I’m thinking about buying a 89 150 that’s been converted from EFI to 2 barrel carb. When I hit the brakes the engine idles up about 1500 rpm. Is this a vacuum issue? There is one vacuum line going from the bottom of the carb to the top of the carb. Vac advance line is hooked to carb, brake booster line is hooked to back of intake. Pcv line is hooked to back of intake. I’m lost when I look at vacuum lines so any help will be appreciated. Thanx
My best guess would be a vacuum leak inside your brake booster. If you’re able to test it some, unplug the vacuum line from the brake booster and put a plug in the hose. With the truck running, leave it in park and press on the brakes. If it quits idling up to 1500, then it’s probably your booster. Plug the vacuum line in and see if it goes back to idling up just to make sure.
The second truck does, shown at 1:31. The first truck does not. I was running an AOD transmission at the time which doesn’t require a vacuum line connection.
Totally my fault for jumping the gun there haha. I came here to ask after I saw the first truck instead of sticking it out 😆 but thank you all the same
Is it carbureted? If so, turn the idle screw all the way out. If the car stays running, you have a vacuum leak. If it dies, you just need to adjust the idle screw
Question my Edelbrock vacuum that goes to my distributor gives it hesitation when I give it gas when I take it off it's got perfect good slowed could it still be in my timing
It’s possible because that vacuum advances timing and as the engine revs up it will make a stronger vacuum and advance the timing. If the timing is too advanced it will bog the engine down
@@cronedentside74 I set the timing TDC and it's on one but the distributors all the way to the air conditioner can't go any further but do you think I need to go back one gear?
Factory air cleaner has four lines to a can and a heat outlet with three nipples and a coffee can with 2 lines going out ???
Straight in line six.
I love dentside truck project! I wanna get one so bad
What transmission did you go with because my C6 is garbage
I actually have a c6 now and it’s pretty good. I put a shift kit in it and like how it’s been doing.
Thanks for the video! This is very helpful!
Have you tried using ported vacuum instead of straight manifold vacuum ?
I have not
I have a 76f100 302 motor and a summit 600 carb without power brakes..can I just run one from the distributor to manifold vacumn and plug the rest
Yes it sounds like it. Unless you need vacuum lines to run the heater/ac blendoor. Those plug in at the firewall usually

@@cronedentside74 Thank you Sir👍👍
Did you not have a vaccuum line going from trans to manifold?

I have a 1985 LTD four crown Victoria V-8 302. it’s really running on a high idle, Would you have any idea what is wrong with it?

@@roadrunner0079 yes I would. Sounds like that’ll fix the problem. Should be about 10-12 degrees before TDC for stock applications.
Thanks I'm going to try that 😁
I tried that but it's still runs good with it off when I put the vacuum line on the distributor
Does that 390 have a granny gear.?
It was an automatic. I think a C6 so no.
That should be a c6 if you have an fe
I think you’re right
