      I learned wing chung. Its a nice way of formal fighting. In that dojo my sifu was sharing his dojo with taekwondo students. Before the wing chung student could set up the taekwondo students kicked them exactly what I just saw on this video. And as far as the yelling, I think hes trying to give people power points. I wonder if they teach caning?

    Nice advice. Case in point. Years ago when I was a kid, there was a guy in school who had a reputation as a good street fighter. Once I asked him what he did, and he showed me. Kick the leg first then follow with punches. Sometime after, a guy came at me all mad. I kicked him on the shin like in this video. The kid dropped to the ground as if I’d hit him on the head. So, positive proof.

    In the “old days” of brawling in boozers in the U.K. I learnt some lessons at a young age. I had words with an older guy I was only 17, I offered him outside.. big mistake, I walked out first… I saw coppers stood down the street and turned round to say I’m not fighting while coppers are ere,, to late BANG! a massive boot to my knee he had steel toe caps boots on lol I went down like a bag of shite! Lessons learned…. So I get it, I now teach my boys wisdom and a few tips on street fighting… they have kick boxed from a very young age, I will be showing them this vid thank you 🙏 they are nearly teenagers now and are always looking for new techniques 👍

    I'm an English gent of 70 years old and this is great advice. I wear steel capped Brogue shoes. They are a dress shoe that you might wear with a suit but you can get them with steel toe caps and are worn by managers in the construction industry and the such like. Because they are for industry they have really good grippy soles. And as you say a good kick in the shin with a steel capped toe or even the pelvis area keeps people out of attack range. As a carpenter I used to have a sharp pencil behind my ear at all times. If someone was to get out of his pram as we say, it can be used with devastating effect. And in England we are not allowed to carry anything which may be considered a weapon.

    excellent video...when I was young and starting out in martial arts, I practiced close combat techniques like this, they are extremely important. This includes palm strikes to face, eye gouges, and groin strikes. You're not trying to win a tournament, you're trying to save your life. Why are people afraid of dogs? They bite, remember that. I used that shin kick all the time in the dojo in kumite.Most of us who had any sense wore shin protectors. Even being kicked by the other guy with bare feet on shin protectors ,my shins were bruised heavily.
    I used to kick my opponent in the shins and follow up with either a back fist strike ( uraken ).or a straight punch to the face or chest ) obviously i pulled the punch or back fist .
    But not on the street.Its a fast unexpected attack as most guys standing arguing with uou wont expect a hard kick in the shins .i used mostly my outside edge of foot .Great demo .

    Thank you Professor for always thinking outside the box. The scenario's and concepts that you and Shihan Ken bring forth demonstrate your deep rooted knowledge as well as your commitment to your students' self preservation. Like I said before, "ya gotta luv these two". Oh yeah, again, look outside the dojo windows. Night time.. While others' have gone home for the day, these two are putting in the "overtime" to put out useful content. Much respect!

    Excellent! When I was sparring I usually kick low. It is not expected and very hard to defend against. Don't forget to kick the other leg too. Also, you can step into his ankle. Now your opponent is very unsteady.
    Also, remember that all opponents have the same weaknesses: EYES EARS NOSE THROAT
    How about a quick finger jab into the eyes? Blind your opponent. Then clap his ears. Boom
    the fight is over!

    Thanks for a great video and practical advice ! Never watched any of your video's before and I am impressed. (Wish you were closer, because I'd want to learn from you guys). "Do you not see with your own eyes" ? "Are you not seeing what's going on" ? "Do you not believe what you are seeing" / Wow, no one ever speaks of these things. I't always in terms of when an aggressor is already in your face. I believe for many of us it's not wanting to believe we are faced with a confrontation. Why ? Because normal people do not want to bother others and we sure don't want to be threatened. But evil knows those who mind their own business and thinks they are easy prey.

    I agree with understanding the situation & acting in self defense. However, if he is walking towards you aggressively, with intent to harm, and you strike him first with any part of your body, a District Attorney may file against you so now you are defending against a criminal charge.
    And are their witnesses which is another factor. Are they friends of the attacker?
    Consider the legal aspects of you action.

    • @Left-Hookl-Lefty

      So what. Rather get charges pressed by the DA than let someone get off on me first and possibly getting seriously injured.

    • @screwgoogle4993
      @screwgoogle4993 22 дні тому

      You have no idea what you are talking about. Reasonable belief of imminent harm is the standard, and a low kick is non-lethal force. A "Charge" means nothing. A charge WILL come if you're been in a self-defense situation. This legal shit is what makes people hesitate and get killed, as almost happened to me. Shove that crap back up your ass.

    • @Mr.Cockney
      @Mr.Cockney 21 день тому +1

      You are right. In my country, Spain, happens the same. When an attacker goes for you, you get charged with the burden to discern in a fraction of a second whether are you going to be hit or not (impossible task in that moment, but the judge and the jury will have days to demonstrate that you had to be still). Let them do their job, yours is to remain unharmed: avoid the confrontation if you can but hit first if the foe charges you.

But I was able to get him in a hold. We ended up under a stair case. Broke my fifth metacarple because of the hammer fist I used on him.
