I had visited' The Christmas Story' House over 10 years ago, when I toured it, I was able to see most of the house, also back then, they didn't allow people to spend the night at the house. Also, my tour guide was the delivery man from the movie, and I got his autograph.
I used to exchange emails with Darren McGavin back in the '90s. It was shortly after his wife passed away. I was doing some Kolchak artwork, and I had emailed it to his website, and was amazed that he responded to me. Not his agent or his webmaster, but the actor himself! He was such a nice guy. He loved my artwork, but said that I should make his ears longer! He said that he had "ears like a gremlin", and it's part of his "roguish, good looks"! lol. I probably emailed him about six times, and each time, he sent a great reply. A year or so later, he passed away. KOLCHAK THE NIGHT STALKER is one of my most favorite tv shows ever, and Darren's performance in the show is why. He added legitimacy to A CHRISTMAS STORY, and "the Old Man" scenes remain some of the most memorable until this day! Nice video, Adam! I'm glad you enjoyed yourself!

I fell in love with this house from the first time I saw it in the theatre in 1983, of course not realizing that the inside was a studio, they did a great job in making us believe that they filmed it all in that area when actually a good 90 to 95 percent of the movie was filmed in Toronto. A little fun fact, they filmed the deer hunter in the factory that you see from the Christmas story house.

@@ianswank7712 There's a great German restaurant where they brew their own beer too in downtown. I went on a Wednesday and it was hopping with an oompah band jamming out.

Cleveland Ohio. Cleveland is the birthplace of Superman it’s where the superman creators Jerry Siegel and Joe Schuster are from. I love the Christmas story that’s one of my favorite movies
Love this house! Visited it the 2nd year it was open. At that time the Bumpus house next door wasn't part of the property yet. He wasn't aware of the filming at the time, but was shocked to see how close he was to it at the time. Thanks for video... loved seeing what the private quarters looks like.
Greg's Game Room, the modern kitchen on the second floor is there to serve the 'loft' apartment in the attic/3rd floor. It approximately occupies where the parents' bedroom would have been in the movie house; notice that in this house, there is only one bedroom, and it is the boys' room. Keep in mind that very little of the interior shots in the movie were actually filmed in this house, which was used primarily for exterior shots and those interior shots that were looking out doors and windows. The layout of this house approximately matches the movie's house set, but there are still a lot of small differences in the layout. The Woo got some things wrong in his calculations on where scenes were filmed; they might not have explained those well in his tour, but on the tour I was on when I stayed there overnight, the tour guide was pretty specific in this regard.
Darren Mc Gavin was the lead actor in this! When my mom worked at Universal Studios in the 1960's as an executive secretary, one time she took my brother's and I to one of the sets.
