So where did you place the washers, next to the screw or bottom of connectors?

In the foot controller, I put the washer directly under the head of the screw when wiring the unit.

The built-in strain relief nubbin is nigh useless. I just rehabbed two button style controllers and the underwriters knot is essential. Did you clean the carbon discs? It sure seems to work well.

I took a quick peak at the discs between takes (yes, sometimes I have to shoot it more than once). They were fine, but you raise a good point, I'll do something to show how to take the resistive load apart...

I have always loved sewing machines and now I am restoring them. Couldn't have done it without your videos, so I thank you for sharing your skill and knowledge. I have begun rewiring some bakelite foot controllers, and have done pretty good until this last one, which turns off the light when I apply the pedal. The foot controller works, it just won't allow the light to work. I switched the pedal with another one I repaired and it works correctly. I have gone over and over the unit and do not see my mistake. Do you have a suggestion? Thank you.

You did fantastic work on serviceing the motors,,, sell me some peitence,,I have 2 221 and one 222 for sale. All accessories original case. Repair an sewn off by me. Plus 100 singer needles by 3. In the old singer box. One hundred each Mach. Make me a offer.

I just acquired an early 1941 Featherweight. The foot controller seems to have the original wiring. I would just replace the wiring, however two of the feet on one side are completely melted and I am concerned that the resistive load might be too much of a fire hazard. Should I keep the pedal and replace it with a new electronic pedal for safety sake

You need to keep your arm out of the way or slow down enough to let people see steps. Couldn't see beginning of underwriter's knot cause your hand blocked it.
