I know this is tragedy as light humor. And i love that. However.....this makes my stomach hurt. As a parent of a college kid. I busted my ASS getting her through Grammar, Middle and HS. Shes been on the Honor Roll every marking period since 2nd grade. My husband and I both work 2 jobs.
Applying for scholarships and fasfa was an additional full time job. She was accepted to all 6 colleges she applied to. Went to her top choice.
After her first year, we could no longer afford the tuition and dorm room. She is now back home in a community college waiting to transfer to an undergrad school closer to home.
Like Trevor said: every parent wants the BEST for their kids.
Ppl like me and so many others, actually RAISE their kids to be the best. While these low life parents LAUGH at their decption and lies.
Creating a whole new generation of incompetent, inhumane, lairs and cheats. This really makes me nauseous. 😞😒 that my kid has to share a planet with those kids, who are completely unworthy.💯

Both my kids were in scholar/honors programs and depending on the degree they do have great scholarships. One kid is a graduating writing major with a minimal 12k loan. @SKG It's not that AA treats Asians bad. it's these elite colleges. They only want rich white people in. Asians can fool themselves into thinking they are white, but they aren't Anglo Saxon white lol. AA was made to help give black people the chance to attend these schools, because the system kept them impoverished and socially unacceptable to these schools. So if a school has to fill a quota they will fill it with black people to keep up with diversity requirements, and dismiss the talented asian for C+ Brad. Black people stay telling Asians they will never see Asians as one of them, so long as it's look out for white people first. Lol

    • @P0k3D0nd3M4cG
      @P0k3D0nd3M4cG 5 років тому +37

@SKG first of all, whites run everything so their own kind receiving preferential treatment shouldn't come as a surprise. Secondly, im sure there are other factors that contribute to AA other than race, like socioeconomic standing, gender, etc. Statistically, White women benefit the most ftom AA. *Generally* East Asians are exceptionally well off and thus have access to a lot of preparatory programs Black and Brown students probably wouldn't; getting a 4.0+ with money and resources at your disposal doesn't look as good as doing the same in environments that aren't the most conducive to academic success. That's why Asians get "shafted" so hard. They're aren't White but they typically don't have to struggle as much as the other groups.

@@stephenheath8465 Its one thing to say that's how things are. Pretending that things can't change is ludicrous. Black people would still be sitting in the back of the bus with idiotic statements like that. Scandals like this can't be brushed off. These people need to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. To deter others from doing/continuing the same actions. Further investigations must continue into these schools to see how deep this issue affected the admissions system, and other schools must face further oversight to prevent this. Only with action will these things change. Accepting them as this is how things are is not acceptable.

You don't understand, Wesly, in the USA the sentence "I've been to an elite college" itself grants access to top jobs they wouldnt get if they had been merely to a normal community college. And even more importantly, it's about connections: Meeting the children of other superrich powerful families, and their parents, and gaining access to that network, one that children from poorer families who got into college on a sponsorship will still never be able to access because they will never get invited to those parties and events.

@@TF2CrunchyFrog oh my goodness. You can understand something AND have a negative opinion about it.
In the USA, we understand that jaywalking is illegal, but we think it's stupid and usually don't obey that law.
I fully comprehend the various reasons WHY these people wanted their kids to attend these elite universities, AND I think those reasons are dumb because their amount of wealth enables them to do things independent of status.
For example, imagine Bob has no status and no money and wants to be an author. Bob works his way into an elite college, joins a fraternity, socializes with the right alumni, graduates with honors, and uses his degree and new status to join the best publishing firm in the whole country.
Joe, is the son of a famous actress who has 6 million dollars just sitting around that she doesn't need. He also wants to be an author, so he writes a book and then asks his mom to give him a million bucks for him to market it.

I should have suggested they pay for many of the kids tuitions that go to the college or pay for the local schools supplies and whatever needs fixing for the next 18 years. By the way you can call me that name all you want, but I am not one who lied to the IRS, tried to get my kid into a school because I have millions of dollars to spend on my kid to get into university through cheating and lying. Even if I had money to spend on my kid, I would pay for their tuition through a 5-9 plan and help them get through basic education while pushing them to do extra curriculars, volunteer, and work towards getting an honest ACT/SAT score.

I don’t know who started that lie. “money can buy you happiness.” I have heard if you tell a lie for a very long time, people will begin to believe the lie, live the lie, and repeat the lie.
Happiness has always been internal and an illusion has always been external. There is a big difference between happiness and an illusion. Happiness is obeying God’s law; therefore, it can never be brought nor can it be sold. An illusion is a false or misleading impression of reality and can only be purchased with money.
      Matthew 22:36-40

37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

The sad thing about this whole scandal is that buying their kids' way into certain colleges is just a status symbol and bragging rights for the rich parents. To them it's comparable to buying a luxury apartment or a Hermes handbag. If their kids aren't smart enough to get into the school on their own merit, it means they probably don't have the ability to keep up with the difficulty and pace of the classes in those schools to really learn. So in the end, going to college isn't about education, it's just treated as another commodity.

What does it say about the biases in admissions in these 'selective" institutions? What about the students who get in b/c dad donated a library, a science building or some other monetary donation that is buying the spot directly from the elite University or College? Let this also be a lesson for employers who select students from these elite institutions thinking they are the brightest. What about all the help they get once in the institution? What about those inflated GPA's? The best student is the one who usually has to pay for college, can't afford the Ivy or Liberal Arts 50K a year institution, and instead goes to a state university, even may be starts in a community college first in order to reach their academic or professional dreams. We have misplaced our values in these "elite network societies" that are telling who does and from where a student is good enough. Like mom said: "the best prepared students and employers are the ones who have to go through state schools where everything is there, but you have to figure it out, and then work your butt off for a grade that most likely will be a lot lower than if you went to one of these schools. My mom retired from one of these highly ranked institutions and this is her humble opinion.

Guess I can be even more proud of the degrees I’ve earned. My dad a hospital janitor and gardener and my mom a house cleaner rarely could help me with homework. No hand holding during applications. No college visits. I had one shot at taking the SATs there wasn’t money for multiple tries. Despite all this I got in to UC Berkeley with a financial aid offer of tuition covered. I also got another scholarship that helped cover books. I worked part time to cover any other expenses. So forgive me if I don’t shed a tear for these privileged families. My parents did want something better for me. That’s why they came over. But just like they worked for every dollar earned. They expected me to work for everything I got. I will forever be thankful that they always believed in me.

    • @LoveLaw

Warsan Artan if you read the document some parens went out of their way to hide it from the kids. No one had the SAT’s taken for them. They took the SAT and the parents had the invigilator change their answers after the kids leave. Kid genuinely believes they got the score they received on their own. What I don’t believe is that the kids who got in on fake athletic abilities did not know. If you get early admission because of you arbility in a sport you never played you must know that is b.s. Lori’s daughter was copied in emails so she definitely knew. But other parent’s tapped phone calls showed long conversations about hiding it from the kid.

Actually some did and some really didn’t know, some parents paid extra to keep their kids from the truth of how they got in, there were a few who even complained that they were getting emails from the coaches to come for practice and would say ‘no I’ve never ran track’ and the parents would panic calling the woman who they bribed asking why their kids are still getting emails? it’s an intriguing read, CW-1 (Cooperating Witness 1) sold them all down the river!
