Okay so my 2002 Audi A4 3.0 Quatro engine died on the expressway a few weeks go. I've had nothing but problems with that car for years. But it's an Audi right? It's worth it going to the garage to have it fixed all the time? Sikh of it? Totally? Well I bought myself a new gorgeous 2013 Ford escape and can't tell you how much I love it. I love the abundant state of the art technology. The styling inside and outside are superb and even the fit and finish and materials are superb. This is my first American car I'm 56 years old. I highly highly highly highly recommend it. Go Ford!
@@JacobLovesJesus3 the transmission completely failed. I bought a refurbished one for just under $5000. Hugely disappointing- I loved the car though -was a great ride.
I like how this car saves me *way more* mpg on both city/hwy than the past 2 cars I have driven. My mpg slowly increases the more I drive but I use cruise control more often than by manually. Manually you can make your mph like a roller coaster which drains your gas quicker, staying at one constant speed saves gas and better fuel economy. Tell me I'm wrong but that's how it's been for me in the past month I've had this suv.
We have a 2009 Ford Escape. I love it. It looks so much better than the new ones IMO. The new "Euro" style one is ALMOST nice-looking but just misses. And the dash looks like it's trying to be the Space Shuttle or something. I hate that. I really miss my BMW X3 sometimes, that dash was CLASSY.
I test drove this car in the Sport trim... Technology wise, this thing is head, neck, and shoulders above any other competing crossover in this price range. The only issue is that at the top-end, this car is far too expensive. It drives well, and the interior is fantastic! Good car. Go test drive one if you get a chance. These things are much improved over the outgoing Escape model.
Definitely the best option in the Crossover segment. After test driving the Hyundai, Kia, Honda and Toyota, the Escape offered the most technology, performance and styling out of the five. You have to actually get in and drive one and not just take someone elses word from youtube. My last vehicle was a Honda CRV.
Dramatic improvement over the old one! Not an SUV guy, and will probably not buy one in the next decade, but I have to say the Escape looks good for once.
I have a 2005 Ford Escape..quite the change I see...Mine has 206,000 miles and still putts along! The A/C went out at about 200K miles...the metal line going to the clutch thing leaked and I lost clutch pressure..on the expwy..luckily I coasted in neutral to a shop..Thank God! Otherwise, I can't knock it much..The newer ones sure looks nice!
The edge is a great vehicle and has a much smoother ride and has more cabin space making you feel comfortable. But the escape is really nice too, and has much better fuel economy. The redesign is worlds different from the old escape. I just test drove both and bought an escape only because it was for my wife and she felt a lot more comfortable driving the edge and she drives 45 miles roundtrip a day to go to work so the escape made more economic sense for us.
I own the 2013 Ford Escape SE in the Kodiak Brown color. You'd be surprised as to how much that color pops out in the sunlight compared to last year's brown. On the freeway, I saw a Ford Edge in a more milk chocolate brown and I was turned off by it. Props to Ford for the overall revamp. I'm plenty satisfied by its product.
I've seen this car in person and I think it looks absolutely fantastic! The interior is a little busy for my taste, and without MFT it looks terrible. Still, this and the new CR-V (along with perhaps the CX-5) look to be the segment leaders right now.
The day that I wrote this I had test driven a lot of cars, and one of them had a sport trim. The actual trim I drove was the SEL model with the 1.6L ecoboost. Sorry for the confusion.
we test drove Toyota rav4,Honda crv and Ford. Ford came out on top. Great ride and love all of the tech. Love the new style over the older boxy one. The dealer didnt have one loaded with the moon roof So we ordered the titanium in red. We have a 2000 Subaru Outback.
I do, about the old version of the software. The new upgrade of which Ford sent out about 300,000 USB sticks to people who had MFT, fixed a lot of the original problems of the system and made it more user-friendly.
This is the most awesome car i have ever ride on, ford really steped up there game on this one. If you are still thinking of buying one then you are over thinking it! (titanium proud owner)
I was a bit skeptical when i first saw pics and vidoes of this new Escape (based on european Ford Kuga). But it actually looks great in person! Especially i once saw one in black paint and some black aluminum rims and it looked so sleek!
The old MFT system had many issues. The new one (as I said) has been nearly flawless. In other words (as you've said) it used to be a huge headache for Ford... they've fixed it.
I'll trade every single option and innovation you mentioned for a FORD that last 10 years 150K miles with absolutely no break downs other than oil change, tire changes, battery, mufflers. That was my HONDA 4 years ago. My Honda now has 200K and is now 14 years old. Past 4 years, its cost me couple of thousand but that was because of mechanic incompetents. Its time CAR CRITICS become CRITICAL and not car salesmen. BTW, I personally know FORD owners who constantly have problems.
Yet another Top-Notch Review by the team of AutoGuide :D ... The Photography/Light/Cinematography from beginning to the end is fantastic! Well spoken and engaging presenter.
Im so excited. I Just bought this car in black. I got the Titanium model too and Im very excited to try the "self parallel parking" whats next? Cars driving themselves?
I guess the only thing justifiable for the price is the extra tech, higher HP in the 1.6 and 2.0 engines. But $40k is really pushing it, Should top off under 35K.
The liftgate? You have to the key in your pocket while being behind the vehicle which means it will not be in the ignition, so you shouldn't have a problem with it going down the road.
The problem with your logic is the fact that the features that you can get in the Escape are not the same features you can get from a lot of the competition. You can option out an Escape to have it compete on a price level with anything within it's immediate as well as above it's class. You might be able to get an Audi, Mercedes, or Volvo for around 36K but those are base models... not fully loaded ones. You do have a decent argument on your hands comparing it to a fully loaded Grand Cherokee.
The X5 definitely doesn't cost that much, but the q7 in top trim can get up to that where I live. I was more referring to a used q7 or X5 than anything. A new car will cost more.
CX-5 doesn't have a turbo engine (a turbo itself means at least a couple thousand bucks more) and doesn't have as many options as Escape so if you are wise and get your Escape with the right options you can get it decently priced. You may not be able to get exactly the same options in both CUVs but the more expensive Escape will get more equipment and technology, that's for sure
I pity anyone who has to replace a dash light in the Escapes after 2008, you'll have to replace the entire gauge cluster to fix the problem, which could be one small light.
great production value, well thought out and simple from intro to end, A+ on producing and editing Adam Wood! (as a producer myself I appreciate good work) As for the Escape, I was one of the "complainers" about the new design, but it definately grew on me
Really? What problems are you hearing about? From what I've heard MFT has been nearly flawless. It's got two Ecoboost powertrains that are best in class for fuel economy (comparing Apples to Apples). It's got an innovative way for you to open the hatch that no other competitor has, I can go on.
Not true. The Mazda CX-5 and the Escape are very comparable when priced for equivalent features, trim levels. The only difference is : power. While you might enjoy driving a 155 HP Mazda SUV, I would not be fully comfortable with it on the highway. The Escape is more powerful in every trim level, and it's more refined. The 1.6 Ecoboost is only 2 mpg highway less than your Mazda , with vastly more usable power and low end torque. Ford will sell of lot of these in the SE-SEL trims, which are fine.
Mother of god that car is HIDEOUS. It looks and functions like minivan without the convenience of a sliding door. Front looks like a fat kid's chubby cheeks. If you want to buy this car because you love the looks and so you can haul your family to school and the grocery, get a minivan. People like you are crowding out this segment, they used to have some really nice looking, versatile cars. Look at the old CR-V, RAV-4, and escape, they used to be SPORT-UTILITY vehicles, not jacked up minivans.
How are the suspension components holding up? Have you had to replace anything like ball joints or wheel bearings or tie rods? In American cars, it seems to be right around the 200,000 mile mark that all that shit goes.
Its a good little rig. Drives good bit stiff you feel the bumps. I would buy the 2.5l or the 2.0 turbo. The 1.6l turbo is plagued with the same hesitation found on the focus. The 2.5 also reads higher mpg on the info center than the 1.6 turbo. The little screen for backup camera is nice but a bit pokey bcuz the screen is so small. They should have the bigger screen standard. Its a good ride plenty of room. The rear seats recline only on se + models. But no matter which model its overpriced.
But have you driven the CX-5 back to back and have you considered that the technology in the Escape is far better than anything else in the class? Have you also considered that the Escape has better power than the CX-5?
why? if you like ford, you will say ford is the best selling car.but if they like toyota, they will say corolla is the best selling car..everybody is entitled to their own opinion..
Im considering possibly getting a Ford Escape as my next car in 2015 if I get the Correctional Officer position before then. If not then Ill get another Focus. I right now have a 09 Focus which I intend to replace in 2015 and I am considering a Ford Escape with 4x4 as the replacement for the Focus.
As of right now the "brake peddling issue" has been fixed and the fuel line issue has also been fixed (explained by my local dealer) bought mine about a week ago. This car actually feels like a sports car/SUV cause of it's acceleration and engine(Titanium Edition) it also helps you turn precisely, and more, i mean this car is the perfect vehicle(My honest opinion) it's badass.
How does the foot-activated tailgate thing work when the car's locked? If I'm coming out of the store with bags full of groceries, I still have to reach into my pocket to hit the unlock button, right? So even though it's cool, I'm doubting the usefulness of that feature.
Ok, mazda and ford are partners kinda. The mazda is smaller so it obviously gets better fuel economy. Also, the titanium (the nicest model) starts at 30,370. GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT!!!!
LOL. what it does not have then is sync, park assist, cool tailgate swipe leg swipe thingy, and eco boost power. Also doesn't look as good as the escape. Dont forget the panoramic visa roof.
