@Richard DeVitto he never makes the claim his show is for the journeyman, but rather the apprentice. Even so, accomplished journeymen can still learn watching his methods. I’ve never known the many ways of using a grinder wheel as I’ve seen him use. We all pick up something.
Hey man I'm not in your area (not even The same state!) I got into hvac after retiring from the military. Please keep up the great work you do. There is no doubt you are saving lives!
Hats off for being the professional last word. You're held to a higher standard because you know better. If it's a dangerous situation, fitting me into your schedule isn't an option. If that family dies, the lawyer will RIGHTFULLY say, "we listened to the professionals." My professional recommendation is that it needs looking at now, and if you want me, that's a requirement.
Nice job Mike , 1) confirmed the customers complaint 2 ) determine the cause of the problem 3) made a correction/ repair). 4) tested the results of your work twice... outstanding job young man. Pete M
Interesting that the pilot was hot enough to satisfy the thermocouple circuit in the gas valve but not hot enough to do rapid ignition and flame propagation to the adjacent burners. You taught me something new today. thank you. Nice job bending the pilot gas tubing.
Superb craftsmanship bro. I’ve been doing this for years and never even thought for a second to use my tubing bender on the pilot line 🤯🤯 so simple and yet it raises the bar that much higher. I’ll never replace a pilot line w/o one again!!!
Very nice fix. I'm not even an apprentice but dealt with a large boiler for a 60000 plus sq foot building. Didn't install it but the owner was having issues after I had left so being a decent guy I went down to help him get heat back on. The fins on the boiler tubes had sooted up so badly that the flames were coming below the front guard scorching the wiring, scary stuff for sure. At one point it was manually controlled so that the owner would have to watch the forecast and manually set a water temp for the building heat. I added in a controller that would take the outside temp and ramp the water temp up as it got colder outside. We still manually set a minimum with the original controller but no longer needed to micro manage the thing like we originally had to which could be a couple times a day unless we wanted to hear about temperature being too hot or cold. Ended up leaving because the owner became a major jerk about money. Guy bought a 30000 sq foot building that was due to be demoed and then blew cash doing stupid stuff. Told him multiple times to get his fire alarm panel fixed. A couple years later the Fire Marshal got an anonymous tip that there could be some issues. They showed up and the fire panel was screaming it was in fault as it had for years so they shut the whole building down and from my understanding it's basically condemned due to that and other major issues.
Good morning Mike I'm a licensed hvac mechanic with over 25yrs of experience and unfortunately the men coming up in the trade don't seem to want to learn your definitely a great mechanic
Nice to see you take the time to check out everything. And put it all back nice and neat .nice to see Hvac from NY . Maybe I’ll see you guys at Johnston supply. Be safe .
I just subscribed to your channel, and I have watched a few of your videos. I really appreciate your professionalism. You do very good work, and your clients benefit from that. I am a 2-yr HVAC tech and I used to live and work in Central NJ. I worked on gas boilers and furnaces. I moved to NC about 3 yrs ago, and while there are a few boilers down here in older parts of a city, no one knows how to work on them. Love the vids, keep them coming.
Nice job. First time seeing one of your videos. Two things that are violations where I’m at is that coupling inside the cabinet of the boiler and we’re required a minimum of a 6” long drip leg. Gas company will shut you off if they see either of those. Usually doesn’t happen unless the gas gets turned off ( didn’t pay bill, changed owners, etc). But they do a full inspection before turning it back on and those would have to addressed first.
Wow fantastic. ! Is it normal for the burners to be that black ? Something got toasty didn't it ? Side note. There is something fault with the controls . It shouldn't have lit if pilot was not defected . Subscribed.
You guys are AMAZING, and honest and your company reputation to you and it was built on dam hard work --- Unlike Burnham that is buying CHEAP china steel and putting into their boiler and when reputable company install them, you are being blamed, because Burnhan is tell customer, the installer is at fault, which you know if BS. Remember the Burham you worked on, with the white smoke coming out the chimney, as if we were electing a Pope? Well, that's the tip of the iceberg, and the executive at Burnham are saying that, it really not true that boiler should last more than 10 years. So I wanted the public to know, they are going to piss their investment away, when they install Burham Boiler because, Weil-McLain and Pearless believe their boiler is make to last, and it is the reason Burnham will f-up your company reputation...but you're already figure it out, i'm just letting your customer know.
Where's the Kaboom? I was expecting an Earth Shattering Kaboom! ;-) Guess I'll head back over to "beyond the press". Love the way you bend that tubing!
Thanks for this video, helped me sort out a baisi combi 28 he with blocked burners. The whole boiler casing was exploding when it was on central heating mode.

Would suggest letting Kelvin do the work and you hold the camera. Hands on training is the best. It’s hard finding young people who want to do are kind of work. Thanks again Mike for the videos and it’s always good to learn something new. 👍👍
You should have addressed the zero pressure situation in the system. Very rarely to the tridicators malfunction. You should have replaced the boiler feed valve and check the expansion tank as well
I manage and maintain several small apartment properties. Last week I had a call for a wall heater that wouldn't light and the power company had said the heater needed replaced because of it. I check it out and discovered the pilot burner assembly was clogged. Poke a sewing needle into it a got it opened up and got the pilot to light only to discover a mouse had chewed through the thermostat wires in the wall. Wonderful.
