This is what Bruce Lee taught, Master Moses Powell, Chuck Norris, etc. Wing Chun, etc. EXCELLENT INSTRUCTION, Thank you, Sensei!!
I learned wing chung. Its a nice way of formal fighting. In that dojo my sifu was sharing his dojo with taekwondo students. Before the wing chung student could set up the taekwondo students kicked them exactly what I just saw on this video. And as far as the yelling, I think hes trying to give people power points. I wonder if they teach caning?
Stop shouting man!!!
I’m not going to say I’ve seen a ton of self-defence videos, but I am going to say no one I’ve seen comes close to clearly instructing, communicating, imploring, and demonstrating like you. You are phenomenal teachers. Your clients are very fortunate to have you. 👌👏
I have watched a LOT of videos on self defense and this man knows his stuff. His teaching is intuitive without a lot of steps to memorize. Awesome information. How to drop someone in 3 moves is my favorite.
I am 79 and not likely to fight any time soon. But if I were a young man, I would sign up to study with this man. I think he has real wisdom and talent.
Keeping your hands high in a non threatening
Position makes the opponents’ eyes focus on them which opens this tactic even more !
I agree. always put your hands up first. things develop so fast and crazily.
Putting in the distraction strike and allowing you to tear up the attackers script and apply your own- great advice. Good video.
Finally some REAL self defense strategies.
Nice advice. Case in point. Years ago when I was a kid, there was a guy in school who had a reputation as a good street fighter. Once I asked him what he did, and he showed me. Kick the leg first then follow with punches. Sometime after, a guy came at me all mad. I kicked him on the shin like in this video. The kid dropped to the ground as if I’d hit him on the head. So, positive proof.
In the “old days” of brawling in boozers in the U.K. I learnt some lessons at a young age. I had words with an older guy I was only 17, I offered him outside.. big mistake, I walked out first… I saw coppers stood down the street and turned round to say I’m not fighting while coppers are ere,, to late BANG! a massive boot to my knee he had steel toe caps boots on lol I went down like a bag of shite! Lessons learned…. So I get it, I now teach my boys wisdom and a few tips on street fighting… they have kick boxed from a very young age, I will be showing them this vid thank you 🙏 they are nearly teenagers now and are always looking for new techniques 👍
So obvious but no one every talks about it. Perfect!
One of the best moves I never heard of before!!!!!!
I'm an English gent of 70 years old and this is great advice. I wear steel capped Brogue shoes. They are a dress shoe that you might wear with a suit but you can get them with steel toe caps and are worn by managers in the construction industry and the such like. Because they are for industry they have really good grippy soles. And as you say a good kick in the shin with a steel capped toe or even the pelvis area keeps people out of attack range. As a carpenter I used to have a sharp pencil behind my ear at all times. If someone was to get out of his pram as we say, it can be used with devastating effect. And in England we are not allowed to carry anything which may be considered a weapon.
Love it! I tell people about this all the time. Happy to hear you talking about it.
This is great. Glad I found it! Thanks
You make some good points 👍 Keep up the good work👍
I noticed long ago that big dudes often have weak shins
Thank You for the useful. practical information in helping keep us safe.
Great advice
Thank you
Simple and strategic! Great advice!
Thank you 👍
You guys are great, subbed!
Wow. That is great lesson. Thank you very much.
I’m 71 now I did wado ryu karate, I’m 4th dan. For once I’ve seen a sensible practical martial arts master. Respect to you my friend, you talk sense, you know your stuff. If you can train with this guy. Michael in the uk.
You are 100% correct on this. I have Wing Chun dummy that I practice on and I always aproach the dummy with a kick to the leg, then come in for the punches.
Thanks brother
Thank You, I am impressed, and yes it’s very practical, and I just subscribed.
Good advice from Proff. & Kenny
Thanks!
Hats off to you mister👏👏👏👏🤗
This is the absolute best advice for self defense I have ever seen. Especially for someone like me who has no formal martial arts training but I used to kick box as a young man and my legs are the strongest limbs. I like to be prepared since nowadays with all these road ragers and crazies out there I want to be prepared.
yes but after the kick the fight has started, no going back. if you think you will win the fight it's a good tactic, otherwise ...
If someone comes into your personal space the fight already started
Otherwise you keep the advantage
Just very good advice and tremendously good instructions from someone who KNOWS REALITY. He really got my attention. Gold content. I very much liked and subscribed.
Absolutely right on. Simplicity is the key to survival on the streets.
Short and sweet
Thanks buddy
SMART - drawn from observations all of us have missed!
Quality tip and I like his style of teaching
Great. Defense Kick!; Look. and Kick! Thanks
Good info
Yep, smart advice.
excellent video...when I was young and starting out in martial arts, I practiced close combat techniques like this, they are extremely important. This includes palm strikes to face, eye gouges, and groin strikes. You're not trying to win a tournament, you're trying to save your life. Why are people afraid of dogs? They bite, remember that. Thank you professor
Yes I agree 100% I'm 58 yrs old living in nyc. Anything can happen at anytime. I'm thinking of taking self defense classes and getting in better shape. Good luck to u. God bless
Knees and bollocks the mantra I gave my daughter when we were training.
Great video
This is good shit. I do this in kickboxing sparring. Disrupt the feet they drop their hands and the world is yours
NICE stuff
Yes sir: I hit that subscribe button. Ego is not your Amigo! Good practical stuff! Situational awareness.
You got my sub coach!
Exactly right. That leg comes right up off the ground, it's a beautiful thing
Very nice
I used that shin kick all the time in the dojo in kumite. Most of us who had any sense wore shin protectors. Even being kicked by the other guy with bare feet on shin protectors ,my shins were bruised heavily.
I used to kick my opponent in the shins and follow up with either a back fist strike ( uraken ).or a straight punch to the face or chest ) obviously i pulled the punch or back fist .
But not on the street. Its a fast unexpected attack as most guys standing arguing with uou wont expect a hard kick in the shins .i used mostly my outside edge of foot .Great demo .
Thank you Professor for always thinking outside the box. The scenario's and concepts that you and Shihan Ken bring forth demonstrate your deep rooted knowledge as well as your commitment to your students' self preservation. Like I said before, "ya gotta luv these two". Oh yeah, again, look outside the dojo windows. Night time.. While others' have gone home for the day, these two are putting in the "overtime" to put out useful content. Much respect!
Great Vid
Studied with Rex Lee....had a couple of lessons and budokhan with the Prof. Moses Powell ...exactly what they taught..only goal is victory...and preservation
Excellent! When I was sparring I usually kick low. It is not expected and very hard to defend against. Don't forget to kick the other leg too. Also, you can step into his ankle. Now your opponent is very unsteady.
Also, remember that all opponents have the same weaknesses: EYES EARS NOSE THROAT
How about a quick finger jab into the eyes? Blind your opponent. Then clap his ears. Boom
the fight is over!
Don't forget the "JUNK"
Yes ,if you fight someone without legs and arms
@@Carlos.M726 How about a quick poke in the eye? What did you learn to do?
Good technique
old school for a reason....lived long enough to know.
Thanks for a great video and practical advice ! Never watched any of your video's before and I am impressed. (Wish you were closer, because I'd want to learn from you guys). "Do you not see with your own eyes" ? "Are you not seeing what's going on" ? "Do you not believe what you are seeing" / Wow, no one ever speaks of these things. I't always in terms of when an aggressor is already in your face. I believe for many of us it's not wanting to believe we are faced with a confrontation. Why ? Because normal people do not want to bother others and we sure don't want to be threatened. But evil knows those who mind their own business and thinks they are easy prey.
I think it's great that Derek White agreed to help out on this video. 🏀
When I was about 16 I asked a judo star if he could teach me a few tricks. He agreed, took up a stance, and kicked me in the shin! I was instantly on the deck yelping in agony. Meanwhile my best mate was rolling around laughing his head off!! Good lesson though.
I agree with understanding the situation & acting in self defense. However, if he is walking towards you aggressively, with intent to harm, and you strike him first with any part of your body, a District Attorney may file against you so now you are defending against a criminal charge.
And are their witnesses which is another factor. Are they friends of the attacker?
Consider the legal aspects of you action.
So what. Rather get charges pressed by the DA than let someone get off on me first and possibly getting seriously injured.
You have no idea what you are talking about. Reasonable belief of imminent harm is the standard, and a low kick is non-lethal force. A "Charge" means nothing. A charge WILL come if you're been in a self-defense situation. This legal shit is what makes people hesitate and get killed, as almost happened to me. Shove that crap back up your ass.
You are right. In my country, Spain, happens the same. When an attacker goes for you, you get charged with the burden to discern in a fraction of a second whether are you going to be hit or not (impossible task in that moment, but the judge and the jury will have days to demonstrate that you had to be still). Let them do their job, yours is to remain unharmed: avoid the confrontation if you can but hit first if the foe charges you.
Nice 👍🏻
In no way do I have your level of training but have enjoyed (mostly in my head) the concept of self defense, since the 1970's. My go to scenario (again, in my head) in defending against an unexpected attack is a kick to the knee. I am glad to finally see the low kick advocated by a pro.
Nice
Use what they give ya, violence of action is your friend!
Nice, simple, uncomplicated.
I've seen some good content, but damn, I like this.
makes sense
¡¡¡Madre mía!!, ¡¡Qué cara tienen!!!. Otro como los chinos del "CHI".
Agree
I have always defended and fought like this. They don't expect it and it doesn't half hurt them, when you are a regular wearer of steel toe cap boots 👍💪
I've thought this is the best first strike you can make if you are in an altercation. If you take out a man's shin(lower leg), he'll have a hard time standing. A man that can't stand too well, can't fight too well!! Really good advice Sir!!
I miss used a low-kick; the result still worked for me; I fired too soon, forced me to hit him in the hip. Force spun the attacker. He still landed a grazing blow, resulting in a black eye. But I was able to get him in a hold. We ended up under a stair case. Broke my fifth metacarple because of the hammer fist I used on him.
Sifu told me to use my foot lift it half circular side way to contact with a low kick. It will cause the attacker to stumble out of balance. It works .
Great defense vid ! Plz show us how your 87 yr old/young instructor fought after age 70. Did he wear steel toed athletic shoes? 👟 Tks! I sub'd
Ka-Pow!
We learnt the same thing in Karate. Good move 😮
Is it ball of foot or inside or outside knife edge of foot?
Wish you all the best im gonna train krav maga
Yep. But unfortunately what you imagine in your head and what happens irl are many times very different things.
That time when plain common sense seems like magical , mystical teaching to some people. Nice common sense video.
I am confused....Do you strike his chin with your toes or the underbelly of your foot, including under the toes and and front pad of your foot? Because if you dont connect properly, your foot can actually glide up his shin with little impact.
Wam Bam Whoom. Got it.
Bas Rutten says never underestimate the value of a good kick to the groin
Kick in the shin may be the end of it right there. Especially if you wearing al school classic shoes with leather soles, and kick with the rib of the sole. In addition with those shoes you can kick with your toe or heel and that is almost like hammer.
that shin pain is real. Even a light strike. And with shoe soles, or boots, man it hurts a lot. Like the coffee table, oof
At last a proper rational advice
Did he call me not normal? Just because my fingernails drag on sidewalk? Dat's cold!
I work in a dangerous environment. Thanks
Just don’t miss that kick or your done
Why the shin and not the knee?
I carry a cane and I never let an aggressor get closer to me that the tip of my 3-foot cane.
And, just another reason I exclusively wear Red Wing Black Smith boots.
8:43 I ain't sharin this with anybody, I'm keepin it all to masell. Gonna start wearin my steel-toecaps too. No prisoners. and Thank-You.
The law.
Man…y’all stole my lifelong technique. I’m a short guy and I’m an ankle kicking MFer. Ending s#it before it started. Right foot to right ankle without telegraphing…never failed.
I'm just gonna record and play his narration. Ain't nobody wanna get near me hearing dat !!.
lol ...Love the dramatics of these internet clowns.its good for a laugh if anything
Don't kick the foot, kick the balls with all your might.
The lesson is..... take the low road.
Its not arrogance or ego, striking first could lead to jail or lawsuits
This is a Muay Thai move
“ … they’re a freak, because that’s not normal- get the helll outa there”
