I normally don't play JRPGs because the bulk of them are turned based or gacha. This one is just fantastic. I Thoroughly enjoyed this game. I'm now pushing endgame stuff but it doesn't feel like a job like gacha's do :D
Lol I love you're review of this game and it oretty much convinced me to just buy it today instead of waiting for a sale. But, your gameplay with Io not playing and talking got under my skin. Totally understand it being hard to talk AND play, but was still irksome.

Cygames had to rebuild the engine and start over because the game didn't meet their standards. Was 2020 I think. Also heard some Platinum devs stayed with Cygames. They play their games, love their franchises and are heavily involved in the community with multiple livestreams a year. Even the VA's get involved and play. They always take feedback and try to implement it and it's why Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising changed so much from the beta to become an amazing fighting game that released 2 months before Relink. They tend to heavily support their games too and have already announced new endgame and characters for free. Enjoy! I know they really want to expand the franchise to more types of games and I'm all for it because they have amazing characters and worlds. The og mobile game is still going after 10 years so it's awesome they are trying console/Pc games and man they nailed it so far. Characters are so fun and unique (in the fighter too which is a freakin gorgeous game)
@@IAMWILL24 PSO2 used to be like this and it seems like a lot of characters in Relink were based on the classes in the original PSO2, but the base game (which is now free dlc) got really gimped when they tried to force everyone to play NGS and everyone quit base since it's no longer being updated, and NGS just doesn't do things the same way. Phantasy Star Universe is kinda similar too, but the combat isn't as fast.
"anime style story" sounds so funny to me, mostly because I started watching anime on the 90s... It was such a weird time, you can find all the most fked up, and weird stuff at that time xD such a different vibe to now.
I been playing it for over 150 hours already and not even close to being bored and i have not even unlocked the other characters because right now still switching between my characters i already have
Way too short to be a GOTY. It’s an excellent game, and it really should have been an epic quest like DW 11. The cast of characters was there, the story was there to be fleshed out. Still an amazing game though.
I put over 500 hours in and can confidently say this game has zero chance to even be nominated for GotY. Its just a good game, it has plenty of flaws and limitations that make it unworthy of consideration for the top award in gaming. The combat is incredibly broken and not balanced even if you take out all the animation cancel bugs and damage cap transfer bugs, there is an extreme lack of information on status screens forcing players to use third party google docs to get information that should be readily available in any RPG, the knickknack shop is 50% of your gameplay in the endgame, it literally takes an hour to clear 10 runs worth of proud mode sigils and wrightstones from your inventory. The farming loop is among the most repetitive in any game with similar mechanics, rather than grinding varied content for hours and hours, you get to farm 1 boss for days/weeks to get a sigil, its not a good design, its a thing we put up with for other parts of the game.
It always really good to have an experienced players feedback on this kind of of game. The shortcoming you have talked about are the sort of things I feel they need to look at for the next game, a patch would also be very nice looking in to this kind of stuff as well. Here is hoping for a number 2! Thanks for your insight.
@@shiroufan5401 its not an anime game. Thats like calling any "realistic" art direction a "movie game" Anime games are budget cash grabs based on actual japanese animation series. Nobody thinks dragon quest is an anime game and its literally designed by the same artist as Dragonball Z.

I didnt say "every" anime game is a cash grab, so why add the word to your interpritation, its not even debatable that the vast majority of anime games are low effort over monetized cash grabs, im simply giving the mechanism responsible for the lack of representation in GOTY debates. I think the fact that you, without evidence, just declare that several GoTY winners are just as flawed as Relink is stupid in itself. 50% of your endgame in Relink is converting sigils and wrightstones to tickets and mashing x to gamble for sigils, name one GOTY that shit the bed on a mechanic that is half your playtime

It will near the very end of endgame but the beautiful thing is it doesnt stop being fun as opposed to most gacha games.
Try the Tales games, too. They also have real-time combat.
These were my thoughts exactly. I found this game bored looking through Steam and I am addicted to it.

Very good game endgame loop is need some work tough not as good as mhw but wicked first attempt and amazing game
This game is very underrated. Combat feels more fun than Monster Hunter World.

It an anime game it wouldn’t get game of the year anyway but plenty of games just as flawed have gotten game of the year
