Amazing video Josh! I love seeing this, a company investing in America and proud enough to show the build process to the world. You don’t find any of the other big HVAC brands opening up their plants to show them off on UA-cam.
Hello Joshua; I watched that tour of Daikin's new factory in Houston and it's fantastic. Enjoyed every minute of it; just couldn't make any comments then.
I was impacted positively by my visit there a few months ago. I even would work there if it were not 2 hours away. I loved the setting and the multicultural format was humbling. The kitchen though! Yum!
Oh wow just seen the entire video you should definitely make a part 2 didn't even realize daikin was this big 😳 i work there i am thinking of working here for a while meanwhile fund my goals yeah daikin is a good working environment i cannot deny that love working here maybe in the near future would like to promote daikin with my influence right now very small
@@NewHVACGuide maybe so goodman was going through so many changes back then located in the heights area of houston cooling and furnace plants i worked in both it was a real hard environment to work in extremely hot in those plants did i say hot lol yes its not like we made air conditioner or something lol but yes now they are daikin but still make amana and goodman units they kept the name
Thats a lot of overhead to support...makes you wonder just how much of the wholesale price or "cost" price is markup vs. cost of manufacturing and development etc. The fact that they are in Texas makes logistic sense, smack in the middle of the USA so that parts and support, shipping etc. is as equal as it can be regardless of customer location. Reminds me of the old days when Dell made their decision to move to Texas, for that same reason.
I'm seriously considering Daikin mini splits for my new home. One question: did you see any new configurations on the mini split heads? I saw a video where the Coopers and ? had a real easy to remove blower wheel for cleaning. The cleaning issue will be the only reason I don't get mini split system.
Goodman is a subsidiary of Daikin. Under Goodman are brands like Amana , GMC and Janitrol. Daikon is considered #1 in HVAC systems. Mitsubishi is another Japanese HVAC manufacturer with excellent products. Mitsubishi has teamed up with Trane/American Standard out of Tyler, TX.
What i enjoyed the most is seeing the investment right here in the USA with thousands of good paying jobs. As long as the quality control and product developement is there I can get on board with this!
We need to bring back the jobs we lost many years ago. Americans took pride in what was built in this country! It will take time but maybe we can get jobs here again! Just my 2$ worth. From a old guy! Oh and I have a new Goodman heat pump installed last May.
You were lucky. You got to ride in a cart. I had to walk the length of the factory twice when I took a tour of the factory for a job interview. Unfortunately, the facility is out of middle of nowhere so they probably are having trouble recruiting employees. The pay was below market in my opinion. It’s probably a good place for new college graduates.
The IT in the facility wear black leather biker vests (they say it is so they can carry more cables and stuff). Its very funny and distinguished their maroon colored shirts from the medical red shirts.
Owns makes assembles designs engineers and so on. I think the difference between Daikin making other brands and some of the other brands out there that make other brands… Daikin , each brand targets a different part of the market. They each have a different warranty too.
Daikin owns Goodman Manufacturing, and Amana's HVAC division. The parts you see being used in that facility are either OEM parts (circuit boards, electronic parts, motors, etc) or they're fabricated onsite (metal and plastic panels, coil components, and so on). The Fabrication and Materials departments take up at least double the space that the assembly lines (around 26 or so when I left the company last year) do.
Omg I came here to see the building cause I pass it a lot but I'm leaving a like cause of the football field scene I'm crying lol. I'm too chubby for this lmbo I fell out
Great video, but something that keeps getting skipped over in every video I've seen when someone tours this facility is the software system behind the manufacturing process. I worked for that team for about five years, and it's a pretty impressive piece of work. From fabrication to the finished product that exits the assembly lines, the software in that plant was built from the ground up and has saved the company millions in avoided quality issues and warranty claims, and just overall set the bar for a quality product.
Can you make a video explaining the Liberty HVAC lineup that Daikan has and how they have the option to "build your own brand". This is very confusing and I'm thinking that Liberty is the exact same equipment as Amana with a different logo. Thanks!
4:44 there should be a balance of reliability and energy usuage. im not talking about diakin im in talking amongst all manufacturers energy efficiency usually comes at a price. With more control boards and more expensive parts. Why 14 seer is all i sell cheap to fix and not too many parts to go wrong.
Check out some of the videos that I’ve done on the Fit. Lower seer rating because of the smaller coil. But still has the communicating inverter technology for efficiency, quietness, and it can “fit” in places unitary can’t
It’s great to see that these units are being assembled in the United States. The important question is: where are the components made?? And what do the replacement parts cost. Not many families can afford condensing fan motors that cost 1k, much less the labor cost too 🤦♂️🤦♂️
Goodman parts are usually cheaper than other manufacturers. The pandemic and inflation have increased the prices of the ECM motors in the furnaces and condensing units. If the ECM motor goes out in my condensing unit, I plan to replace it with a standard AC motor.
U.K. is the same Assembled is not the same as Made in America over here we bring the bits in made in China and stick them together so as we can say assembled in 🇬🇧 not quite the same a play on words. They cost a fortune to run don’t be kidded.North America is that Canada the bit we kept 🇬🇧

Definitely. I was amazed when they invited me. I’m so glad they did!
And, I work there, and I love Rush as much as you do!
I love the way you told this Daikin story! Wow, what a great company!!
Thanks pal
As someone who works as a data analyst at this facility it’s awesome to see it shown off! DTTP really is incredible.
I hope we meet sometime!
I’m in PTAC, and we were some of the first to be at the DTTP. Then, we got moved to QuietFlex. But, on the bright side, it’s much closer to my house!
@NewHVACGuide yep bro try to communicate with him to be on your next video taking to the data guy
Absolutely incredible company to work for!! I couldn’t be more proud to be a part of it! Daikin Comfort!!!
nice job on the Tour, and thanks for that! I love these units and have been offering it heavy this year especially the Daikin FIT type .

Very informative video even after working at DTTP for last 4 years. Great work!
I’d been waiting for a video like this so I can show my friends the company.
Dude that was so awesome, great video
Thanks pal
I worked for goodman back in the good old days from 1998-2010 as a louver press machine technician
Oh wow. Well thank you. I probably installed some units you made!

I know they have some new stuff coming soon. But it’s hard for them to give me a timeline on some of the things.
I don't miss installing and servicing daikin / amana FIT
Why is that
Have you seen the Mitsubishi HVAC manufacturing facility?
Mitsubishi teamed up with Trane/American Standard. Trane is based in Tyler, TX.
I'm the one work 10 years in Daikin ❤ Daikin is the beast 🎉
It's nice to see Made in America. 👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Amidst other companies looking to ship jobs overseas, that was one thing that impressed me about Daikin trying to create jobs here
We need to bring back the jobs we lost many years ago. Americans took pride in what was built in this country! It will take time but maybe we can get jobs here again! Just my 2$ worth. From a old guy! Oh and I have a new Goodman heat pump installed last May.

So Daikin makes Goodman and Amana? Or just assemble? One reason why the industry is so screwed up. In my opinion.
Owns makes assembles designs engineers and so on. I think the difference between Daikin making other brands and some of the other brands out there that make other brands… Daikin , each brand targets a different part of the market. They each have a different warranty too.
Goodman and Amana are using the great reputation of Daikin to enhance their product lines!

It's is a large facility...I was there 5 years ago..down in houston...in some parts of the building they ride bikes to get around its so big.
The only issue with Daikin is that they produce "builder's grade" equipment.
THAT IS Super cool
Made in the USA. The right thing to do.
Pretty funny Syracuse used to have a huge carrier facility. Funny how transportation cost justifies building facilities in US

Was expected deep information in details, something like VRV product line or what's new in thermostat for example but thanks enjoyed watching.
More in-depth stuff coming 🙂
@@NewHVACGuide Thanks
Josh- how do the fit systems compare with their hi seer ‘trash can’ style units? Just the condenser size, orientation?
Check out some of the videos that I’ve done on the Fit. Lower seer rating because of the smaller coil. But still has the communicating inverter technology for efficiency, quietness, and it can “fit” in places unitary can’t

Everything’s getting more expensive, but I’ve always felt like they were the most fair when it came to part pricing and availability
@@NewHVACGuide as part of your tour, did you inquire where the components are made? Thanks for the video.
Some are imported. Some are assembled here. I didn’t inquire any further than that.
Goodman parts are usually cheaper than other manufacturers. The pandemic and inflation have increased the prices of the ECM motors in the furnaces and condensing units. If the ECM motor goes out in my condensing unit, I plan to replace it with a standard AC motor.
We make a lot of the components there not all but a large amount
Dear Daikin, if you’re reading the comments… please make a packaged unit!
They do sell packaged equipment. Rheem actually manufactures some of daikins lighter commercial sizes.
I know people who work here this is cool
Please share it with them! Maybe they’re in the background?
I didnt see package unit !!
Do they make their own compressors?
Daikin has the swing compressor that's proprietary
@@NewHVACGuide thank you
good large HVAC Daikin company in US # 👍 🇵🇰
Alluminum coils? Trash. Lol.
I know just about everyone uses AL now.
We don't have many issues with their coils. I can't say that about all brands
@@NewHVACGuide good to know. I'm in the market for two rught now.
All aluminum coils have usually longer lives due the difference of metals like copper. less corrosion takes place.

All those units yet we can’t get the equipment we need?! 😂
I don’t have any problems getting equipment from Daikin. I’ve had issues with some of the other companies though.
😂😂😂😂😂
Do you know if Daiken is now making their own zone boards, or are they still out-sourcing them?
Good question.
I'll try to find out
@@NewHVACGuide I've learned things from you. You seem to be very honest. Please don't turn on us, because of some deal, when you get even bigger. 😇

Great video. I was down 5 years ago for the tour. The technology park is getting bigger every year.
