Man so many impressive design features. They really did a stand up job engeeering this thing. Mines showing up on Friday I can't wait to start using it
I have the gopro7 and this dji product is going in the right step. The screen in the front, the screw on lens, and the ability to remove the fisheye effect are very good upgrades. The abilities to take high quality photos is good too but most people arent buying these products for that. Still good to have. The stabilization however is not close with regards to the gopro 7. That hypersmooth is still king. I feel while using this cam isnt gonna impressive quite as you'd expect for action activities but where i think i will shine is for vlogging. That stabilization is sufficient for that and with the ability to remove the fisheye effect, thats golden.
I agree there is some great features of this new camera. I’m going to do more in-depth look at the stabilization in upcoming videos. Maybe my examples with the best but the stabilization is actually quite good I would almost have to say it’s at least on par with GoPro if not slightly better
@@AirPhotography you may be right. A proper side by side comparison is in order. Probably a dual mount system while testing to really show any discrepancies.
Yes I have a nice dual mount that I tend to use in the past when comparing the different versions of go pros. It’s not a scientific test by any means but it does give a good example. And I think people will be interested in that definitely
So far so good I’ve only edited a little bit with the osmo action footage. But I have run into no problems so far. Now mind you I haven’t tried 4K 60 yet. I will be doing some tests with that soon
awesome video. question is their a way to setup the quickshot to where when i press the record button it will start recording and use the front screen instead of the backcreen? happened to me a few times but I dont know how i did it.
MysticMaven mine does it’s the 2 recent videos but just an fyi you need a good exporter to actually get good resolution when exporting and I’m having trouble with that
Impressive. Not a GoPro killer but definitely competition and maybe a step above. I came to your channel 1st. One thing I would like to see in your reviews is how easy or difficult it is to get the camera into the housing vs the go Pro. Also battery life etc. thankfully I don’t need an action camera right now but if I did it would probably be the DJI system.
What I'm concerned about is the handling noise on a pole as the gopro 7 is terrible, any issues with the Osmo? I want to buy it but I don't want to be disappointed.
Thanks for the quick review... was waiting to see what they came out with... currently I have 2 Hero 5 Blacks... may have to get this to add to my collection of action cams... I use mine for mountain biking and video taping for my UA-cam channel.
I think DJI is offering a trade-in program coming soon. May be worth taking a look at To trade in one of your old cameras to help cut the cost back a bit
I like the more natural look of the OSMO, detail & sharpness is Great! The mic is not bad either for a small action camera. It makes me wonder what Hero will bring for the 8? The Hero has a real competitor with the OSMO now.
My preferred setting is 4K HDR, fantastic videos in this mode. The only drawback is that in 4K HDR, stabilization is not available and the dewarp mode renders the video quite nauseous due to the lens distortion on both sides.
Amazing, looks great! What impresses me about DJI is the firmware updates, I have seen this on the Osmo Pocket. I expect some rapid fire firmware updates as users start to suggest improvements. Welcomed competition for GoPro, what lucky consumers we are!
I agree this competition is really going to keep prices in check and really fuel innovation. And you were right I’m assuming we will see new features added regularly as they tend to do with all their products to improve them and I had new features
is the wide view as good as the hero 7 black with rocksteady enabled 4k 30fps in super view is pretty killer with hypersmoothe enabled on the hero 7 just wondering if its as good with the same settings on the osmo ???
Thanks for the in depth review. You mentioned it's compatible with the Feiyu G6, but in the specs it looks like it's about 5mm thicker than the Hero 7. Did you mount it in the G6 to confirm it would fit without any modification?
Thanks for the review. Camera looks good. The Front screen is something I've wanted for years on my GoPros. But DJI really missed an opportunity by not including a 3.5mm audio jack IMO.
Good video thx, but I just as a wedding videographer I just bought the gopro 7 and shot and edited ALOT Of vid with the gopro and am really happy with it but for bloggers or just for casual shooting (non pro use) I would also recommend the dji the longer battery life and the front being the main reason but color correcting the gopro vid it's just better
Can you zoom in and out with this camera? How does it perform the heat? Had GoPro 7 when recording softball games about 70 minutes long, in Houston 100 plus heat, everyones GoPro’s would shutdown.
The true test for me is stabilization. I record a lot of my motorcycle trips. The hero 7 black was the first camera that conquered the Harley Shake, and our horrible Michigan roads add in another layer of testing for stabilization. Hope to see a field test on a motorcycle with this camera soon. 👍
films el paraiso I’m totally happy with the Hero 7s stabilization, so losing field of view for me would be a dealbreaker. Thanks for the information on this @films el paraiso 👍

If I didn't have an Hero Black 7 already I might consider the Osmo Action but I have the Hero 7 and there is not enough difference to make me spend another $350.
I say it’s currently the best action cam. It handles better than the gopro, and it has more natural color. The biggest thing it lacks is battery life. It would be great if OSMO increases the battery life to 1 hour continuously recording 4K 60p rocksteady and dewarp activated.
Yes I did, and it did not recognize it at all. I’m assuming they’ll have a different style for this as it would be a little fragile sticking out the side. But who knows maybe they will enable it via firmware update.
Hi, great video, have a question Is camera create that AEB photo from 3 with different exposure photos by it self or need to use a program on laptop/pc?
To merge them into one HDR photo, yes you will need third-party software. There are some available for a mobile devices. I do believe there are some free ones out there. The good ones do cost money however such as photomatix or Aurora 2019. I’m working on a full video showing the steps

You can go to 11 m without additional housing. I have not had a chance to test the footage underwater.
will it power from the power bank with the battery removed?
Good question I have not tested that. I will test it out shortly and get back to you
And I just got a hero 7 black, finally some competition.
This Competition should really push technology and keep the prices low
@@AirPhotography maybe, just maybe, this is all we needed to get a proper mic jack built-in the next GoPro.
It’s such a simple thing. Consumers have been complaining about it for many years. I don’t know why gopro Just doesn’t give in and put one in the unit. And maybe you’re right to try and get the edge back maybe they will
@@AirPhotography they can't be possible making money with the adapter to justify it. But now with big competition it's going to be a game changer. Circular camera filters would be awesome.
Can i use it with my DJI gimbal osmo 2 thanks
I’m not sure hundred percent at this time. I own one as well and I will be doing some testing with it I’m assuming with some form of adapter it should work
Thanks you.
Would you be willing to share (URL) the HDR Software that you use?
Rock steady is available when shooting in 4K30 but not available when shooting in 4K60,
I can expect we will be seeing a ton of updates via firmware over the coming months And perhaps we will get 4K 60 stabilization
@@AirPhotography I think they've already released 2 updates!
Too bad the filters and the battery charger are not available so sad
That is a common issue when DJI releases new products, they are always out of stock on launch day. That is something they definitely need to work on.
What is that front LCD ?
Just as stated it’s a front LCD that you can use when vlogging or taking selfie’s to help line up your shot. Also great for Moto vloggers and mountain bikers to get self facing shots and know you’re in frame
Back when dji and gopro got along so well
Thankyou
Pretty good price point for this camera also
WOW !!! thanks
Thanks for watching 🙂
Nice
There is now an external mic adapter available.
Yeah the video is smooth but anyone notice its a bit bouncy feeling
That is me I have a messed up back in a bad leg from a bad car accident a few years ago, can you imagine what it would be like without stabilization LOL
Waiting for a dji osmo action vs Gopro7 comparison!
I'm sure you won't have very long to wait.
