Wiring Loom/Harness Tuck, New Engine Covers and a new Performance Mod for my MK6 Fiesta ST150

- So after the engine bay cleaning video it was unanimous - the chrome engine/coolant/battery covers had to go. So I picked up some replacements alone with some over dress up parts. Some chrome remains but just the odd little touches. I also neatened up the alternator wiring that runs over the left hand side of the cam cover. Following a video guide by @6uiltdifferent so go check him out and subscribe to his channel if you haven't already! With the wiring tucked out of the way I installed the freshly painted engine cover and then, the big one, the mod you were all at me for when I fitted the intake vents, the Mountune CAIS - and boy does it look good next to all the other bits we've added. I'm so happy with how the engine bay is looking now and that CAIS is the next step on the road to 200bhp.

For the washers search for 'anodised washers' in the colour of your choice
For the bonnet latch I recommend M6 x 10mm countersunk bolts
For the latching mechanism in the slam panel I recommend M8 x 20mm countersunk bolts

at first i was not to sure but once it progressed i think it looks so damn good, very neat and clean looking, all that is missing is a upper strut brace. also i said this a few months ago i cant believe your channel isnt bigger, such good content, good stuff as usual
Thank you mate, yeah it really came together in the end. I might get a strut brace later in the year but I do have a handling mod inbound 👀 and thank you, it will come, I think when I make the more serious modifications I’ve got planned it’ll help but I’m really happy with how the channel is growing 🙌🏻
@@MendItModIt can highly recommend the omp anthracite (sp?) strut brace. Fits with the plastic windscreen wiper shroud in place and took me fifteen minutes so tells you anyone can do it. I'd avoid strutbraceruk or whatever they are called on ebay. Get one from elsewhere. Save yourself the pain.

The cold air intake look brilliant. With the engine cover I have to say it came out looking good but I am the type of person to paint the engine cover a different colour to the car to make it stand out more when showing it off.
Yeah I love the mountune intakes and I think they really go with the other covers, I get what you mean with the engine cover but I like a subtle engine bay 😂
The chrome was vile lol. Much better now, and even better without the weird plastic loom thing across the top of the engine.
I took a punt to try and be different but you’re right it wasn’t the one was it 😂😂

Now that you’ve moved the wiring. The original chrome engine cover you bought would now look better if you painted it instead.
Yeah I thought about painting it but it was in good condition so I didn’t want to scuff it up if that makes sense. It’ll be for sale with most of the other chrome bits soon

I have been wanting to do this for ages and was told Its easy to just cut and move to the left of the rocker cover but after watching this I defo can't do this myself, it's so much work to do 😞 Its just too fiddly a job for me and time wise.
I was hoping all I had to do was unlip the black bit left of rocker cover and shift the wires over so it's not covering the rocker cover

no its straight forward enough ..it gets complicated when u have to start extending the harness or removing plugs etc …get un there bud , no disrespect but your channel needs to step up and have a go at stuff like this , plug and play mods only can go so far , mike and ted are starting to pull away from you with subscribers, sorry to be so blunt …
@@swiftyrs2354 yeh wish I was more hands on but not been easy with the kid and busy at work. Just not got he time. Also when I have tried to do DIY sometimes I end up getting angry as I can't do it or spend more than getting it done professionally. Some people are just better at it.

Not a fan of the plastic covers for the battery/coolant bottle, they look a bit Halfords like. I think painting the chrome covers you had would look better and match the engine cover. Edit: with the mountune cold air intake the plastic covers do fit a lot better with the overall look.
Although personally I like the standard engine cover 😊
I get what you mean mate, I could still paint them to match the engine cover, I just felt they looked a bit more OEM unpainted, and I thought they’d match the intake better as I don’t want to paint that either, rather keep it as it comes from Mountune. I liked the standard engine cover too but I got hassled for that when I put the RamAir filter on 😂
Do you have to keep updating your insurance policy after every modification, bigger wheels , air filter ect?
yes ..aftermarket filter / non oe wheels …body kit etc , have to declare , if not could void your insurance on a claim / or insurance in general ..

Do you have to declare painted oe wheels ?
Yeah definitely declare your mods or any alterations from standard. Im on a modified policy and with mine any cosmetic, handling mods etc don’t affect my price, I can update them via their website and I get a revised list of all the mods I have each time I update it. Any performance upgrades that affect bhp I have to call them but as long as it doesn’t push it over an agreed level it still won’t affect my price.
@@MrPaulb1982 you know what I don’t actually know on that one, mate of mine once had issues claiming because he had red brake callipers and the insurance classed it as a mod 🤷🏻♂️ guess it depends on the company but it can’t hurt to just tell them everything
What's happening with this engine I thought the compression was gone on 2 of the cylinders?
i believe it still runs ok , just uses a tad of oil , once the mk7 engine he’s rebuilding is back in ,the st150 engine is next for a rebuild .
Mike should put it on the Dyno to see what it's making now that'd be a good video.
@@norm4260 yeah I need to get that sorted, like swifty said I will rebuild it most likely but yeah there’s another engine on the stand at the moment 😂 I would love to put it on a dyno but i don’t have one local sadly, I’ll look into it though as it would be good to see how much better it is just after a rebuild and then I’d know just how much power it makes when I push on with the performance mods.
Have you sold the ram air intake?
I haven’t yet mate no. I will be selling it but I do plan on using it for a video before I sell it
