Autism in high school and meeting an autistic high school student in general wasn't something that was wide spread or even heard of in my day. (I'm only 31 🙈)
As a young adult without a diagnosis of high functioning autism spectrum disorder I suffered a lot of school problems and also school anxiety due to my asperger syndrome. At that time I didn't have someone sit me down and say 'Paul, This is Autism'..
This can explain your shy behaviour and why you struggle to cope so much with the social aspects of education.
This is why you find it hard to focus and take an interest in your school work.
This is why your home economic teacher bullies you 😂😢
I think its important to diagnose early and adapt where possible to ensure that you have the best possible chance to succeed in education without the limitations that your condition brings dragging you down.. But that's just me.. What do you think?

Oh Paul, you make me laugh, were you at St John's by any chance ! I left 1984.

Yeah I was at St John's. I was actually at the rockie as well whilst the rebuild was underway but I left just as it had re-opened so never got to see how it changed 🤓
