    ❤❤❤ David could improve this by paying the driver $1.00 per minute for waiting! Private rides are skyrocketing in San Diego, California! Passengers are asking drivers to cut Lyft and Uber out of the deal! Passengers are getting robbed and drivers are getting underpaid especially with airport rides, special events and super long rides!

    I had a pax and added to queue (Lyft) within 15 minutes. With Lyft the pax gets nagged a lot whenever the driver is aboit to arrive. Im coming up to pickup my pax on a very busy street in afternoon chicavo rushour almost impossible to double park. I said to myself "if that pax isnt waiting for me outside waiting for immediate pickup, im going to instantly cancel: and sure enough they werent outside! Drove right pass and cancel. Seriously, if youre a passenger watching this video and reading this comment, know thay our time is as valuable as yours. Dont waste our time

    Last week i accepted a Lyft ride and got to the address and waited 3 minutes and then cancelled like i always do. I minute later I got a Lyft ride with a $4 bonus attached to it. Drove less and made more money. I got a Lyft call at the same address 2 days later. The woman was out there waiting. She then complained to me that a driver left her the other day and she ended up being late for her job at Taco Bell. I told her that i was the driver and she made herself late. How would she like it if i came up to her and before I gave my order to her i waited 5 minutes.

    • @avimech8546
      @avimech8546 Місяць тому +2

      The difference is she gets paid for those 5 minutes you make her wait whereas you don’t. If she doesn’t want to be late for work, she should be ready to go when she booked the ride. The worst people are the ones who get in the car just seconds before the 5 minutes is up, those kind of people don’t tip either.

      @@avimech8546 it depends. I got a regular ride that happened to be a disabled elderly. She was already beyond the cancellation fee late from church and took her an additional 15 minutes to get ready. At any time I could have cancelled and continued about my day. I got a $20 tip for being patient and helping her in and out of my car.

    I do 30 to 35 rides a day. If I waited for 5 minutes for every rider I have wasted over 2 1/2 hours of my time each day. I average $32 an hour. This means i have lost $80 that day. Doesnt make sense to wait for riders.

    Few things will drive your rating down quicker than making me wait to pick you up. Granted, if I was only a minute or 2 away when I got pinged, ok...I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. But, if I drive 10 minutes to get you and you still make me wait 3 minutes or longer you had no business calling for that ride when you did

  • @pjay197

    I just cancel after 2 mins most of the time. No cancel fee but doesn’t go against the cancellation rate. If it’s a share ride there’s a cancellation fee after 2 mins.

  • @NY2Vegas
    @NY2Vegas Місяць тому +3

    Here’s a little history about the wait time changing from 5min to 7 min (Vegas has been this way for like 3 years now). In order to make it less of an issue for us drivers, if the ride is causing us to wait and it’s busy (there’s a surge attached to the ride), the wait time is supposed to pay at a higher rate. But now that Uber hardly ever surges any more, this added “incentive” means nothing. It’s just another example of how they just can’t give anything to driver that doesn’t benefit them as well!

    • @johnmandell7413
      @johnmandell7413 Місяць тому +2

      I have found a surge wait time means I get a few more pennies to wait. 7 minutes is way to long to wait for a rider that has ordered the ride, is told how long it will take for the driver to get to them. Where I drive it is alwaynein the worst areas that the riders make me wait the longest. 7 minute wait time is just dangerous.

    Having to wait 5 minutes was long enough as is, it’s ridiculous Uber changed it to 7 minutes! Not just that, but if you arrive earlier than expected, they make you wait that extra time in addition to the 7 minutes, Uber once made me wait 12 minutes before I could cancel without penalty because I got there 5 minutes early.

    I send a text, Ive arrived, then follow up to check the street number, if no response after 60 to 90 seconds, I am gone - "cannot find rider". If big fare after 2 mins with no response to text, I call, if no answer another 30 seconds and I am gone. I do not wait to get the No Show Fee. If they turn up, depending on the ride and the $$ amount of the fare, I generally sit on the toilet the next day and go through my fares and if I feel they deserve a demotion to a 3 star from 5 star, they get a 3 star or even a 1 star if they were a shitty passenger.

Pax told me they was coming out, waited 5 min she shows up with like only 3 bags of groceries, she stank so bad like weed and still had the audacity to tell me to stop at the gas station and to top of that left no tip for wasting my time. At the end i realized she had a 4.70 rating and it all made sense😂 next time aint no way im waiting for anyone ans let alone pick em up with that rating

    I kinda hate when they say sorry. I don't know what to do with that. Especially after they lie and text, "I'm coming."
    I DO feel a wee bit better if I see them sprinting and panting and dropping all their documents, shoes untied, jacket unzipped, because then I can joke and say, "So what's the hurry? Did you order a ride when you weren't ready? Hm? Did it surprise you that it truly took me 10 minutes to arrive? Hm? Did you think it would take 15 minutes? How will we improve your scheduling skills?"
    I don't really say any of this.

  • @EdmundGrove

    I don’t cancel but if pisses me off when they come out like oohh my time isn’t important well it is !! I usually tell them if this is any other driver you would’ve probably been left here 10 minutes and that is my limit but it’s also my time and what happens is I could’ve done another ride. That’s why I get mad people that are very considerate would not do that, there are excuses. There are reasons but not to make someone wait that long you know Uber is coming. My girlfriend takes it all the time. She said I wait outside 10 minutes before the rides getting here I said everyone is not you !

    Just a fact that riders contacting or replying gives a filling of respect towards drivers to wait that seven minutes but not more than that because it's simply not worthy. Unless the rider is offering extra compensation. But when they don't even reply, cancelation is definit at any time.

    That's a lie. After 5 min you CAN cancel on them and collect your cancelation fee. Time is money, and they are not going to hold up my money. It's rude to make your driver wait more than 5 mins. Usually, if you have to wait more than five minutes they're not coming anyway so it's a waste of time and money.

    How much was this ride for? I have found that if it is a minimum ride fare in my area I give the rider 3 minutes to get to my car and then I cancel. If it is a good paying ride I will wait longer. That is a joke since good paying rides are almost instinct now. Cancel after 3 minutes and the next ride is usually a better ride and makes up for the time I took to drive to the rider I canceled on.

    I hate reserved rides. You get there and have to wait 50 minutes until buddy shows up. Meanwhile you only drive him 1 block WTF! I could have made $150 in 50 minutes nope because a loser like me picked the $12 reserved ride I was surprised when I arrived. Since I cancelled too many times for reserved rides I am no longer eligible 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣!!!! I don't know if anybody makes money doing those, I just simply don't see the worth.

    • @TM-gd5is
      @TM-gd5is Місяць тому +3

      75% of the time reservations are only worth it at the start or end of your day because Uber will often throttle you and make you wait 15/20 minutes before the ride, it's bad enough that half of reservations are just pos pax with terrible ratings that cant get a driver willing to put up with them. I guess theyre desperate for drivers in my small market because I've cancelled like 7 reserved rides in the past month and a half and still get them.

    • @gabrielorozco6915
      @gabrielorozco6915 Місяць тому +1

      I only do reserve trips to the airport that is an hour away. Tahoe to Reno. Almost always at 3-4 am. I try to make 100$ after gas. So I only go for 120-138$ 2 hour round trip. I’ve done hundreds of reservation airport trips with Uber and zero with Lyft. Lyft offers 75-85$
      They just don’t get it I guess, there’s a huge demand to get people from Tahoe to the airport. Uber used to pay 38$ flat rate for any reservation even for a mile trip. I noticed that stopped so I’m seeing 13$ reservations for short trips. Not worth it. The worst is when you plan for a 3 am airport and adjust your sleep and not work, and they cancel. Doesn’t happen often tho.
      I’ve learned to get there 10 minutes early
      Otherwise they want you to wait for 30-40 minutes.
      Uber also got rid of the 38$ flat rate for Safeway grocery pick up. That was the best money maker. No more than 4 items if it’s more Safeway did the shopping for you. 38$ for Less than 1/2 hour work but no more
      I have a feeling come winter lots of people will be waiting for food and missing their flights
