Nice pick up. My mother used to collect Little Lulu when she was a little girl. My mother told me she would pick then up from the convivence store when she was getting candy etc. She would read the comic, then put the comic in a shoe box. She kept them for a long time, but eventually tossed them away. 😩
Great buy Brother. Superb variety of books. Thanks again for sharing Your passion and adventures from Toronto Ontario Canada 😎👍♥️📚📚📚📚📚✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️✨️✨️💯💯💯💯💯✨️✨️
Some amazing books there. I actually found a big collection of all first printings of Classic Illustrated maybe about 5 years back. And… that means absolutely nothing in this case because they were water damaged to the point of being worthless. I bought the entire collection for $5, pressed a few just to get the waves out, maybe turn a few poors into fairs, I don’t remember, I think I got $15 or $20 for them on eBay. Probably wasn’t worth the work money wise but I think I just wanted to rescue them, and I did. After all, they were first print Classics and you don’t see them every day.
In the late 80's and early 90's comics where the best! I'm so glad that people are finally jumping on board. It was a good time to be alive. I have all of those comic by the way! But my dog ripped them up.😂😂😂! They don't look as good as yours now.
Crazy to me the kind of books you can find for only a dollar. Videos like this make me want to go and search through every book in the dollar bins! Great video👍
I have done it for almost a year and I have never been able to find anything remotely close to the things James finds in his dollar bins hauls. ( I have found things in yard sales and flea markets but it seems LCS in my area are very acurate sorting their books). I would not like to imply that "something doesnt add up" (James is a very nice and correct guy) but I think it revolves around him being so good spotting good books on the wild and also being kind of a local celebrity in the comic book scene that he often times get to see the dolaf bins before anyone else.
Gotta agree with your buddy. On that photo cover, Spideman. But then I detest almost all photo covers on any comic. If I want a photo cover I'll buy a magazine . That's just me, though. 😊😊😊
Lots of nice stuff. Wost case scenario, lowest price to sell should be $2-$3. A lot of store out here sell generic back issues at US cover price. With the understanding if you buy a pile they'll take off a certain percentage. Even less if paying with cash.
Actually, the Incredible Hulk and Wolverine #1 is a reprint of both The Incredible Hulk 180 and 181 with a bonus story of the first meeting with Wolverine and Hercules!
That Whitman edition of Battlestar Galactica #1 is worth double the regular Marvel edition. DC's Showcase Presents and Marvel's Essentials are great for reading Silver Age comics on the cheap. The Superman/Spider-Man volume reprints Marvel Treasury Edition #28 from 1981. I remember reading Eliot's "Silas Marner" while studying English at University decades ago, one of Eliot's more famous novels. Regarding Classics Illustrated, I've been told that the Highest Re-order Number on the back cover is a guide to the comic's age: the lower the number, the older the issue.
$1.25 each! This box is full of some of the best Xmen comics of that era? The Pro is worth some bank on line. This is the ultimate $1 long box we would NEVER find this hook up in Los Angeles. Bad ass!
GI Joe #14 is the first full appearance of Destro, and I don't just mean in the comics. As far as I can tell, this predates both his cartoon and action figure appearance. A 9.8 newsstand usually goes for a couple hundred bucks or more.
GI Joe 43 was the Fred II reveal I think. It also introduced Scrap Iron (Lol) but also killed off the Soft Master (after he learns Zartan killed the Hard Master!) and Candy (Ripcord's girlfriend who dresses as a bear???). We thought Billy (Cobra Commander's son) died too but he comes back like a badass one eyed one legged ninja so no worries. It's GI Joe (and Power Pack) that started my comic collecting as a kid. Before that it was just random comics (Spider-man, Batman, Green Lantern, Flash) I'd pick up.
You mentioned that that book is because the annual and what is otherwise known as the first appearance would be wanting to respectively. Therefore, this Hass to be at least the third appearance.
Is there a reason why newstand editions are considered more desirable? Is it just because they are harder to find in good condition compared to the direct market editions?
After about 1985, newsstand print runs began to decline as printers began printing larger and larger quantities for the direct sales market. In the 90's comics largely disappeared from convenience stores and supermarkets, and those that did continue to carry them carried a much smaller selection of comics and in much smaller numbers. That's why nineties newsstand comics are considered rare.
really great longbox hauls, bro. uncanny x-men #236 has several first appearances in it. it is also the controversial issue because rogue gets sexually assaulted by the guards while her and wolverine are without their powers and are prisoners on genosha.
That’s a nice box of comics you got. I’m a fan of the Classics Illustrated too, really cool comics. Did any of the X-Force 1’s have the reverse negative Captain America?
Hey i have a question. I am getting into using mylar for my comics and i was wondering what kind of mylites should i use with bcw silver age backing boards. I Mainly collect 70’s-90’s comics But i thought about What you said in your video about things not to do when collecting and i thought that i wanted that fit for my comics. Were the comics have room so that they are safe if you would drop them.
No, it isn't Nicholas Hammond on the cover of ASM #262. It is actor/stuntman Scott Leva, who was apparently chosen in 1985 to play Spider-Man in Cannon Films' later abandoned Spider-Man movie.
It makes no sense for the seller but I assume he is a buddy. The only way dealers can maximize profits is to buy collections cheap. It’s the Gordon Gecko strategy.
I really like the cover of the Hulk 181 reprint! I always enjoy seeing the gems people can find in these types of hunts/purchases.
10:23 reprint of treasury sized #28
Wow, crazy finds for $1 each! Good job!
Yes! Thank you!

Yay Canada 🇨🇦. I'm in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island.
I really hope you have those G.I. Joes and Star Wars at your claim sales. Those are two series I've been hunting for.

I love when you feature the Gold Keys/Dell/Harveytoons non-superhero books. So much great color and artwork happening with those covers.

Love this format, do more of these!
I have the classic illustrated time machine HG Wells book and I really like it.
Spidey 51 is when Ben Reilly’s name is revealed 👌🏼 A Scarlet Spider key
My favorite kind of videos keep it up
Great stuff in that box. Thanks for sharing
To me this is like a heaven collection box to find. I look and look, never run across this kind of box at that price. gr8 vid!
Couldn't agree more!

U hit the jackpot with this box. No big keys but still great finds! N all those news stands in that good of condition. U lucked out my friend.

WoW, nice haul, I would have bought that box too. I'm trying to put together a GI Joe run as we speak.
I collected most of horror/science fiction Classic Illustrateds years ago...

Noice! I love when I see the Pro. Amanda Conner was a classmate of mine.
I really wished I had that Amazing Spider-Man AIM Toothpaste (1982) book. I have the AIM one from 1980 with the Green Goblin on the cover.
I love a good dollar bin hunt. They are literally the things I live for in being a collector.
I'd buy that for a dollar!

Love the Joes.
Im with your bud. Im doing asm 1-400 and i hate that cover lol
Pretty great haul. Your persistence is paying off... as usual.
*_Among more than half of the purchase has a single book that in a 9.8 would pay for the entire box. Then imagine if half the box is a 9.8._*
That gold-covered mystery book is a Marvel DC treasury edition. It came out in the mid-to-late '70's. Not sure when it came out...

Wild deal. Nice work!
Dude a splash of silver paint on the raised letters on the stand may look fly
Not just newsstand but Canadian.
You mentioned that that book is because the annual and what is otherwise known as the first appearance would be wanting to respectively. Therefore, this Hass to be at least the third appearance.
My brain hurt rereading this hahaha
how about you pay it forward and limit yourself to 5x your profit and sell each for $5 at your claim sale
James,if the X-Men #1 newstand is NM that's like a $200 book.
You got ALL of those in the DOLLAR bin???
Wish I could find a mother lode like that when I’m hunting.
WDC&S #211 has a 10 page story with art from Carl Barks. "Island Of Tuku Tiva".
There are embossed copies of asm 400 that you can actually see what's on the tombstone?!
Is there a reason why newstand editions are considered more desirable? Is it just because they are harder to find in good condition compared to the direct market editions?
I'm pretty sure that's the reason.
Marketing ploy.....
The narrative is that they are more rare but they are a lot in circulation. Most of the books in this box are common.
After about 1985, newsstand print runs began to decline as printers began printing larger and larger quantities for the direct sales market.

@@dngillikin Thanks for the info.
Saw I picked up ASM 346 from a dollar bin newstand raw ,how much iam looking for it fir my friend collection?
OK ASM wasn't a Newstand. My bad still interested for my friend collection.
You should slab those x-men adventures 1 newsstands. Last one sold on evil bay for $950
Only on 9.8

That's Nicholas Hammond from the TV series. It's a bland cover!

Random hunt idea.......Pope hunt! look for pope/religious books and fill the gaps with battle pope by Robert Kirkman
Avoid The prophet that begins with an M because no one needs the hassle
Why are the newsstand issues better than direct mail issues?
Rarer and lesser found to be in high grade
@@MintHunterComics thank you
I'll give you a $1.25 for it all dude hahahah ;)
Gi Joe 12 or 13 you have first destro
Minor gripe: You do not speak about any ongoing current comics anymore (you did so previously).
All these coming to a claim sale soon...
James, you got all these for a buck a book?????
That TMNT for $1.25?? Who does this? Why?
Don’t understand why people sell good comics so cheap
@@RobertWeirwell of course James will, I’m talking about the person who sold to him
@@kendallkidd20 My guess is James' mentor deals in huge quantities. Plus he may be giving James a discount because he knows him well.
