John, I know you haven't posted for a while. I just wanted to let you know you are missed. Your talent is an inspiration for beginners and professionals alike. I know I'm not alone in saying that we would love to see more of your work. All the best!
Fascinating technique. Simple but not simple to envision and work with the water and paint. Love the music too to inpire the mood. First time I saw your video. Will try this soon. Thank you so much!
How beautiful this is,thank you for sharing this awesome demo.I call it "spontaneous watercolor painting",just let the water paint for you, just like you said.Sometimes the images you get, just grabs your imagination.🌹
Thanks Iynn. I never get bored of watching the pigment create organic shapes. I do a lot of rough "trial and error" so I can get comfortable with trying to corral the watercolour paints. Always a lot of fun . . . at times.
As a visually impaired watercolor hobbyist, I'm so enjoying your work. I paint abstract and just love putting paint to paper. I recently found your channel, and am enjoying your techniques tremendously. Thank you John
I just stumbled across your channel. Not only inspiring but incredibly peaceful to just watch you work. Thank you for sharing your gift to make art that allows open hearted space to contemplate.
Beautiful. I like the hard edges against the flow of colors in the subject. I also like the paper showing through in some areas, particularly the strip on the lower left.
Hi Kirby, thanks for the positive response. This painting incorporates a new technique. Always looking at new ways to explore my creative expression, keeping it loose while having fun.
Hi Wendy, thank you for your wonderful comment. Big part of watercolour is learning to add a little paint to the water and watch with patience. And as you said, watercolour will paint itself. 👍 Less is more!
Strange how life comes together: at the weekend I bought some W&N olive green paint and was thinking of ways of using it and then low and behold your video pops up and is using olive green paint. Seems to be happening a lot with me of late with regards watercolour. You have a new subscriber!
This is sublime and reminds me of the work by the absolutely amazing Lena Gemzoe. I already loved the fact that you demonstrate what breathtaking outcomes are possible when an artist opts to use a very limited palette. And so to see you embracing this wonderful "highwire watercolour technique" - that's awesome bro! (Which is one of the highest forms of praise here in New Zealand!)
Hi Sharon, big thanks for the positive comment. And yes, Lena Gemzoe is a big influence for me. You should also check out the work of Kanta Harusaki. Awesome watercolour artist! UA-cam is full of great influence's. The technique of elevating the paper to allow the watercolour pigment and water to do there thing is very rewarding to watch. I've tried this technique in the past with disastrous results. I have learnt, less is more in this medium. Hope you enjoy following along as I evolve my art. You never know where the journey will end up👍
@@look4light - Thank you so much for pointing me in the direction of Kanta Harusaki. I've been binge-watching all of his posts on UA-cam and you're absolutely right to apply that (hallowed) word "awesome" in relation to this artist and his art. Several of his pieces even brought tears to my eyes. And it wasn't just the astonishing end results that affected me so but simply witnessing his sheer mastery of his chosen medium as well. It's like he's wrangling water, pigment and paper to produce effects I never thought possible with watercolour. Awesome... By the way, are your pieces available to buy somewhere online?
Hi Michele, I experiment with many different items to apply paint. Most of the time, if not a brush. I will use a palette knife. With this painting I wanted to try a different applicator. The cardboard was close at hand. In the past I have used sticks and steelwool. Anything that will create an organic feel to the painting.
Great technique and beautiful colors, allowing the watercolor shines by nature fundamental principles. Great work! 💚💚💚
Thanks for your comment. Appreciate it.
So many ways to work with water color, that this one is interesting by zen attitude
Watching this video is akin to meditation. There is room to breathe, and room for the eye to rest.
The process, technique and result are transporting; mind dissolving
I LOVE your work - when the paint and water interact withour force, magic happens ❤ this is my kind of watercolor 😊
Thank you very much!
Interesting how you used such thick paint for the mountains
Trabalho lindo ! O mínimo com a extração do máximo com liberdade!
Muchas gracias. Agradezco tu comentario positivo.

So incredibly beautiful - You are so good at letting the water colour paint itself

Great demo and helpful. Also, I liked that you didn’t waste time talking but could so do without the music😊
Amazing, thanks
John, great demo and it encourages me to go the abstract route I am seeking in my work. Thanks for posting!

Currently I am not selling my paintings. I will let you when that changes.
😊❤
Lovely. Any particular reason why you use card rather than a flat brush to apply the paint?

@@look4light Many thanks. You have definitely inspired me to experiment too!
I love this John!
Thanks for your positive comment. I enjoy trying new techniques, this is definitely one to explore.
How do you keep the tape from ripping the paper when you take it off
Its painters tape, found in the house paint department of any home decorating store. Low tack.

There was a dragon at 2:30...put then he got wiped away....
It's amazing what one will see in an abstract painting. I love staring at the clouds to see what illuminates.
Want to be friend.
