Characters worth taking to 90: NECESSARY Hydro or hydro infused characters in Nilou bloom Electro characters in aggravate or spread or hyperbloom Dendro characters in spread Anemo characters that swirl Pyro characters that burgeon MORE BENEFICIAL THAN MOST HP or defence scaling characters like Yelan, itto Characters you simp for or are min maxing after you’re done talents artifacts etc Hupercarries that a large portion of team damage comes from like xiao, wanderer, ayaka, raiden in hyper teams,
For new players, I can say they will immediately ask: What does 'hydro infused characters in Nilou bloom' mean, what is 'aggravate or spread or hyperbloom', what is 'spread', what is 'swirl' what is 'burgeon'.... in essence, all this jargon that is known to veteran players is like reading greek for none greek players.
@@justadad6677 The game literally tells you all this in the tutorials though. And before that you just need to level blindly and not use the wrong main stats on artifacts.
Definitely encourage playing whoever you like during the "Experimental" phase. All characters are good enough to do something in endgame, even if some of their options are a little limited or there is someone else who can do it better. Back when I was in the "experimental" phase, my main team was Amber, Xingqiu, Beidou, Qiqi. It was around this time that I learned Amber burst -> Sac Sword Xingqiu skills let all 4 hits vape. Then, I'd go Xingqiu burst and Beidou burst and have Qiqi drive their bursts together while I waited for cooldowns. Amber had the free Fav and Xingqiu had Sac, so energy wasn't that bad. This remained my main team for a while, and by the end I had Amber on Noblesse, Qiqi on Clam, and both Xingqiu and Beidou on EoSF. This was before I really followed anything meta, and the team had a competent rotation. I remember there was a somewhat difficult event that people were surprised I was able to get all the rewards for using this team. The event I think was sometime around December 2021 called Energy Amplifier Fruition and you wanted to reach a 6000 score for all rewards? This was like right after I had hit AR 45 when it was fine to start chasing Artifacts and when Qiqi and Hu Tao were my only 5stars. I was transitioning to a Hu Tao main at the time, but the event had a bunch of Spectres that I couldn't reach with Hu Tao, so I brought back the old team for this event. Clam Qiqi demolished those Specters (and this was pre-nerf Specters when they were bulkier, got recoiled up in the air out of melee range when attacked, and got into Fury more easily). All 4 of those characters from the Experimental phase team are built on my endgame roster, and they have all seen Spiral Floor 12 action. They are part of my "Hall of Fame" team, and they get special treatment now that I'm in the "Character Favorites" phase.
@@ErozCarrillo Early on I think it's fine to do just enough exploring for quests and enemy hunting for drops, but I think map exploration should wait until the Phase 3 Min-Maxing phase. And by map exploration, I mean going for 100% exploration everywhere for the Primos in those chests. In early game, you will get Primos more quickly from finishing quests and going through the story first, and that's what I would recommend focusing on pre-AR 45. You will also need to start farming for a lot of drops during this phase for talents/ascension, and you'll also get more value for these drops at higher ARs, so I think it's best to do the bulk of the exploration later. Also, you'll have access to more gadgets (treasure compass + oculus resonance stones) to make exploration more efficient.
Some things to keep in mind. Keep all of your elemental goblets and only recycle them if you have multiple better options for that element. Same things goes for Crit DMG / Crit Rate circlets. Even if offset, those are good to hang on to and are usually the pieces you'll use for off-set pieces. For Hyper Carry Damage Dealers in general, biggest thing is to make sure when starting out is that their Crit Rate is around 50% and Crit Damage is over 125%. That's pretty easy to do without going crazy with artifact farming. Obviously preference is to get them higher, but no need to go crazy until you're ready to optimize. The 200 Crit value is good, but high Crit Damage without Crit Rate doesn't lead to consistent damage. As far as leveling characters to 90, keep in mind what their ascension stat is. Healers and Supports like Nahida are priority for level 90 due to what they scale with and how useful they. Damage dealers, even ones that don't scale off attack, don't gain a ton of damage from 80 - 90. Finally, regardless of what you have, if you're Free to Play make sure you've done the following: Get the Catch, level it, and put it on Xiangling. Run her with Emblem. She's the best free character that everyone gets and it blows my mind when people don't build her. I still use her in Abyss till this day despite having a ton of 5 Stars fully built. She's broken.
Dmg dealers like cyno, Alhaitham, and Tighnari get around 30% more dmg from going to 90 because spread and aggravate get a boost in dmg off lvls. And the same can be said for bloom, hyperbloom and burgeon characters.
Elemental Goblets and Crit circlets, always keep those, like you said, even the 4 stars because they might be what you need to complete a set. Similarly, flowers and feathers are the pieces that you can be stricter on since you'll get way more of those! Try to keep the best of those, but you can get rid of the worst ones a lot sooner. Also, 2p sets can be wonderful. You loose a bit of power compared to ful 4 piece sets, but they work in general, and usually let you get much nicer sets, and can be moved to other units later if you ever decide to go for the full set. Example being doing a 2p crimson witch and 2p Gladiator until you get a full crimson witch set later
So from that I gather.. when I pull a bunch of new characters to consider adding to my fully-built teams; good targets to reach before experimenting with playing them are Level 90 weapon, next Character Level 80, Level 8 talents, then start looking for artifacts by farming or borrowing from my other characters.
You can experiment with them in the overworld before then :) but yeah that’s the point you want to reach (assuming they’re not the exception characters like Nilou kuki etc) before you should expect them to perform at a reasonable level.
I know you're not the biggest content creator yet, but i thought i d give u some encouragement here. I really like your content, your takes are humble and helpful, very good vybes too. I hope u'll keep going. I'm an a.r.59 player but i still enjoy your guides and tips.
@@JelloImpact honestly i look forward to the pyro buffing character the most. Pyro needed an update and I'm sure it's going to be a fun time for yoimiya, hu tao and diluc mains. The few yanfei lovers are also going to appreciate! I'm glad u're still hype over this game, i feel like many have lost the spark when u stay committed
This wouldve been invaluable when I first started. One thing i want to mention is that i didnt hear any caveats on the 1:2 crit ratio advice. You dont need to do that for all or even most characters. there are many characters who basically dont care about crit ratio at all, and you dont need to shoot for 50/100 on them. A lot of characters like Bennett, Kazuha, and other buffers/supports care a lot more about other stats. Its a case by case basis and you should consider what their kit does before grinding a 90/300 crit ratio on your Gorou.
Also Blizzard Strayer user don't really need high Crit Rate, since they'll going to get, by default, 40% from Freeze comp, and another 15% from Cryo duo team.
Artifact rng has been the biggest hurdle for some of my characters, recently i got some really great Artifacts for my raiden shogun while farming Artifacts for my klee. My second biggest hurdle is Mora theres never enough 😢
true i just barely have enough artifacts to build 2 teams for abyss, I'm always out of mora and books cause I don't use leylines and never realize I'm out of character exp until I need to lvl someone
I’m currently doing a massive overhaul of my account, I’m ar 56 and stopped playing for two years because of reasons, the last event I played was when dragonspine was just introduced! It was a little bit overwhelming seeing all of the new sets, weapons and metas (Dendro was a nightmare to understand) so even though I’m technically a “veteran” player, this video was really helpful! Right now my order is Kokomi>Kaeya>Kaveh (all faves honestly), Your videos are super helpful!
i feel like one point you forgot which is pretty essential is learning how to play your character. Im helping a friend with their account and because they dont funnel their bennet particles into xiangling and not spamming elemental reactions while xianglings pyronado is up by using a keaya for example they have a though time defeating some enemies. they also feel like their artifacts are trash even though they are pretty useful for an ar 48 account. they also keep lowering their world level because of it which is a little sad since they are more then capable of clearing content with their characters. im now trying to teach them the games combat mechanics and i think its really important for people to at least learn the basics when it comes to how energy particles work and how reactions play an important role in combat. id say its an important part of character building too since you want to use those stats you have been thriving for to their fullest potential and could also be a difference between feeling like your xiangling needs 250 er or getting away with 190ish by particle funneling for example
@@JelloImpact ahh yes, i was just imagining in my head how their account would improve after watching this video. and i feel like their characters would indeed become a lot stronger but id question if they would also know how to properly use those now well build characters. Guess we will find that out in the teambuilding guide ;) great video though!
If they are playing on the touchscreen of a potato smartphone, they are definitely struggling with higher WL not for the reason their way of playing is bad
Great video even a year later. Thanks a lot, I was really stressed out about character building as other videos I watched all had me afraid to build up characters and made the game more difficult then needed to be as I was basically doing nothing waiting for “optimal” characters to drop. I am now progressing so much farther into the game that I am building up more characters and having so much more fun trying them out. Thanks again, I’ll be saving this video to come back to as I go through the game. 😊
This is a good guide. I will say that 200 CV from artifacts seems like an insanely high standard to me - I've been playing for close to 2 years and I think I have over 200 on like, four or maybe five characters total, and most of those were recent. It makes sense to go that high for characters you're really hyper investing in but it to some extent is a question of how much you want to spread around resources. Or maybe I'm just unlucky with artifacts haha, it could be that too
Great video, super valuable for new players. I really like your point about crowning vs artifact farming, which is something I’ve been toiling with lately. My ayaka is essentially built (36/222 crit, 2.15k atk, 115 ER w/ R5 amenoma) but I’m holding off on crowning her burst because I’m still building a few other characters. It’s very tempting to just pull the trigger and crown it for the guaranteed damage upgrade.
Yeah I guess the reality is you’re going to crown it eventually and since ayaka scales like a hypercarry off raw stats, it’s more worth to crown her than most. So it’s not a waste to do it now. It’s just up to you when. It’s a high value crown
I wish I had found a guide like this back at pre AR 40 or so. Definitely spent way too much resin farming artifacts and not enough on leveling up supports and skills. Only recently did it become clear that getting your chars and their talents to a decent lvl is alot more efficient, and that artifact min/maxing is the endgame.
one thing to consider is the combat mechanic. my first 5* is hutao, so i had to learn that animation cancel thingy on low AR. and then my next dps is xiao, again, another hard to play unit. he looks simple but actually complex, like the positioning of his plunge, the single target atk combos. and then i got ayaka. AGAIN, another mechanic, positioning. Next was yae, AGAAAIN LMAO, and the last one was childe. throughout my sweaty dmg dealers impact, i found a way to get through many challenges in spiral abyss, even the cringe and annoying ones. For example, now i can get the 36* on this abyss by using ayaka freeze fighting those sumeru beasts. AND i also no longer depending on a shielder like zhongli, diona because i learn the enemies atk pattern ALOT by retrying. I remember the first team i use to fullstar the abyss back then was ayaka mona kazuha diona & xiao benny zhongli sucrose. i need to retry 138x times because defeating PMA with ayaka is alot of work, timing, and mechanic for me back then. And now it pays off, even when i play a considered hard-mechanic-character like alhaitham, i find it really simple and ez to use. TLDR: grinding is good, but you dont rly need to minmax anything (except for simping) if you have a higher mechanic and knowledge of this game 👍
Amazing guide. I really like that you stress the importance of ER in phase 1&2! Back when I was a new player, I had no idea why my 120% ER Xingqiu wasn't living up to the expectations of a top-tier character. Genshin feels like a completely different game when you are using level 0-8 artifacts. I didn't even realize bursts HAD cooldowns until much later. The one thing I would add is that most characters should level up their best talent(s) before ascending to 70/80. Levelling the main talent up to 6 is both somewhat cheaper and usually a bigger dps increase than the ascension stats and 10 levels (except for characters that use transformative reactions). I remember ascending my first characters to 70/80 too quickly and didn't feel the power spike until catching up on my talents.
I never leveled up my characters' talents until AR 53 and wondered why is my 78/256 keqing only does 1.5k per slash in her burst. It took me more than a goddamn year to realize the importance of talents. She's now crowned and her burst does 6-7k per slash and 50-60k final slash without aggravate 😔😔
@@abbyy6361 Thank god I'm not the only one who did this lol, I felt like such a tool when I realised you could level talents all the way to 10 and how much of a difference it made. It was raiden that made me realise this, when I reached fighting her in the story only to realise none of my characters could even scratch her 😅
I usually add new units to my friendship team, regardless of synergy to complete dailies and get experience with the new units. At this point I only have new units that need friendship, so I usually put characters that synergize with them if I don't have too many new friendship characters. I work on fully ascending every character so I can play them or fully build them later. I get talents to 6 if they're not meta and 8 or higher if they are meta. As a mostly f2p player, you'll be long-term investing in your account by ascending every character and get guaranteed progress on a character. I think my resin is best spent getting all the main talents and ascension because in the long term, artifacts can be done at any time. Then I equip them with extra artifacts until I am done using resin on bosses and leveling materials for the character. Takes me about two weeks for each character. Then I farm artifacts. I never focus on building a single weapon for the new character since I usually share weapons and focus on a weapon of my choice. At this point, I level 5 star weapons to 90 first, then favonious on every weapon type (sometimes 2 favonious copies per weapon type if I already have R5 for 1), then extraneous weapons that are currently best in slot for some characters based on current weapon roster.
I just hit AR 60 two weeks ago and I'm at the point now where I'm almost done raising up all the characters I'm interesting in building. Twice now I've spent two months purely farming mora and exp books so I can level several characters at once to 90/90 min 8/8/8 talents and lvl 90 weapon. It's mundane at first but it's satisfying once I've leveled up most of my characters. Now I can spend pretty much all my resin for artifacts until I pull a new character.
I have no idea what I’m doing here as a whale who has been playing this game since release, but the guide overall is very informative and highlights lots of unobvious nuances, which people don’t tend to speak about a lot. Great job.
Also a little bit about weapon levelling: generally speaking lvl 90 weapon should always be a first thing to do, since it’s is very cheap comparing to other late game upgrades. For yelan having this basically free er can also be crucial, so it is still better to lvl 90 her weapon as soon as possible
What I did when I started the game, is stop at AR 25 before the first Adventure Rank Ascension quest, and set myself on a quest to get all the characters I wanted and try plying them all to see which I enjoy the most. Back then, there were no AR-locked areas in the game, and all limited events were also available without any AR restriction. As a result of that, I now have my dream account with very little effort, but most importantly, I haven't fed up with the game yet, and not even close. True, staying at low AR is not time/resin efficient, but that is exactly what I wanted to do: to slow down and cherish my precious moments in the game. Seeing as your characters gradually become stronger, learning their abilities to the last comma, and combine them ideally for maximum effect; playing them elegantly without getting hit once, not even stepping into the burning grass or electrified water; acting in character, switching tactics, thinking ahead - that is what I call joy in this game. As for the tutorials, yes I appreciate them, but most of this I have already learnt way back, when there were no tutorials. And it was double fun to do it myself. Some youtubers back then would deem Sucrose a B-tier character, along with Bennett and Xiang Ling. Everybody was going crazy about ATK and CRIT stats, and nobody gave damn about the EM stat. Ah, good old days, when people were like "how your characters are so stronggg???" seeing my pitiful attack and crit, but completely missing on over-the-roof elemental mastery they didn't even know existed.
I think that you should crown the offensive talents of characters that you use a lot like xingiu's burst and maybe even skill, benett's burst etc, but you should not crown things like a zhongli skill or other defensive talents who don't do anything to the team dps, cuz you won't need them and it's just a waste.
I started playing the game on day 1 launch and it was not until Yae Miko that I leveled my first character to 90. I decided to do so as she had too little HP and I was worried about getting one shot too often in abyss so instead of swapping damage for HP on her artifacts I decided to level her to 90 to get that HP. Since then the flood gates have opened and to date I am at 32 characters at lv90 lol. I do agree that especially early game lv90 can be too much for most characters (with a couple of exceptions). I have been talking about vertical and horizontal growth for a long time. Getting a new character is an example of horizontal growth where you are gaining team options and counters to mechanics but not actually gaining more power. Getting character weapons or for cons is vertical growth where you are not getting new combinations or counters but what you already have gets stronger. Both are necessary for a strong account. Also for wishing I do not advocate for people to whale. As a F2P or a goldfish (BP-welkins) you will not get every character ingame. How I deal with this is I came up with a method to skip more banners. The more banners you skip the better your chances are on getting what you do want. My method is that I will wish for characters I like the most and wish for their best supports. I will skip everything else. For as long as I have been playing I do have a diverse base of characters to basically counter whatever floor 12 abyss changes throws at me and I can increase my power just to make abyss even easier. For floors 9 through 11 I stopped bringing full teams as there is no point in it for me anymore. The current floor 12 is a pain but aside from the 3.7 abyss version I have been able to clear 9 stars on floor 12 with only 3 characters per side. The more you play the more power your account will get. I have been playing since sept 2020 and my acc has gained SOO much power from patch 3.0 till now and even Inazuma was another huge jump for my account. I used to struggle at one time even doing floors 9 or 10 in abyss and just because you may be stuck in that struggle now does not mean you will stay there forever and can get better without pulling out your credit card. I have faith in you that you can keep advancing in this game!
I feel like you should have mentioned that at the simping phase improving your combat skills will be a more efficient way to improve on your dps because at this phase it can take weeks to even get a chance at improving your artifacts and even if you do improve them it'll be a tiny increase like about 1%. But learning enemy attack patterns and perfecting your rotations can shave off precious seconds off of your clear times and that can be the difference between 36 starring the abyss or not. I feel like this is more relevant today considering how much more difficult the abyss has gotten lately.
Definitely great points. For rotations and funneling etch, I will be covering that in team building guide And for enemy attack patterns, I will be covering in a spiral abyss guide. And also cover rotations again in that guide :)
This is so true. All my built characters have between 170 - 200 CV on artifacts and it's more than enough damage. My struggle with abyss was a skill issue, so training and learning enemy patterns became much more valuable for me.
There are tons of characters you can’t even level until you get past AR 35 and get through this storyline of Inazuma….. God help you if you start the game with Shinha.
for featured 5*/4* you can build them before Inazuma by doing their trial, which gives enough resources for A1/40, which is plenty for getting you to Inazuma as a newbie. (At AR35 enemies are around or only slightly higher level than you at a 40 cap. And while you could technically be max 70 at that point, there's no point going all in on character building until you're sure you've got your team you want. It's a bit safer to build your weapons up instead at that point, since you can always move those around to another character who can benefit from it or if you've settled on someone you really want to use, going ahead and pushing them to A4 is fine (especially true for Fischl, whose true power doesn't manifest till A4). And most non-5* Inazuma material characters are supports, so rolling them randomly off standard doesn't really hurt anything. The only real victim would be pulling Heizou off standard and really enjoying his character and gameplay, since he's the most affected by being capped at level 20, since he's an anemo catalyst main-dps, his A1 passive is really important for letting him use his skill effectively, and while getting EM to boost his swirls is do-able, a lot of his swirls are purely level based which can't be worked around (though you can slap a filler VV on him (better stats a plus but not required), and let him act as a support for the rest of the party till he can take his right place as a main-dps).
@@ZanathKariashi lol, I play six different profiles man, my main profile that is not F2P and has literally everything in the game completed, your paragraph and a half reply, just wasted time.
Kinda random tip, TRY ARCHAIC PETRA ZHONGLI!!! It only works well in mono teams but when it does, it’s so good. 35% dmg bonus and the 20% res shred from his shield. I’m planning to use him in a mono pyro team with lyney
I id like to add an other tier (mostly useless and not good for resource management) I like to call it the: “i am an indecisive maniac and i want to have options but i will rarely use these options because other character are just build better” Is those couple of character you like. They are 80/90 or 90/90. Talent levels between 5 and 8. Broken artifacts or 2 piece 2 piece that need to be stolen from your most build characters. Sometimes you use them for the over world to switch things up. Sometimes you use them for floor 9 and 10 in the abyss. But most of the time they just cheer on your main teams from the bench.
I really appreciate that~~~ There’s a little bit of a weird glitch where UA-cam says I posted it last 16 hours ago but really I posted it 17 minutes ago xD It’s likely because I accidentally published it for a second before I meant to last night and then scheduled it but it’s counting it as if it’s been up the whole time lol xD Shouldn’t matter in the long run.
My account is mostly inbetween the 2nd and 3rd stages, i still need a few more strong units for my account to be comfy. The exception being that i just spent the last month getting all the resources to level 90 triple crown scaramouche purely because he is my favourite character. The only issue is i dont have guaranteed, so i am praying to the archons he comes home and i win the 50/50.
Thank you for the guide!!! 🤩✨🌟💫🌸🎉 I highly appreciate that you talked about ER since I've found almost no guide that does so which made several of my first characters to not be well built when I started to understand a bit more of the game. I'm at ar35 with tons of accumulated exp trying to build a bit more my characters and farming ascension bosses for characters like Kuki since her boss doesn't give the right elemental jades for her ascension before probably jumping directly to ar45 XD (I have over 315 thousand exp accumulated >.>).
Currently in the "built enough" phase, with some mild character simping on the side. At the moment, i cannot 36 star abyss yet, but my characters are getting close. In terms of the mild character simping, ive crowned Alhaitham's skill, gotten his signature weapon, leveled both to 90, he has like 65/188 crit and 360 em, going for like 60/200 and closer to 400 em, otherwise i still have to work on Raiden, Hu Tao, and potentially Ayaka when i can 36 star abyss
I believe 65/188 is actually slightly better than 60/200. As long as you have enough ER on him those crit and EM values are already pretty good! Could be more valuable for abyss progression to start working on other characters?
@@villageflorist yeah I'm working on Raiden National for now, which is why I say temporarily paused working Alhaitham. Also he has 5 er lol. The main reason I want ~400 em is because it's a little under 40 more em and 3 of my artifacts don't even have em on them
good advice. only the 2:1 ratio again is overrated. the 2:1 ratio (or rather, the concept of crit value) is a useful tool for quick-evaluating single artifacts, for the reasons stated in the video. However, when it comes to character builds, we would maximise the damage, which is proportional to the product CR * CD. Ratio is not a target. Also, there might be additional considerations like Fav weapons etc.
Remember... if you're not a whale ( and don't one shot things in one rotation, the best thing you can give your character is not more Crit, DMG bonus or ATK but more ER to burst on cooldown!!!
I wish I had it when I started playing the game xD . Oh well you can always better yourself while waiting for arlechino to be playable . Aside from that, Thai it's what I'm doing now on star rail
If I can be a new player again, AR55 - 36 star Abbys. I would just beeline for World Level 8 by focusing on one DPS and one Healer. Ideally, the DPS is the elemental opposite of the Healer so you can swap roles when facing an element-immune opponents. Or, just pick Traveler. At world 8, exp books from leylines will be great to easily level your other characters. I will never farm leylines for gold. Events is where I farm my gold. Then, my priority will be: Level 60 ascension Talents > lvl 90 (Favonious or Sac) Weapons > +20 Feather (DPS) or +20 Healing Bonus Circlet (Healer) > Max talent level until you can't > Then, ascend your level again so you can level your talents again. Once I can roll-stomp any World 8 over-world bosses and 90 Domains, then anything goes after that. If I want to beeline for Abbys or just beeline for character pulls I like. For beelining Abbys, focus on defeating all floors first before 36 star. So, you get all rewards. You can do that easily by just having a good healer and 3 built sub dps per team. Beido, XQ and Dehya have good damage mitigation if you have one early.
well artifacts depends ever a char u get if it lvup rate 24% or dmg 38% or elemental dmg 28% or EM or ER etc etc. when lvup rate u should focus 1:3 getting 70 rate base 210 damage more posible, and when u dont get rate or damage to focus just get 70 rate 170 damage , and u done artifacts
You talking specifically about Yelan is funny- my friend has excellent crit ratio on her C1 Yelan (with signature weapon) but insists that her 100% ER is enough. I thought she would need about 130-140% at C1 even whilst paired with another hydro but I'm not sure as I don't have her con.
Question about character scaling I’m starting to understand it a lil bit but my brain has gone mushy so if a character doesn’t have anything in the talent description like hp em def or anything do I just assume I just build them for attack or elemental dmg for those characters Now I did hear you say most characters scale off attack assuming your probably like this guy is stupid 😭 it’s all so refreshing and new so I’m trying to map it in my brain
I need to yell "give me more ER" into domains before I get in for farming 'cuz I defo feel sabotaged by RNG 🤣everyone was complaining about getting new EM pieces when dendro meta became a thing, while me sitting on my pile of EM and never bursting pffhhh
@@JelloImpact i know since i watched all your recent videos (past couple weeks) in 2 days 🙂 cant wait to see you grow as a creator especially since alot of creators switch to honkai
The sweet spot to stop and get/build/try your characters is around AR 35, not AR 45. It is waaaaay cheaper to build level 60 character than level 80. So if you don't really set on one specific character, and just want to try playing different characters, slow down before AR 35 and stay there until you have tried them. I know so many people at AR 40+ who constantly ask for help and eventually get tired of farming resources, up to the point they ditch the game. Don't be one of them.
Good video, wondering if you think you should wait till guaranteed 5 star artifact to farm domains. Personally, I say yes, because you should spend resin on talent, ascension and mora until that point, but always nice to know what others think
I'm of the opinion that crit ratio is not a thing, but more "crit ratehold" (get it, threshold, crit ratio....? lol) Main DPS characters should have at least 60% crit rate. Any additional crit after 60 is just a bonus. To guarantee that they'll get more crits, a 75~80% crit ratehold is a must (because of how crit works in this game, just tipping the scales a bit to having more crit rate is enough instead of trying to go for 80%+ crit rate) After you get to that crit rate, just try to get as much crit damage as you can and as many other substat that your DPS needs if they're dependent on crits. Oh and, whoever said that 50/200 crit stats are desirable, I wish you stub your pinky toe 69% of the time, all the time
Well I wish you the best getting him!!! But his synergy with ganyu is limited since you need to normal attack to refresh and increase his shield strength but ganyu doesn’t want to normal attack
Nice guide. I would like to add that before adv rank 45 and before having some appropriate weapons like favonius or sacraficial and/or appropiate artefefacts some of the meta units like Benet/Xinquie/ Xiangling are actualy not very good for a few reasons = dmg requirements are low = you cant get enough ER to make them work they are not useless ofc but pre 45 I probably would recomend Qiqi/Barbara + shielder + 2 of your fav units. Also dont play hyperbloom too early. You are ruining most of the combar fun cos everything dies too fast and tehre is no skill rquired
The guide is pretty okay. Phase 1 was good and agreeable. Super experimental getting a feel for characters. Phase 2.. not so much ar 45 should have level 70 not 80. With weapons at least 70/80. Cause yeah you’re at mid game but some people are still figuring out what team comps they really like. I’m ar 57 rn and my lvl 70’s are nuking in world 7. Phase 3 the mid/maxing is when you want the level 80 and 90 characters because not everyone needs to be 90’d to be viable. And everything else you mentioned. Good video that’s just my 2 cents
12:00 sorry but you're calculating CV wrong. CV of a character is CR×CD, that directly corresponds to damage increase you're getting from your crits. CD+2×CR is CV of an artifact and that corresponds to how good crit rolls you got. In my experience, exchanging an artifact for another with better artifact CV helps with character CV too, unless you hit a ceiling such as 100% CR. But calculating CD+2×CR on character stats or aiming for 1:2 CR to CD ratio on a character is plain wrong.
Won’t getting a 1:2 crit ratio on a character max out the math of calculating CRxCD? Also if you’re looking at the total artifact CV, if you just multiply them that’s a bit disengenuis no because you’re not factoring in the weapon or ascension stat. I was just trying to isolate artifact crit value, and multiplying the two is not going to give accurate info until you also include weapon ascension stat etc
@@JelloImpact Multiplying CR×CD on an artifact makes absolutely no sense. That's why I distinguish character CV (CR×CD) and artifact CV (CD+2×CR). On character, it's measure of your crit-related damage. On artifact, it's measure of your artifact rolling luck and only indirectly how much it will contribute. As I wrote before, swapping artifact for one with better artifact CV usually leads to better character CV, and that regardless whether it moves your character CR:CD ratio towards or away from 1:2. That's why I claim that CR:CD ratio on character stats is irrelevant.
This is math talk, i am no expert. If a character has no crit ascension stat and or weapon i aim for 45-50 CR and 80-100 CD. If they do i aim for 65-75 CR and 140+ CD. Not perfectly balanced but achievable enough to make it work 😂
@@JelloImpact I'm not sure what's causing the confusion, but I use the character "×" to denote multiplication. Just to be safe, I'll be using "*" instead. So, character CV=CR*CD, artifact CV=2*CR+CD. In your example, 60*120=7200 and 10*250=2500 so 60-120 is obviously way better in the correct metric too. We're not at odds about that.
Characters worth taking to 90:
NECESSARY
Hydro or hydro infused characters in Nilou bloom
Electro characters in aggravate or spread or hyperbloom
Dendro characters in spread
Anemo characters that swirl
Pyro characters that burgeon
MORE BENEFICIAL THAN MOST
HP or defence scaling characters like Yelan, itto
Characters you simp for or are min maxing after you’re done talents artifacts etc
Hupercarries that a large portion of team damage comes from like xiao, wanderer, ayaka, raiden in hyper teams,
I haven't watched the video yet but basically the proccer of transformative reaction (i.e hyperbloom being electro on bloom)
@@nughm9345 correct. And I did say that in the video but it’s for the new beans
Hupercarry. Lol
Experimental phase: the phase where you thought Xinqiu is a girl.
LMAOOOOOO
most underrated comment 😭
Now he has a buddy: the not-Albedo diver guy from Fontaine. Their battle will be legendary.
I thought Venti was a girl at first
💀💀
so true.
That’s awesome 🤩
In regards to that matter how much map exploration is needed to do the experimental phase?
Finally, regardless of what you have, if you're Free to Play make sure you've done the following:
Get the Catch, level it, and put it on Xiangling. Run her with Emblem. She's the best free character that everyone gets and it blows my mind when people don't build her. I still use her in Abyss till this day despite having a ton of 5 Stars fully built. She's broken.
great tips!
xiangling impact
Dmg dealers like cyno, Alhaitham, and Tighnari get around 30% more dmg from going to 90 because spread and aggravate get a boost in dmg off lvls. And the same can be said for bloom, hyperbloom and burgeon characters.
@@wishes2052 This is 100% true, I forgot about that. I leveled my Alhaitham to 90 on release so never got experience his level 80 haha.

Who are you looking forward to in Fontaine?
@@JelloImpact honestly i look forward to the pyro buffing character the most. Pyro needed an update and I'm sure it's going to be a fun time for yoimiya, hu tao and diluc mains. The few yanfei lovers are also going to appreciate! I'm glad u're still hype over this game, i feel like many have lost the spark when u stay committed
I promise to never stream Genshin consistently so I don’t get burned out from playing too much lol
Thank you~~
And great point Very true. I talk about it more in my artifact guide but definitely should be talked about here too!!
So true
true i just barely have enough artifacts to build 2 teams for abyss, I'm always out of mora and books cause I don't use leylines and never realize I'm out of character exp until I need to lvl someone

Right now my order is Kokomi>Kaeya>Kaveh (all faves honestly), Your videos are super helpful!
welcome back and have fuN!!! it's gonna be awesome
i feel like one point you forgot which is pretty essential is learning how to play your character.
It’s very true although I was planning on having that in my team building guide :)
@@JelloImpact ahh yes, i was just imagining in my head how their account would improve after watching this video. and i feel like their characters would indeed become a lot stronger but id question if they would also know how to properly use those now well build characters. Guess we will find that out in the teambuilding guide ;) great video though!
Thanks so much! And it really is an amazing suggestion and I totally agree~~~

Or maybe I'm just unlucky with artifacts haha, it could be that too
This is literally the most clear and accurately optimised guide. This guy is a Legend
Commenting because you deserve visibility!

I'm watching this to hear this guy tell me to do the exact same things I've been doing for the past 3 years of this game
😭
Thank you~~~
I never leveled up my characters' talents until AR 53 and wondered why is my 78/256 keqing only does 1.5k per slash in her burst.
It was raiden that made me realise this, when I reached fighting her in the story only to realise none of my characters could even scratch her 😅
Honestly the best guide
At this point, I level 5 star weapons to 90 first, then favonious on every weapon type (sometimes 2 favonious copies per weapon type if I already have R5 for 1), then extraneous weapons that are currently best in slot for some characters based on current weapon roster.
this is really good for new players, I would have loved to come across such a guide when I first started
Browses through my triple crowned Ei, double crowned Keqimg, Kokomi, Yoimiya & Ayato. Wonders where it all went wrong 😂
Lol
I love the analogies they make so much sense thanks jello 😋
thank you~~~
I ain't simping for Raiden, not at all. Just triple crown, c3, and engulfing lightning
Slowly becoming my only go to Genshin UA-camr, love the content advice and vibes
Great guide, fan of the channel, keep going 🙌🏽
thank you!!
Good call
For rotations and funneling etch, I will be covering that in team building guide
And for enemy attack patterns, I will be covering in a spiral abyss guide. And also cover rotations again in that guide :)
@@JelloImpact looking forward to those videos!
Or Yae Miko lmao
for featured 5*/4* you can build them before Inazuma by doing their trial, which gives enough resources for A1/40, which is plenty for getting you to Inazuma as a newbie.

I id like to add an other tier (mostly useless and not good for resource management)
I like to call it the: “i am an indecisive maniac and i want to have options but i will rarely use these options because other character are just build better”
Is those couple of character you like.

I really appreciate that~~~
There’s a little bit of a weird glitch where UA-cam says I posted it last 16 hours ago but really I posted it 17 minutes ago xD
It’s likely because I accidentally published it for a second before I meant to last night and then scheduled it but it’s counting it as if it’s been up the whole time lol xD
Shouldn’t matter in the long run.
My first triple crowned and level 90 charater was Yoimiya, I love her so much :)
Good advice! Thanks for the video!
Every other month I accidentally create an overpowered monster that I'm always proud of :)
I am currently playing Tower of Fantasy and saw this pop and this looks like the type of game I would play
wow I wish i would have watched this video when i first started the game. Excellent, thank you!
never stop farming artifacts cause it's never enough
The main reason I want ~400 em is because it's a little under 40 more em and 3 of my artifacts don't even have em on them
My simping character is Noelle & Ayaka, both of them C6, talent skill max and mix/max artifacts
yep noelle is my main according to 2 year in review events. Put alot of work into Ninguang
good advice. only the 2:1 ratio again is overrated. the 2:1 ratio (or rather, the concept of crit value) is a useful tool for quick-evaluating single artifacts, for the reasons stated in the video.
Triple crowned nilou with key of khsj nisut 😍😋❤️🙏
Then, my priority will be:
Level 60 ascension Talents > lvl 90 (Favonious or Sac) Weapons > +20 Feather (DPS) or +20 Healing Bonus Circlet (Healer) > Max talent level until you can't > Then, ascend your level again so you can level your talents again.
Can you make a list of all characters that make transformative reactions?
Would be really helpful.
Good idea.
Any electro for quicken or hyperbloom
Any pyro for burgeon
Any dendro for spread
Any hydro for Nilou bloom
Any amino that uses swirl
It been nearly 3 years since i play genshin and the only 90 cha are my traveler and zhong, i stock so many unused crown in my inventory
well artifacts depends ever a char u get
if it lvup rate 24% or dmg 38% or elemental dmg 28% or EM or ER etc etc.
when lvup rate u should focus 1:3 getting 70 rate base 210 damage more posible, and when u dont get rate or damage to focus just get 70 rate 170 damage , and u done artifacts
I wish I had this guide as begginer😂
You talking specifically about Yelan is funny- my friend has excellent crit ratio on her C1 Yelan (with signature weapon) but insists that her 100% ER is enough. I thought she would need about 130-140% at C1 even whilst paired with another hydro but I'm not sure as I don't have her con.
my mistake was leveling artifacts to level 20 and I got starved for mora and artifact exp very quickly after reaching ar45.
yeah it's rough
He sounds deeper now (2025)
Question about character scaling I’m starting to understand it a lil bit but my brain has gone mushy so if a character doesn’t have anything in the talent description like hp em def or anything do I just assume I just build them for attack or elemental dmg for those characters
Now I did hear you say most characters scale off attack assuming your probably like this guy is stupid 😭 it’s all so refreshing and new so I’m trying to map it in my brain
My f2p friendly leveling guide,
1: Get raiden,
2: Get the catch,
3: Max the heck out of her
4: Profit.
I need to yell "give me more ER" into domains before I get in for farming 'cuz I defo feel sabotaged by RNG 🤣everyone was complaining about getting new EM pieces when dendro meta became a thing, while me sitting on my pile of EM and never bursting pffhhh
ngl I always leveled everyone past 60 so I atleast had all their passives unlocked
despite the video being 20fps its still a 10/10 video
😭 glad you enjoyed~
The new ones are getting better!! :D
15:03 also applies in real life❤
I LOVE YOU, THANK U
Finally a video that speaks to me😭
Oops before ar 45 I was building like an ar 60 it paid off tho have a lot of lv 80 characters early now I’m 54 in at
What about the “Bored Phase” where you just level everyone to 90 and get all their talents up to 8 or 9 bc you have nothing else worthwile to do?
Teapot it is then!
Good video, wondering if you think you should wait till guaranteed 5 star artifact to farm domains. Personally, I say yes, because you should spend resin on talent, ascension and mora until that point, but always nice to know what others think
Ya I would wait till AR45 for guaranteed
I'm of the opinion that crit ratio is not a thing, but more "crit ratehold" (get it, threshold, crit ratio....? lol)
Main DPS characters should have at least 60% crit rate. Any additional crit after 60 is just a bonus. To guarantee that they'll get more crits, a 75~80% crit ratehold is a must (because of how crit works in this game, just tipping the scales a bit to having more crit rate is enough instead of trying to go for 80%+ crit rate)
After you get to that crit rate, just try to get as much crit damage as you can and as many other substat that your DPS needs if they're dependent on crits.
Oh and, whoever said that 50/200 crit stats are desirable, I wish you stub your pinky toe 69% of the time, all the time
I am AR 55 and completly messed up my team xD I got Eula Zhongli and Kazuha at lvl90 with bad artefacts
Thoma is the only 4 star i dont have 😭😭
I want him for Ganyu
Well I wish you the best getting him!!!
But his synergy with ganyu is limited since you need to normal attack to refresh and increase his shield strength but ganyu doesn’t want to normal attack
if it makes you feel better Ive been playing for a while and dont even have benny or xing
@@jenemba3both available in the shop with starglitter at some point. I had to wait for months to finally get fischl from the shop
i have like 2 years or something building an ayaka and i never maxed her , its really bad , unless there is a better way to do that i need to know lol
Amazing video
Thank you~~
This video would've been great in 2020
I really hope im not asking a dumb question but should you level Raiden's skill in a hyperbloom elemental mastery build?
But what if you are interested in characters you don’t have yet?
You can pre-farm as long as you also pre-save wishes :)
@@JelloImpact only thing stopping you is if you are unlucky and lose your 50/50
i have a question guy, will you able to 36 star abyss after being done with the third phase?
Nice guide.
I would like to add that before adv rank 45 and before having some appropriate weapons like favonius or sacraficial and/or appropiate artefefacts some of the meta units like Benet/Xinquie/ Xiangling are actualy not very good for a few reasons
= dmg requirements are low
= you cant get enough ER to make them work
they are not useless ofc but pre 45 I probably would recomend Qiqi/Barbara + shielder + 2 of your fav units.
Also dont play hyperbloom too early. You are ruining most of the combar fun cos everything dies too fast and tehre is no skill rquired
Good points
when you say a character "scales off of" how do we find out?
Should I level 90 Navia and Nahida
OMG NOO WHY DID AYATO HAVE CINNEBAR SPINDLE 😭😭
cinnabar spindle ayato?
jello on mobile?
Fair points :) I can see a level in between there would be good
12:00 sorry but you're calculating CV wrong.
Not perfectly balanced but achievable enough to make it work 😂
1-2 ratio is definitely relevant
10/250 crit has more crit value than 60/120 but 60/120 will do more overall damage by a lot
I don’t like XinQiu and his haircut
i hope your building him tho. he is pretty freaking good.
@@teknowil I have candece at c6 I’m going to build her instead
On Ayaka I use Favonia. Some say to use the Amenoma. What do you think?
