we love your channel. Love you stopping by my city.
Also dug Atlanta's downtown n the muffler men n smiley towers!! You are an amazing narrator!!!Attaboy, Carpetbagger!!!!
I’ve seen a water bottle do that before. It’s mind blowing
Hi CB, been ages since I have watched many videos of any sort on UA-cam, good to see that you are well. (The Steaming Bean).
Lol hoodies? One word my man, polyester, One polyester jacket is better than multiple cotton hoodies. If I wore a hoodie in below freezing weather, I'd die from hypothermia. I need a puffer jacket, gloves, boots, and a knitted hat to cover my head/ears and a face scarf for when it's windy.
Good time of year to see that Flick statue, probably doesn't have the same effect in summer.
we will get you there no matter what
While in St.Louis head to nearby Livingston Illinois, and check out the Pink Elephant. They have a large pink elephant, a Uniroyal Gal, and a (not sure if he is a muffler man)big guy that was in a movie. And a spaceship. Have fun this weekend
Next time you travel through Hammond, get you a Zels roast beef and a shake. YUM!
I 2nd this recommendation!
Use to run around Atlanta, IL quite a bit when i use to work down that way. Always stopped at the Palms Grill to eat.
Neat seeing your water freeze up.
I'm from Toledo-OH.
Cold weather is life.
I'm from Norway cold weather is life
Hi! Love your vlogs. Just wondering when you are going to replace the pin on the front of your hat? I believe you lost your pin at the time of your car accident, glad you are OK. I have OCD and I keep on focusing on that empty spot on your hat, lol. Thank you! Stay safe!
so glad to see you up and running again ...many wishes of good times to come !!
Good Afternoon Jacob 🙋🏽. I hope you have a wonderful day 💖 this place is quite creepy at night in Atlanta Indiana 🧐
my cousin lives in Valpo IN the muffler man head is big, cool history vlog Jacob 👍🏼
I know it was dark but you missed McLean again! That is the arcade town above Atlanta I was telling you about. Maybe next time through 😊
Enjoyed this video very much.
That sandwich looks fantastic.
Gaaa, the license thing was insane...the water freezing instantly is just magic, lol. Be safe.
A friend of mine is going to interview Paul Zaza very soon (did the music for Christmas Story movie and many other awesome movies) for her podcast "Final Girl Friday" !!!
The Giant was made by Bill Swan when he worked for Mr Pruitt at international fiberglass
Jacob, it would be nice if you could name the roads that you that you travel on. I like to follow on the map, and even if I go to the town, I don't know the exact route you took. Thxs
My childhood was a Sears bungalow just like the writer of a Christmas story
I live about 15 minutes from Hammond/Cal City and went to high school in Park Forest. So cool! Glad to see you in my neck of the woods. Midwesterners unite!
That was really neat with the water bottle . Some of those travel centers are really awesome . Seeing the real Christmas story house was so cool. I think it might be a good idea to invest in a winter jacket especially if you are going to do more train watching LOL Great video.Keep Safe ❤Keep Well❤
Enjoyed replay thanks for sharing your channel 😀
Bless Daisy / Chisholm's heart, but that taxidermy feels a little Uncanny Valley...
Its funny that almost every WELCOME CENTER i get to...theres always a cracker barrel next door. Lol...
Carpetbagger I enjoy t
Your videos so much and I really enjoy getting the postcards every month. I make sure that I do Patreon for my niece. She looks forward to getting a postcard from you. We both have them in photo albums so some day after I'm gone, someone else will enjoy looking at my postcards..
Stay safe...
Thank you Jacob for Braving the Cold and letting us view a Train be careful on your way to Saint Louis !
Man, I wish I would’ve known you were in the neighborhood I live in Lansing Illinois. I work for Fedex so I know exactly where you’ve been for the most part up in this area.
Get him a warm coat and send it by fedex
The area he went to to look at the trains. It’s pretty neat when it’s a lot warmer. I can relate with the tears coming from his eyes in the cold. But yeah that’s the area I once in a while do I’ve never been up there so now I’m gonna have to go up there and take a look. there is actually another area. I’m not sure if he knows about in Griffith, Indiana off of Broad Street. There’s a set of trains set an off to the side if he’s ever back in that area.
Thanks for your information 👍 🙂
And this muffler man and smiley face water tower in the air 😀👍
Bloomington MN is an hour away from me. That would be awesome 😎
I live in Springfield, Illinois. Wish I had known you were going to stop here.
I've wondered about the world's fair so I'm glad to hear that it might return. Also Texas is super crazy with their inspections stickers
I love that Railfan park, that is so neat. My grandma and mom would had loved it. I would stay with my grandma for a couple weeks during the summer in a sm sm town in ks called LeRoy. The living room end of the home pointed down the street and the train tracks, so gma and I would guess how many engines and cars and if it more than one caboose. Then when the train came the game was on. Everytime I see a train I think in my mind and say ok gma it is on and I look up and blow her a kiss. JACOB I really enjoy your vlogs they down to earth and I love seeing all these places. Drive safe and keep on booking along.
The town Hohman came from the main street in Hammond..Hohman Avenue
So quite in at😮😅Atlanta
Indiana has wonderful gyros. None here in TN, unfortunately, unless they are processed and Arby's doesn't count. I learned to make them myself from scratch. Easier than you might think. I made a video on how to do it on my channel. And YES, it doesn't get better than a Vienna Beef Chicago style hot dog.
Wow! That registration stuff is mind hurting🤯 I'm happy to hear that everything is all good and legal😻
If you want to find a train, just follow its tracks! 🤪
That joke is childish and immature and I'm irritated that I didn't think of it first.
I'm actually from Laporte and I had NO IDEA THIS EXISTED
I will be watching if you do the WORLDS FAIR..aaawww love the dog that was preserved I remember the mom from a Christmas story from Close Encounters ..I am a train Enthusiast
Jacob, you need to watch some Steve Lehto videos on that sort of issue with rental cars.
"Look how big his head is compared to mine" Hey Jacob, giants have feelings too! 😂
Wow I never knew that there was a place called Atlanta Illinois
You should travel to Berwyn (BERRR-WYNNNN!) next.
The ice in your car is slightly below. It will stay a liquid until it finds a nucleation point Ie something to start forming ice crystals on. When you shake it it latches onto the cap and does so hence why it's freezing from the top down
thats a lot better than gas station food.
You made me laugh when you said the Muffler Man was, "holding his big hotdog aloft" 🤣🤣 I know, lol, it's childish to giggle at that, but honestly Carpetbagger, Jacob, you always make mine and my partner's day!!! 💖 We can just relax to the sound of your voice 😊 You're awesome 😎👍
Water becomes frozen explanation: A lil shake n a lil bake.
Great video Jacob ✌😎✌🇺🇸
Great emoji robert 👍👍♻️
22:31 Quinton Tarantino holding a hotdog.
Spot on the inspection registration stuff!
You need a hooded parka. Enjoyed the vlog.
Lol Jacob is such a worry wart
I’m from Georgia. Columbus Georgia. About 30 to 45 minutes apart. 😊
We have a smiley water tower in my home town of west branch mi
You should visit the leg lamp statue in Chickasha, OK sometime. It’s a permanent statue.
I live in TX we don't have inspection stickers. That is the TX state registration sticker that expires January 2023. They may have other things in place because it's a rental car but just to be safe I wouldn't drive thru TX with that sticker 😉.
Hi JACOB!! IT ISENT GETTING ANY WARMER IS IT?
Have a great day, Jacob ❤️
Fellow region rat here.....I enjoy the videos
OH IS THAT HOW THAT WORKS?
Hey Jacob, my son's school is doing mouse races Friday night we are in the St Louis area😉
It's " Magic "
