Just imagine - LIV buys DP World Tour and Asian Tour, creates their own points system, and establishes their very own Major events. The PGA tour would then become better known as the USA Tour, and 4 Majors which abide under the OWGR system, become irrelevant as the Majors would only include USA players. This would give LIV the opportunity to play their own Majors throughout the World. Wowza
Like the way you think. From your lips to reality.
So what would they be called? The Woodchipper Masters? Anyone who misses the cut loses a finger 😂. You are aware MBS is threatening their own American lawyers with 20 years in a Saudi prison if they reveal the financials of the LIV TOUR correct? Do you miss that story? Yeah the Masters is going away even though it’s probably the #2 sporting event in the world. Gotcha. Dream on Millennials…
But you're forgetting that they only want 54 players????...And The LIV is starting to look like The Champions Tour, but for those a little younger as to not be qualifying for that over 50 thing......
No history. Are you trying to be serious.
Let’s make the majors the open ,Australian open ,china open and us open, with there own wold golf ranking.
I've been wishing all along that the PIF would turn their attention to the DP and Asian Tours and go all in for an inclusive world golf ecosystem, and each tour will allow players to move back and forth fluidly during the season, makes perfect sense to me and it means all the DP/Asian feeder tours get a proper leg up and the sponsors get properly rewarded as well.....I don't understand how the PGAT and OWGR think that their conduct has been anything but self-serving, do they really think people can't see through it? bewilders me, honestly
If The Masters would lead & invite the world's best players, including all LIV tournament winners, the other majors would follow, I believe & accelerate the resolution of this mess.
Why LIV players want to play Master and Open etc. for the money or glory? All the LIV players have plenty of money, so it not for the money and they already playing all their tournaments with the top best 54 players in the world. Like some LIV player Anirdhan Lahiri said, it very hard to win in LIV tournament with just 54 players without any cut. How about playing with 150 players with cut. LIV is a Elite club tournament, focus on it and build their own brand and if not enough players, go and shop at the PGA counter. Made to Order players.
I agree. The Majors should create their own ranking system that will allow the best players from Liv to compete since the OWGR is being reduced to being irrelevant. But unfortunately that probably won’t happen because of political or financial resistance. Why else is the OGWR still allowed to be the authority in controlling golf competition.
that wont be resolution, that will spell death to PGAT as all players will then leave
@@steveg959 majors are literally tournaments for the best on the planet to play each other. Nothing more. Nothing less. That includes players from LIV just like it’s always included players from other tours if they’re among the best in the world.
When the Majors fold and accept LIV, as they most certainly will, there will be a reckoning. In the meantime, let the Majors sweat it out with their sponsors and interested fans. As DarkStar said, the OWGR has completely abdicated its stated purpose. Thus, irrelevance.
The majors are gonna fold 😂? LIV is going to wipe out 100 years of history of the US Open. The Masters? 😂. Golf much. The majors are all that matter to most pros. The LIV guys tell you that themselves. So LIV wants to destroy the one thing they were begging for. The OWGR. Makes zero sense
Simple the majors should invite the Liv top 5
When the majors fold?
If you knew anything about golf you would know how ridiculous you sound. Will never ever happen.
@@kyle381000 Perhaps a better phrase is that the Majors will "give in" and invite worthy LIV players to the event without the requisite OWGR points. I did not mean that the Majors themselves would cease to exist. If, however, they do not do so, the Majors are certainly diminished. Accordingly, the Majors will certainly seek the world's best players whether those players are affiliated with the PGAT or not.
@@thomasjoseph3488
How are the majors diminished? There are at best 3 LIV players that are good enough to play them. Screw LIV and the Saudis.
Love the well thought out analysis, always look forward to hearing your views.
Thx a bunch Semy. Cheers!
LIV will merge with the DP World tour leaving the PGA Tour on their own. More players will leave for LIV
Guys really enjoyed the analysis again! It's fascinating. I would like to see more analysis on what LIV Tour is about, rather than a power play. The TV coverage I like, the quality is patchy - however they need to do better in communicating the LIV season and it's purpose - i.e. make up shit. If it doesnt improve it will still feel like meaningless tournaments in 5 years time. It feels like all roads lead to Greg Norman's ~World Tour circa 20 years ago.
Thx Fuse. PIF wants a part in a world tour that includes PGAT. We like two leagues playing against each other (LIV v PGAT) but there are several ways to make pro golf a whole better and include the Saudis who clearly want in - a miracle for PGAT and players given the money the Saudis are willing to invest in such a small sport.
Agree small sport. TV format of PGA and DP World Tours very poor. I enjoy LIV format more. Also apart from the Majors and a few others, people just don't care enough who wins what - Waste Management tour win - really! LPGA tour is my favourite, great competition and real sense of identity. Keep up the good and interesting analysis@@ThinkingManShow
DPWT is so underfunded at the moment and losing players to the PGA each year leaving them with terrible fields plus sponsers hard to find it makes so much sense that they combine with LIV so many headlights and and major news if it happens and leaves the PGA looking stupid.
Allowing the top 10 to win Us cards in return for dp world getting the pga lowest 10 hardly benefits the dp world😊
Why I don’t think the DP won’t join with LIV is (if I remember correctly) the PGA also own part of the DP tour and so they wouldn’t allow it to happen
PGAT is a minority owner but we don’t know what their voting rights are or any veto powers. More research needed into that but we would be surprised if the Euro Tour sold out for the small amount of cash PGAT invested.
Of course PIF could always start a new Tour in Europe. Not terrible expensive to do that.
The PGA Tour has been screwing over the DPTour ever since LIV started. OWGR’s first reactions to LIV was to “rightsize” points awarded to Austral/Asian and DP World Tour events.
I live in Dubai ..always thought PIF should focus on DP World...forget about PGAT..let it implode....Rory, Fleetwood, Hovland and Fitzpatrick...
It’s unbelievable how badly the PGA Tour has bungled this whole situation. They didn’t treat the top players well enough, and lost some of them to LIV. The PGA Tour is on its way to becoming a joke. Monahan needs to be shown the door ASAP.
It’s an inbred bunch, they won’t get rid of jay
The tour didn’t treat top players well ? These guys are millionaires and have access to stuff that they wouldn’t have had without the game or pga tour. It’s not the pga tours fault that some of these guys haven’t played well enough to be super rich get better and work harder. If some guys want the easy money from liv and not have to play full events and play more tournaments that’s ok but stop acting like you don’t have a good life because you played on the pga tour.
@@chrisowen3264 the mistake in ur view is that the golf fans want to see these players. The pga tour management r a bunch of old money bastards that treat the talent like house servants. Arnold, jack, Greg and tiger all wanted a different tour and try to end the pga tours hold on pro golf. I hope this helps u understand the other side
The sponsors control everything. We are already seeing sponsors complain and pull out. As soon as FedEx starts crying, things will change.
If LIV gets Rory and a few others the field will be stronger than the Majors, and if the DP tour isn’t available then the Asian tour is totally on board with LIV and could easily become the best tour
I think it is already
Rory hasn’t won a major tournament in a decade… He would literally bring down LIV
ITS SHITE.@@chevy4x466
Is there any reason why Jack cannot invite the top LIV guys to Memorial? Is it an invitational same as Mastere
It’s a pga tour
Elevated event. The pga tour won’t allow it
The PGA has discredited world rankings of pro golfers and makes the majors lesser trending towards obscurity. The majors are starting not to really matter anymore - without top International Tour players just to benefit PGAT Executives.
The majors used to have the best fields with the highest purses….
If the Majors keep ignoring and excluding LIV golfers, and abide by the fake and irrelevant OWGR, they will also fade into PGA Elevated Events...
@@chevy4x466 The PGA Executives are screwing the PGA Tour. International Tours have already passed the PGA and Rory looks foolish for not joining LIV. Hope the PGA can clean up its act - as one PGA event made it look like a beer league tour with all the drunks pissing themselves around the golfers. It made the PGA look pathetic and unprofessional.
LIV wants Fowler, Hovland, Thomas, Homa. The way Ricky has been last few years playing less, being a dad I am utterly surprised he has not gone to LIV.
Ricky does well in endorsements which would go away….
It's just the PGA that wants JT and Spieth...lol
I think the LIV’s top shopping list are Rory, Scheffler, Spieth, Matsuyama, Morikawa, Clark, Hovland, Cantley, and Schauffele. They probably won’t get Scheffler and Spieth. Rory, Matsuyama, Morikawa and Clark are getable. The others don’t have a major so it is a tougher sell. If the majority went the PGA Tour would be forced to make a deal which would be good for everyone.
PGA should please keep JT and Spieth...not needed at LIV at all! @@2Thes22
Because Fowler is best friends with Tiger Woods...
Would be hard to imagine Rory just going straight to LIV, but he probably feels used by Jay n co which could drive him to dp world tour. Sounds more likely but who knows, can't rule anything out now.
It will be very interesting to see what pif do now. Mickelson mentioned ages ago that there is a 6 stage plan or something like this. Pif are game theory masters
PIF has unlimited runway and in business - that is huge.
LIV are about to make a big move and go scorched Earth on the golf establishment. Surely has to be purchasing majority share of the DP World Tour. Also my pie-in-the-sky idea is LIV will build an exact replica of Augusta in Saudi Arabia and host their own Masters Invitational within the next 5-10 years 😅 Also allowing the public to play Augusta's exact layout and drawing more tourism to SA......I mean if they can build Neom The Line then they can build an exact Augusta replica 😂
The Saudis will never be able to replicate the pimento cheese sandwiches.
@@billmoyer3254 🤣🤣
Thanks SiLo. We’ve never believed that PIF wanted to rule the ashes of pro golf but rather be a part of the existing sport and all the related business elites. Is that still achievable in your view?
I want the PIF to crank up the heat. Who's next to go over to LIV? Utter panic at the establishment is just under a thin veneer of an all-is-well mask. Frankly, pushing the PGAT over the edge might be one or two players away.
Westchester? Atlanta Golf Club? Cog Hill?
TUGR world golf rankings are looking way more plausible than OWGR world rankings.
Masters have had joke fields for decades, maybe since 1934
Never seems to hurt them
I will just be watching LIV, DP tour and the Ladies. The winners of the PGA tour events are a bunch of no names.
Greg Norman deserves a lot of credit as a businessman and CEO.
36 holes, 54 holes, 72 holes…come on. We all know the best players are.
So 54=72. Is that some 5th grade math? 72>54, not the same. The senior tour plays 54 holes. The LIV guys are too tired to play 72? Or too spoiled. Both I think
And again, we all know who the best players are.
@@Macattack11639it's obvious your brain dead.
@@Macattack11639 In regular tennis events they play 3 sets, while in the 4 grand slam events they play 5 sets. In boxing many non title fights are 10 rounds, whereas the world title fights are 12 rounds. Having a difference is nothing to do with being 'spoiled' or 'tired' that's a strawman argument at best. Why don't the PGA Tour play 90 holes? Is it because the players are too spoiled or tired to play 90 holes? Ridiculous. Not every PGAT player plays 72 holes either because of cuts, so half of the players only play 36 while EVERY PLAYER on LIV plays 54 holes no matter what.
But no cuts….show up play and get paid even though you are last.
LIV stands for 18 under par so changing to 72 holes is very easy. I'm a liv fan from the beginning but i've always thought that 54 holes was too different imo. Just change to 27 holes a day on friday and saturday.
OWGR is a corrupt cartel. Just be honest and change its name to PGAGR. The majors are essentially the best PGAT players. I doubt i watch them untiil the top 25 on LIV are given automatic enry . The PGA Tour is destroying the game to control their monopoly.
There is an easy solution to this. LIV gets 25 spots in the majors, the pga tour gets 40 spots in the majors, European Tour gets 10 spots in the Majors. The world rankings are done from your finishing position in the 4 golf majors. This is the best and most honest way to rank golfers.
Eventually there will be a world tour with around 18 events. 8 in the US, 4 in the UK/Europe, 1 in Australia, 1 in South Africa, 1 in Japan, 1 in China, 1 in South America, 1 in Middle East. The 4 majors will have 2 in the US. 1 in Britain, 1 in Asia.
Every tour players is graded on this system for a long period of time. and now to get acceptance, people want it to change to accept grading for 54 holes only. wondering how about the rest of the tour players feel? change the rules to accept 54 best players? wow. Can't the 54 players accept the regulations apply to all tour players? OWGR please bend over, are you unfair to the best 54 players?
This was all so predictable. Pga and Monahan did absolutely nothing but start a negative campaign, refuse to cooperate, textbook asinine behavior. The PGA, owgr just committed business suicide, and it was all scripted beautifully by Phil and Greg. I love it
Business school case study Craig.
I have been saying that to my golf buddy for two years. A perfect business school case study in self immolation. Ego ruins everything. @@ThinkingManShow
PIF should give out prize money to the top 5 TUGR ranked golfers, regardless if they’re PGAT or LIV golfers. This would completely take the focus away from OWGR.
I agree! LIV must focus on the TUGR world rankings going forward
Interesting idea. Or just pick their preferred ranking system and reward / bonus in some way top ranked players.
I'm watch the Hong Kong tournament.
Do you have extra Euro pop dance music playing in your tv room? 🤣
Yes, DP World Tour is the key here... Rory basing himself in London, wants to compete against the 'other' top players and will attract strongest fields amongst those eligible.. I wouldn't be surprised if LIV negotiate an 'agreeable' schedule next year with the DP World Tour....
Majors should invite LIV's top 8 players from past year results.
The OWGR is a mostly useless mechanism.
Replace it with something far more relevant, or simply have the four majors send out special invites to all of the world's very best players based on their own qualification criteria.
Maybe LIV will announce they are teaming up with a OWGR competitor and telling everyone that this ranking system is correct.
And perhaps offering contracts to top ranked players at season end on said ranking system.
I’m a golf fan. I’m not blaming players for taking liv money heck ya but…. It’s like waaay too much money wow ! I’m supposed to care about a liv half a Billion dollar player ?!
I figured out finally why it seems obscene to me …. Because the Saudi guys are used to hanging around with other billionaires and they have no clue that reg peeps think that’s great for the players but the fans might be like …. Wow the billionaire got another birdie ??! A perspective to think about that I’ve not heard from anyone else.
I’m conflicted cause I’m happy for the players hitting it so frign HuuuugE ! With the gigantic money 💰 Un frign real
When Rory wins Masters he joins Liv and it’s game over for the PGA.
Which is number one most likely 2T?
Rory is number 1 whether he joins LIV as or is a friendly participant on the DP Tour. Rory could even play occassional events on LIV without actually joining. Rory, Rahm a few other top European players are the key to the Majors, the European Ryder Cup and revitalizing the DP World Tour. Other LIV players could be encouraged to play 2-4 events on DP World Tour.
Why don't they just create their own world ranking
They can. They just won’t get in the majors unless they’ve won a major. So have at it. Create a meaningless LIV ranking. Wouldn’t that just be their “league” money list???
TUGR world rankings is looking better already… and it already exists… it just needs promoting
LIV need to go for tours not individual players like the DP tour, japan tour and womens tours. Really pump the money in so that they are allies. Even LPGA tour commissioner said she would listen if PIF came knocking on her door. Got to undermine the OWGR system as is by back door.
My thought several months ago was that PIF should take over (merge) with the DP and Asian Tours and leave the PGA Tour on their own island.
Brian - that would work and could be the Plan B that Bryson has mentioned.
USA is not the world...they are merely a part of the world. Could never understand why golf had to be centered in the US, and why they could have 3 of the 4 Majors!
After the British Open, the South African Open is the 2nd oldest Open...why not a Major when South Africa had a number of Major winners...?
And that's where LIV can start getting their own Majors...South African Open, Australian Open, Spanish Open etc.
Everything golf in the world doesn't have to be for and by the PGA...in total there are more golfers, golf courses, golf fans and followers in the rest of the world than in the USA...it is a world game, not an American game!
LIV can start their own rankings, have their own major championships etc.
Problem solved.
I've stopped going to Major events since LIV got involved, I'm out, won't watch it. I'll just play my game and forget about Pro golf
Majors do not matter anymore unfortunately! Without the world’s best they are a joke. Turning the majors into exhibition golf is inexcusable. I am a huge PGA tour guy and I want to see the world’s best. Taylor Gooch is a top 15 golfer beating all the high ranking LIV players.
I think an apology is in order from Rex and lab bashing AK. The dude just shot 65 and looks like he’s well on his way to returning to his former form.
PIF is going to come out with an honest ranking system .... So the world can see how stupid this owgr ranking is not fair to all of golf players...
I said all along LIV Golf doesn’t need the PGA they can create their own WORLD Ranking points and MAJORS.
Good take Sam.
Now the PIF will have all that cash if the deal is off to buy DP AND Rory. PGA thought they were being smart to get their own investors and bypass LIV to keep their fading power. It will just bite them in the ass. The incedible shrinking golf league.
Majors want top 20 or so players to win. When lower rank or lesser name players start winning majors, then they will make changes to get more top players in to increase the odds of better golfers winning
I thought the US had invented Sports washing. MLB Met's purchase is one of the latest examples. I guess we can't stand the competition.
the PGA is just waiting for charlie to show up !!
As I have said, 72 holes is finished. Not conducive to TV or sponsors. The first 18 are a waste. Cuts are a waste. The future for new fans is shorter tourneys to keep the younger and even mid aged interested. New fans want a league format each event with the same players vs. each other not a mish mash of who vs who. They want commercial free golf everyone playing at the same time.
There is much more to the LIV/PGA saga. LIV golf was formed because the PGA had to be dismantled without causing an abrupt disruption to the golf industry. Let me explain.I knew when LIV was formed it would not be long before the PGA would start to fall. And sure enough, about 6 months later the PGA Headquarters was raided by the DOJ. You will not hear this on the news. I know this because I have a connection to a top PGA official who phone and computer was confiscated after the Raid. This had to remain quiet because it was part of a bigger law enforcement operation. You see, the PGA is a non profit organization. 99% of non profits are nothing but money laundering operations from human (Child)and drug trafficking money. Many more non profits and major corporations will fall also. This will all become more transparent to the public as we move forward.
Are u Q or did u hit your head on an anvil?
DP world merges with Asian tour and feed into LIV as the pinnacle, true world tour
That could work well. And elevate the Australian, Scottish and Irish Opens. Like to see an important tournament in Japan and S Korea as well.
I started watching the LIV once. Teams and team names? WTF? Don’t get it.
The LIV is going to create their own majors. Inviting the top golfers in the world based on true real rankings with huge purses and appearance bonuses not fees.
Have it at a trump course and call it the brain dead open
If Rory, Hovland, Fleetwood and 1 more (would like Max Homa) join LIV...the camel's back will be broken and PGA will basically become like the Korn Ferry Tour...
How about this .In order to play in the majors you must have a pga victory.liv plays would then plY some pga events
So out of the the whole 9 month + PGA season only 4 major events matter? Who is running this train wreck? 😂
Rory there is a need for a world tour........................ hmmmmm................. Pelley has moved on........... Europeans want to keep the dignitiy of their tour and strength for europe in the Ryder cup.......... lots of dots easily linked. Shows how weak Mike Weir is playing to the PGAT trumpet, clearly happy to take a bunch of second stringers to get beaten up
Martin Slumbers leaving the R&A.
LIV don't need PGA or OWGR!
OWGR is already totally irrelevant...PGA is on a fast-track to become irrelevant (just look at their leaderboards on Sundays)...and if the Majors keep ignoring and excluding LIV golfers, and abide by the fake and irrelevant OWGR, they will also fade into PGA Elevated Events...my opinion anyway.
What would Pro football be without greed?
No jeopardy for the mercenaries. They do not need to play at all with squillions banked away. Just a circus without soul. Am just watching Ernie in a playoff with Loren Roberts and Monty. Try the old stuff.
I think Liv players , they sold their souls 😢……from Tokyo
How do you figure that?
At least the ones who haven't won,if there are any?
I agree with B-Team this was strategic. Too much chatter from PGAT players about OWGR worthlessness. Pre-announcement for PIF’s Plan B.
Almost shocking ITBanner that Fitzpatrick said what he said. It’s a breadcrumb to something else.
As I have said before. Liv create the Grand Slam of golf. 4 Majors. 1 in Asia Pacific shared with Australia,New Zealand,Korea and Japan. 1 in Europe shared with golf playing countries. 1 in Nth Sth America and 1 in
Sth Africa and other African golf playing countries. Make it truly global.
Wonder how the players, who were promised standing, are reacting to this? Are they seeing their future wiped out for a fabulous payday, now put under glass? And would any of them admit it?
Jimmer - Caleb Surratt is perhaps the best source of insight on the “access to Majors” point. Have you watched the LIV podcast on which he was guest?
If I were 35 and desperately wanted to win my first Major, I would be less likely to go to a LIV tour that made that harder (although many, many calculations on how “harder” is defined). But if I were 20-24 years old and desperately wanted to win my first Major, my decision making process on playing LIV vs PGAT would be very different than that 35 year old.
What top college player isn’t talking about LIV right now as a possibility or even their top objective?
@@ThinkingManShow Didn't Caleb join before the SSG announcement? And way before LIV stop seeking standing? I'd like to hear what he thinks about the move now. If the players weren't rich beyond mortal souls I'd have more compassion for Caleb and the rest.
Caleb was recruited by Jon Rahm to join his team. That took place in late January and he announced Jan 30th.
You seem to against players making big money Jimmer. You want to limit what people earn or you want a pay cap of some sort?
@@ThinkingManShow No, I want great players to win big money, not be bought by it. Look, I get you're LIV boosters but I wish you two would show more objectivity about what LIV is doing to pro golf. That's what I was looking for but I'm getting one viewpoint which is getting boring. I'm being honest. Shock me by analyzing the agreement demise, a deep dive. Thanks.
We want to be the home of rational thought Jimmer. On all things - golf or not. The PGAT reaction to LIV golf was appalling, as bad as any company could react. We love golf and have always felt Phil was right - just our natural feeling.
The “blood money” thing was so stupid we couldn’t help but be amazed at a large segment eager to poop on Saudi without any understanding of global politics. Those same fans can celebrate a Japanese player winning The Masters - rightfully so - without a moments thought of 12/7/1941 or Bataan or Nanking or a long list of atrocities. Amazingly irrational.
Nanking:

Saudis can buy a plot of land in Georgia and build an Augusta replica, a plot of land in Europe an build the best of the best course there, rebuild any course in the world to create 5 continent venues besting the current Majors and probably not spend more than 200 million and save another 800 million not bothering to get Rory.
They are already playing in Valderama which is considered to be Europès Augasta
Sage Valley Golf Club is a great course, looks quite a bit like Augusta
@@DanielSong39 exactly, They added Augusta in 1934 and the other majors keep moving so Majors can change.
I found LIV so uninspired and have no intention to pay for awe corporate golf. Honestly who cares about what they do on the LIV tour, really?
LIV will no longer be playing in the US by the end of this year
We don’t see any evidence that points to that.
More like the OWGR told LIV Golf where to go 🤣
Majors without best players is a no go. LIV likely has concluded that they’ve reached the tipping point by having enough top players that a “Majors boycott” is now a major problem.
PIF is pissed, pgatour partnership is definitely off, gloves are coming off, absolutely strategic, i was watching some vision of Yasir in the pro am in Jeddah, he had the look of a man who was happy and comfortable "cat with the cream" comes to mind. MBS has obviously said to Yasir I've got your back, go get them
Like your take Dereck “MBS says go do what you need to do”. Would you agree that Yasir and MBS have had this gamed out from the beginning: if PGAT first wonderful, if not then Euro Tour first.
@@ThinkingManShow I think originally PIF wanted a partnership with pgatour and dp world tours but the short sightedness of those tours and some of the appalling and hypocritical things Monahan, Pelley and their lackies have said over time have made it much more unlikely. There are some very smart people at PIF so for sure they have planned it out with several contingencies.
Screw LIV. Mickelson has zero power. He is what 50. He can show up at a major and won’t make any cut. Rahm maybe, he has no competition. Koepka the same thing. These guys are playing has beens and old wannabe’s. Nothing to look at.
Liv golf is the Shell's Wonderful World of Golf. Instead of sports washing the Saudis should start cleaning up the damage to the environment from their petro dollars.
If Rory wins the Masters hes on LIV the next day
Rex and Lav hating on AK s return is pathetic
These hacks should be called out
Ak in Ryder cup performance buys him lifetime pass as far as Im concerned
IMO it’s strategic from Norman and pif in the sense that
LIv players already lost so many points and getting retroactive points seem unlikely. So liv have less and less to gain from this owgr slow play, per their design of course…as it is the only true leverage they have, even if it costs them (owgr) and the majors credibility.
So yea telling them to go eat dirt makes a lot of sense strategically.
But As we are seeing, it’s not just LIv, it looks like the golf world is moving on from the owgr. Fitzpatrick named data golf as his ranking system as he discredited owgr.
Note: my man Cantlay also made a lot of similar comments to those other 3 you mentioned.
Step 1 imo for the majors is giving all LIv winners invites.
I like your scenario and should work and be good for golf and golfers. The loser would be The PGA Tour. Everyone else is a winner. The DP World Tour could also have a North American events.
Thx 2T. And sure all 3 North America venues: Mex, Canada and US.
NOBODY watched the Hong Kong event. If they did they would have seen exhibition clown golf on a short, sub-par golf course with slow greens and no fans. LIV is dead in 5 years
Greens were fast even with damp conditions. Where are you getting your viewer data Supernova? Have you played the Hong Kong track?
@ThinkingManShow Baloney, they were barely rolling at 11 on the stimp. Anybody whose a decent golfer could see that. Also, the grass was burnt around the fairways, and there wasn't any rough. There was no comparison to Bay Hill, where the greens were around a 13 and the course was immaculate.
liv has the best players in the world, so every liv event is a major. case closed. the old majors is for 2.rank player, will this make the liv fans happy
Look .. if you got a product .. SELL IT. LIV wants it both ways .. we want your validation but want to be the premier golf tour.
Sorry … can’t be done. Right now .. PGA has the tour and the players and the development programs to bring on new players.
LIV is just a scavenge tour. See who we can “buy-off” this season to play a Mikey-Mouse tour. “These players are really happy”
OF COURSE THEY ARE!!!.. most are no longer at their prime and getting millions to just “Show up” .. for not even a full 4 day work week.
Who in their right mind wouldn’t love the “job” of playing on the LIV when you run out of work on PGA??
“Money for nothing” .. the song of the LIV …
Gooch made no effort to play other events that had ranking pts
Once LIV either gets fair OWGR points or they get access to the Majors, the PGA Tour as we know it will be effectively finished. The OWGR want to stretch this as long as possible to squeeze more money out of LIV. The should just buy the DP World Tour and split off a section as LIV which would be similar to the PGA Tour’s elevated events.
Seems to me PIF can buy ads in golf magazines for the magazine to do rankings on an even handed basis. Each poll/ranking will be independent, but no doubt each will laugh at OWGR results and they may shame the majors for their snubs. I wonder if that is the next strategic move.
Good show guys….at this point. I think at first WE ALL thought that the PIF was gonna throw money at the wall….see what would stick….get everyone n everything…but with these announcements, it seems that the are throwing ideas at this and making some smart moves.. while the PGA is still trying to round up the chickens with the same ol same ol. I watched the pga tournament last Sunday. I like that Jake Knapp kid. The Billy Ho’s n the bottom feeders are just fillers for the pga format…..cheers
Thx as always Camo.
ERM NO HE DIDNT, THEY WERENT GETTING THEM GET IT RIGHT, LIV IS A TOUR OF 3 DAY GOOFING ABOUT AND MEANS NOWT, ITS A CLOWNS SHOW.
Not an accurate analysis Alastair.
Yes, OWGR has continued to reject the LIV Golf application for points and LIV continued to consider additional changes to their structure in order to get approval from OWGR. Now, LIV has canceled their application and said they no long are interested in points from OWGR.
DP World and LIV makes a lot of sense. Can then position LIV like the Cricket IPL benefitting players within a World Tour.
LIVE = globetrotters
All sold and just show.
No risk , no sport, all milloner, etc
Not an objective or fair analysis Santiago. If the PGAT had been better to the players before LIV forced them, there most likely would be no LIV.
The majors r quickly becoming pga tour elevated events. With out liv players, and probably not tiger 🐅, the majors r going to get left behind in the world golf scene.
The Majors are on the shakiest ground they’ve ever been on in modern history.
The LIV blows and gets what it deserves
LIV is a Saudi cash bonfire!
My prediction is a take over kd the Asian Tour fully and a rebranding. To do DPWT deal is a buy out of the strategic partnership.
have you seen The Players? Birdy Harvesting by the PGA Tour...crap line up, they are setting up the course to harvest birdies...Jeezaz !
I think you guys strategically or accidentally left out that Zalatoris said everyone should act like Arnie and the world would be better. I.e. don’t be greedy like LIV and play for the competition of it.
But again I ask the question, who was DJ 15 years ago? Koepka? Bryson? Nobody’s. So why isn’t Jake Knapp the next DJ? Why isn’t Dunlap the next Speith? People made their names by winning. Why wouldn’t this continue to happen organically?
Thx Mac. Didn’t see that part of the Zalatoris quote in Golf Digest. We would mention otherwise. “Act like Arnie” the guy who started the PGAT in 1968 to make more money for the players. The King who made pro golfers wealthy via TV coverage which took off because of him. Yes, good mention by Will.
They shouldn’t have named their league LIV. Now it’s harder to change their format to 72 holes which is all they have to do force OWGRs hand to give them ranking points. I like watching LIV events better than the pga events but what so bad about playing 72 holes and allowing their golfers to be compared like apples to apples. Their players have won on the DP and Asian tours which are 72 holes. They want to play in majors which are 72 holes. Ive heard that the players like the 14 events per year but I haven’t heard the players say they are against playing 72 holes.
Why don't they adopt the EXACT same format as the PGA Tour? How would that be?
I thought the significance of LIV (54) signified the perfect round of golf, aka 18 under aka 54 on a par 72? no? sure I've heard that somewhere but I might have it wrong....aren't they offering a super-mega-bonus if someone actually shoots a 54?
LIV already offered to do 72 holes with cut and OWGR still said no.
@locobenno9435 yes. They just happen to have 54 players per event now
@@locobenno9435It was confirmed by Bryson after he shot the 58, that if a player shoots 54 they get a $54,000,000 bonus
Until they move from a 54 hole format to a 72 hole format, LIV will remain outside the OWGR. It's as simple as that!
It's a pointless ranking system
Pretty sure they don't give a shit at this point. Something bigger is coming. Just curious are there any tours that play 54 holes and get ranking points?
LIV being 54 holes is irrelevant to whether they get OWGR recognition. There are various development and lesser tours earning OWGR points that are 54 holes so that point is moot. Same with no cut events. People mentioning shot gun starts I don't know where they get that from why on earth would having people tee off at the same time in same conditions be a negative towards OWGR points? The only worthwhile point is LIV being a closed tour but now with the relegation system it no longer is. It's a lot more closed than other tours but it's not totally closed.
Hence getting zero points doesn't make sense at all. Reducing points because of the above does make sense and that is all that needs to be done and should have been done from the get go.
I am all for the PGA getting more points than LIV, but how on earth is winning an Alps Tour or Big Easy Tour or Challenge Tour event worth more than winning a LIV event? Lets nie realistic. They should at the very least earn the same as a alternate PGA Tour event.
How does one more round of 18 make OWGR rankings valid. Why not 90 holes, or 108. What makes you think 72 is a magic number for ranking professional golfers? You sound like Judge Smails. Tell you what, your private Bushwood club can rate their golfers on consecutive 4 rounds. The rest of us will just play golf and watch the best golfers where they are playing.
@@charlesbond4413I agree 110%
Yawn …
If only Greg had a bit more charisma................😂
OWGR has no interest in giving points to someone who does not meet criteria. LIV is a cash drain on PIF, draws low attendance, low number of sponsors, and a terrible tv deal. LIV is desperate
🤡
LIV currently is a total FLOP. Very small amount of viewers. No revenue. The PGA TOUR is still what golf is and always has been. Which is history, tradition, the grind of making the cut and four rounds to the winners circle. The depth of the field has ALWAYS been the winner in golf. Tiger Woods tied the most wins ever, 82, and has the Highest wins rate percentage. And for all of his greatness he only won 22% of his tournaments, 78% he lost. And don’t forget that’s number one all time. Even if John Rahm, or Bryson DeChambeau, DJ, etc. were still in the PGA, the field would still be the odds favorite to be the winner. Matsuyama was amazing and congrats to Jake…..these PGA guys are elite golfers. Hey but LIv doesn’t need OWGR, pga, R&A, why not have the Saudi’s just keep paying out of pocket get more players and be happy in their own golf world. How Greg Norman got the Saudis to agree to pay out of pocket for a farce league should be commended, it’s amazing he pulled that off. LIV is a partial senior citizens tour, Phil, Ian, GMAc, Pat Perez, c’mon man Pat Perez, and to add insult to injury they pay AK. The Arnold Palmer is stacked and I’ll be tuning in for that.
20 mill. World wide last week. The U S is NOT the world.
@@jeremiahwasabullfrog957 LIV needs good luck with that. That won’t even cover the payout for just one tournament. NOBODY, and I mean nobody cares about the team results in LiV. As if anyone is going to be like “remember when the Crushers won that won tournament” lol it’s a joke. And then they only play 3 rounds??? Golf is four rounds after making the cut. The Arnold Palmer isn’t missing those guys, they are missing the Arnold.
