- Goal of the review is to show you what's possible. I have three routes to go for Scalar here. One is tried and true, 2nd is thinking outside the box, and the 3rd is I how I feel it should be crafted. I have had SO much fun with it and it's staying. I have the god roll Horror/oversoul and more, but I'm still saving this one. It's unique.

Literally if you don't make this review, I don't know about this. Nobody is trying out combos like this in the crucible. Well, maybe Cammy is lol. Thanks for the good info. Probs can even go into extended mag and tank the reload since you are never going to be reloading this. Maybe something that finally means that ophidians can be put down

wait wait wait so does focus fury works whit transversive steps? omg i never use those but if it works my pure poetry whit focus fury will be even better.
Check out Pulse Monitor FF Peacebond, same thing if u can chain your crit health reloads. That lil burst pistol is absolutely slapping with champions this season too and headstone

If I had a penny for every time Bungie made a non sunset arc rapid fire frame pulse rifle I’d have 4 pennies… why do I have 4 fucking pennies for that?
Meanwhile the one void rapid fire is from over 2 years ago. I genuinely don't understand why this weapon isn't fucking void.

The problem for me with that last combination is that I am a reload junkie. if I fire even a single bullet I'm reloading. Reloading is burned into my DNA at this point. Its why I struggle with use Centrifuse. So as fun as that last combo is, It could never work for me.
This is why cool guy reviews are so good. This was a great in-depth review of a combo people are overlooking and what makes Destiny guns so fun to play with.
Permeability + Golden Tricorn actually solves the major weakness GT has (having to use a matching subclass and weapon element). you can get to x2 on any subclass using your class ability to change the weapons element. this is the combo I’m going with on my crafted, as I don’t ever get to use GT normally because I hate being tied down - limiting a weapon’s potential to only being maximum on a matching subclass is painfullllll.
I do believe this is the first pulse to roll slickdraw and headseeker together, and its very exciting to me. rapids have one massive weakness being their poor handling, but slickdraw just lets you ignore the stat entirely and go all in on range. keep away with max handling hits 52 range and 50 handling, while slickdraw with max range hits 58 range and 100 handling with an animation scaler.
This is the third roll from the comments I want to try.
I always forget how amazing 100 handling weapons are, similar to when I randomly give my titan high mobility to play PvP, I'm going to have to try that with enhanced Slickdraw.
the reload at 9:46 wasn't even because a teammate died, but because you were still at red health. that's really neat to know you can get your reloads out of scenarios like that
If you're going to run this roll to take advantage of that origin trait, you should also go with Acrobat Dodge + Aeon Swift with the mod that gives you class energy whenever an ally dies. You'll have Radiant up with Acrobat constantly, helping you during those times where Focus Fury isn't active (and helping more when it is).
Might not be "objectively" the best. But the model and sight on this thing really make me like it more then the competitors. This is going right on the top shelf for me for rapid fire.
Ditto. I was really hyped for this when I realized this was a Rapid-Fire cold denial model, which IMO is the best pulse model aside from the Vigil for Saint-14 ornament on the Vigilance Wing.
@@martinprovo2389Agreed, the cold denial model was my one of my favorites. I still have my god roll cold denial from way back then. Though in my opinion the gridskipper model is the best model. I just love how it has a sling attachment near the dot sight and it looked like a m4 charging handle.
the fact that this is stronger than vigilance wing aeons (teammate death build). this origin trait is a borderline exotic trait.

I've tried it side-by-side with my Adept Horror's Least, and for some reason, it really hits for me. I don't perform well with Horror's, but Scalar Potential hits really hard for me, even before crafting.

I know this one isn’t as perk juiced as edict but I just can’t get over how small and obstructive the sight is on that one. The Scalar is so clean to ADS with.
Ur one of the few ppl that’s keeping me engaged with guns on destiny. Like I have both oversoul and horror’s least but the slick draw role looks interesting for sure plus the gun looks nicer than oversoul
The sight of oversoul kills it for me I need someone to truly test attrition orbs enhanced though to see if it is even worth it
This gun also has what oversoul doesnt, a good clean sight! Crafted the KA+HS combo and went flawless twice this weekend with it. I also put on the hipfire grip for a pseudo BXR feel and it did wonders
Hip-Fire grip crafted is a sleeper pick, and highly underrated imo.
I used that crafted Stasis Adaptive pulse with HF+Rangefinder, and I swear aside from the range, the enhanced Hip-Fire feels better than the BXR.
I'll have to try that roll out having it on a rapid fire pulse.
I can't wait to craft this though, it feels great with even random PvE rolls.

Plus, I have my personal 5/5 Jurassic Green with Keep Away+Headseeker, and it is really fun.
Now I can get that with enhanced perks? That's something that Horrors Least can't do. There are things Horrors can do that this can't as well, but I love neutral game for primary weapons.
It'll be a bit before I get Oversold Edict, but I really like the look of these seasonal weapons.
this is y i like destiny 2. at face value, i thought this was weapon was lacking but d2 attracts nerds and such. there is a lot more nuance to weapons in this game and it's literally the reason i keep playin despites its rly low lows. ty cool guy always a pleasure
Great video! What makes you so different than other creators is you deconstruct a weapon the way that bungee made it. It’s all in its name and you cracked it. I always appreciate that.
In my opinion, every single issue with Scalar could be fixed if they just adjusted its stats and made it a lightweight instead of a rapid fire. We have 4 rapid fire arc pulses, an aggressive burst arc pulse, two high impacts, two adaptives, but not a single lightweight. Bungie, the reason hardly anyone uses your new guns is because you keep giving us the same energy and archetype over and over. It took 12 seasons for us to get another void auto that wasn't high impact for Traveler's sake.
One of the only destiny 2 content creators i can stand .

This pulse is fun, but it’s definitely overshadowed by horror’s least and oversoul. People are seriously sleeping on the loot from this season though. The new fusion with under over is actually something special
Arrowhead, accurized, keep away, headseeker, range or stability mw is what I’ll go for. Was looking for so long for a decent rapid fire pulse in the energy slot, but I ended up liking none of the available options: gridskipper (reticle bounces a little too much & both major perks kinda suck), darkest before (honestly I love the gun, but was never able to land the roll I wanted), Jurassic green (base stars are just beyond terrible), horrors least (hate the reticle & also don’t like the available perks that much), outlast (honestly like it a lot, but it’s so hard to get the roll u want, also the stats are amongst the lower ones) overspoul edict (can’t stand the scope, way too boxy)
What roll are you after for the Darkest Before?
@@drakan5468 the roll I was hoping to get was surplus/elemental cap with range & recoil boosting perks (arrowhead or any range boosting perk, ricochet/range mw)
I’d also be fine with rampage in the right or tunnel vision/qd/overflow in the left if the other perks would have been what I wanted.

I made a small cameo on that disjunction clip. Had a blast playing against you, wish it wasn’t relic so we could get into more gunfights but overall gg 👍
What it can do that others cant. Have better sights than oversoul edict. Actually able to get god roll unlike horrors least.

It's unfortunate that Bungie plans to lean more and more into Checkmate because there's a number of perks like Overflow that just straight up do not work without special ammo drops to pick up.

It’s okay, I crafted it pretty fast as I enjoy pulse rifles in general. The recoil is really poop on it so counter balance and a recoil perk is a must
I really like this pulse. It’s fun to use. Permeability is great so you can have two shield types for enemies. One for arc and whatever subclass you have. Reminds me of Different Times. Which I love.
1 of the few I've crafted with permeability for Strand synergy & Night falls that require overload and a specific damage type as it can swap. You can increase stats with the Artifact mods & ammo with overflow.
every time I have tried to do the starter quest for this expansion in the last 5 days I get disconnected.
lose all the progress to the check point in the quest step and have to start over.
try to do the quest again and get disconnected again.
go to the city and slum around and I get disconnected.
good stuff.
If you run with Overflow, overflow the mag, shoot enough to get the mag below it's base, and then proc Dragon's Vengeance... Does it refill the mag to base or to the overflow'd mag? Sorry if you covered already

I will 100 percent be going for this weapon. I love the Jurrasic green, but all 4 of the arc rapids that we have, this one has the best scope(For me and how I like my scopes, open and plain red dot).
I had automatically underestimated Focus Fury, since it is usually not the best option for a primary weapon. I didn't even think of the origin trait working to help that perk. I might give it a go, once I get around to crafting it. Looks fun. It will be hard for me to stop myself from frequently reloading, though.

As a slug enjoyer im excited about this origin trait on supercluster. Corkscrew, accurized, threat det, fragile focus and range mw. its 90 base + range from fragile/origin trait. And 76 base handeling +25 from x1 TD + scalar.

Enhanced hip fire grip on a pulse is always a W. Liked the HFG/Headseeker combo on Syncopation, and it feels pretty good here too, especially on a more competitive frame. Great PvP origin trait to boot. Only real complaint I have is the element.
Love the sight on this gun. I wish more models used it orbsomething similar.

Love this pulse. Very snappy indeed! Most pulses slog along.
If you use build 3 I recommend slappin on aeon's for whatever class, with sect of insight, and use coolguy's radiant hunter pvp build for even more chaos
We have so many goddamn arc rapid fires at this point, someone at bungie needs to be told other elements exist.
I wish they'd revert the slickdraw "buff" because I used Slickdraw as a partial aim assist toggle, I want a full toggle but I dont think thats coming because D2 players are really against that for some reason.
I went with keep away/tricorn and slaying with it but may have to try the fury roll instead!!! I'll keep you posted!

It’s a cool idea. I don’t like the idea that it depends on teammates dying and refraining from reloading it switching weapons. But if the buff were big enough I could over that

Got an Adept Crota pulse with 4 outa 5! Keep Away and Headseeker. With Adept range it maps and on PS5 it's pretty stable. The missing 5th is handling, tried Adept handling and settled on range.
keep away on scalar potential feels similar to slideshot on darkest before, though slideshot is a slightly bigger bonus. overall i find db easier to slay out with, but scalar definitely does have some juice to it.
I can see this being fun in gambit

Leave it to coolguy to make optimistic, informative, and entertaining videos even when other content creators are calling the same weapon dog water. Even if its something as nieche as a new origin trait interaction coolguy always finds a way to make a weapon effective and fun

Dragons vengeance is a solid perk.
Couldn't get a Jurassic Green with Tricorn so I'm happy it's an option on this weapon. There are a lot of arc rapid fires but I guess it can pass.

Thanks for the video! I really don't like the new change on shooting patterns (recoil direction). The info available on each weapon does not seem to match the results we experience w/ several weapons. Example: IKELOS SMG shows perfect vertical pattern but when used it is very irregular. We need at least to have consistent info so we can learn and adapt.

It’s not bad. But in PvE it’s not the best. I do actually like the permeability and golden tricorn roll, but I’ve also been using permeability and attrition orbs. It’s an orb making machine and it works well on all sub classes.
I like everything about this gun but it bounces crazy on m&k.
Keep away is a fantastic perk, but I think you're sleeping on enlightened action for this and oversoul edict
I thought about Permeability/Tricorn paired with a Chill Clip fusion on Mask of Bakris Revenant, using Grim Harvest and Winter's Shroud. Does that sound fairly decent to anyone else? I like the idea of a damage bonus being pretty much always up on either end of the Bakris shift and Scalar kills.

Could it not have been like, Void? What's the last Void Rapid Fire Pulse, Gridskipper from 9 Seasons ago? Lol
Overflow + focused fury is also a combo you can do on piece of mind. So it´s not really unique. The unique thing is the slickdraw + headseeker that only a sidearm can do and the reprised adaptive pulse from season of the undying.
Also, i want to strongly point out that gutshot streight in 1 collum and headseeker on the other is still ONLY availible on the jorums claw iron banner adaptive pulse and i have after resetting like 5-6 times last season still not gotten 1 but i REALLY want to try out this combo.
Add the origin trait you forgetting thats whats making the gun and that combo unique
You don´t need the origin trait when you have 70+ shots and the trait doesn´t trigger the ammo refill and as he said himself, the small stat bonus doesn´t do tooooo much besides the ammo refil.
If deconstruct worked on bubble and well sword I'd never take it off.
I guess I would need Slickdraw, because I don't know how people play with such low handling.
