DIY | RATTLE CAN | GLOSS BLACK | Painting Grilles and Trim *Fiesta ST150*

- A while back I split and painted the inside of my headlights, but ever since, the faded grey plastic grilles and bumper trim have really been letting the side down. So it was time to do something about it. I removed all the horrible grey plastics and prepped them ready for paint. I went with the classic gloss black and for a rattle can job I don't thing they came out half bad.

Cheers mate. You call these a MK5? I’ve heard them as a MK5 and a MK6, makes it so confusing when trying to buy parts 😂
@@MendItModIt definitely mk5 I’ve had 1,2,3 and currently mk7 the mk 5 is the fiesta I always wanted but some reason I opted for the focus st170 instead
@@MendItModIt I found out it's a Gen 5 (like you'll see it listed on ebay for parts 'Fiesta V') but also a MK6. So it's both but the terms get confused. Google search "wikipedia ford fiesta ST" was a pretty interesting read.
@@MendItModIt its because they don't acknowledge the facelift mk4 as being the mk5 so mainly European countrys call it the fiesta 5. Where as we have the mk4, mk5, mk6, mk6.5 (facelift) mk7, mk7.5 (facelift) and mk8

@@MendItModIt yeah definitely make it look so much better. Holding up well so far. Mine came out the same as yours with the grills really glossy and the other bits not quite as good but I’m really happy with it for a diy job. The sanding and prep took me ages to do.

Good job there. Best to apply a plastic primer and a hard clear coat. I need to do this on my black zetec S. I'm thinking I might tell my dad to do it as I have no spray painting experience
I see a lot of people on youtube make a lot of fantastic mods to the car , buth please start to clean the rusty things on youre car mate . I,m at the moment bizzy to paint and sanding al the parts behind the lichts , bumpers an behind the weels. After this i start instal my mods . Every one his own style only saying ✌️✌️ thanks for you video's man i learn a lot from you al in the UK . In the Netherlands are not that much people on youtube

To get the best pro glossy look finish it with 2k coat.Nice fiesta i got mk5 only red need to paint the bumpers 😂
Yeah man the 2k stuff I’ve used on other things since is next level, even in an aerosol 😳

You can do all that without taking the bumpers off mate. All can be clipped off or out
Yeah it just made life a lot easier to remove them for me, some of the clips can be a pain 😂 most of my arch liner clips/screws are missing so the front bumper was only 3 bolts each side and the rear was already missing the rivets so it only took me a few minutes to remove the bumpers.
How did you take out the like plastic bits where the lights are and the rear reflective bits ?
Looks so good in black. The thing I have left to do is the lower grill. Do you have to remove the whole bumper to get it off, or can you just Jack the car up & push the clips out that way?
Yeah it makes such a difference. You don’t have to remove the bumpers no but most of my arch liner clips/screws are missing so it was only 3 bolts each side for me so took less than 5 mins to remove the front bumper. The back you would have to drill out the two rivets to remove the bumper but should be easy enough to remove the diffuser and reflector surrounds with the bumper still on. 👌🏻

Do I need to sand and prime the 2 grills as a fair bit of paint has came off or is it okay to just spray the black gloss straight on
I've done virtually the same to my 1,25 zetec,. But I'm looking for the rear bottom grill with the half pipe for the exhaust..
The cut out you mean? Not sure what the bumpers are like on those but they might do one, if not, cut one out 😈 then sand it smooth and paint 👌🏻

I have got an mk7 Ford Fiesta 2011 that is black and has a colour code that is D9. does it matter what black spray paint you use?

I have a mk6 1.25Z .My fog lights look the same as the ST "but" there's no screw to release...How can I pop them out ...? Is it attack from under the bumper..👍
Oh I wouldn’t know on the other models but if there’s no screw I’d guess it’s clipped in from the back somehow yeah, might be a bumper off job, but then just take the bumper off regardless cause it makes things so much easier
I'm thinking about getting an ST bumper do they fit a standard mk6 ZT (late)56 reg
@@alanpercival6428 I’m pretty sure they do, got a mate with a 1.25 that has the full ST kit on, I’ll message him and let you know if he had any hassle with it
@@alanpercival6428 front and rear bumpers are a straight swap mate. Only things that need extra is the side skirts, they’’d need sealing on

How long did you wait in between priming and painting?
About the same amount of time as I left between coats of either 👍🏻
