When You Give Up Farming To Start A Tree Empire In Stardew Valley
Вставка
- Опубліковано 18 вер 2024
- When you give up farming to start a tree farm is what happens when your income comes strictly from playing lumberjack. Wood is worth at least 2 gold per piece, and you can produce a lot on your farm and actually harvest it pretty efficiently. Plus foraging perks at level 5 and 10 make it even more valuable. Just an idea I'd wanted to try for quite a while. Stardew Valley gameplay with my commentary as always!

Quotes from the official stardew valley wiki:
(on normal trees) "Once cut down, trees don't regrow on the farm even if you leave the stump, however seeds can spawn around stumps."
(on mushroom trees) "If the stump is left alone, the following Spring, it will regrow."

So trunks do not grow back into trees. Also, the seeds dont have a set growth rate. There is a 20% chance a plant will progress to the next stage every day. Some trees grow fast. Some grow slowly. It's all random. Also, these facts are for common trees. Nor sure about fruit trees.
Fruit trees always take exactly 28 days to grow if the surrounding 8 tiles are empty.
@@TheRaven123 sorry. I was talking about whether fruit trees regrow from stumps. I know mushroom trees grow back from stumps.
I'm quite sure fruit trees works exactly the same as regular trees, when regroving from stump. They won't grow back like normal trees.
Fruit trees also don't grow if there's anything on the floor, even paths
This, and also I'm pretty sure the stumps are preventing the saplings beside them are growing fully, just like regular trees.
Stumps don't grow back. They can spread seeds around them and spawn more trees that way, but the tree itself won't grow back
And the reason why seeds planted on the same day don't grow in synch is because the grow rate is random, the seed/sapling has a 1/5 chance to grow one stage (out of five) each night, so a seed might grow into a full-sized tree in 4 days, or it could take two full seasons depending on chance
mushroom tree stumps have a chance of regrowing

This video is actually what inspired me to start a new play through of Stardew with a focus on mostly chopping down trees and trying to make trees the main source of income in the game. I have a done a little farming just for the purposes of finishing the community center bundles but so far I have done pretty well money-wise. Thanks DF for all your vids. They are a lot fun to watch.

He said “hope you liked it”!!! Yes, DF, I did like it!
I've got a video idea. Fill your farm with sheds, fill those sheds with planter boxes and then fill those planter boxes with rare seeds and see the value. It should be the most valuable crop you can do legitimately without using wine or casks.
So, I'm going to assume you mean garden pots. Also, deluxe barns are more efficient as they have more space than sheds
Stumps don’t grow back....

*DF gives up farming and stars a tree empire*
Stardew Valley: wait.That's illegal
On a related note, I always choose the fruit bats in the cave instead of mushrooms; fruits turn out to be much more valuable over time, and I put tappers on the mushroom trees when they appear so I get mushrooms regularly (common, red, & purple). If you leave the stumps alone during winter, it all reappears intact on the first of spring.
Silly DF, regular tree stumps never regrow and regular tree seeds need 1 empty space around (no paths, rocks, grass, etc) them to keep their growth from being impeded.
Correct on the stumps never regrow for regular trees.
However regular trees can in fact still grow fine with things in one of the 8 spaces around them, so long as it's not another fully grown tree. I've made tree tap farms by laying out path in an area so that there's one space between each tree, and completely surrounded by path they still go from planted to fully grown no problem. In this video as well you can see that when he plants a tonne of trees in touching lines every second or third still grows fully. Once one grows it then prevents the adjacent ones from growing. It's fruit trees that can't have anything at all surrounding them.
time to revisit tree farming my friend. mystic tree sap sells for base 1000. and mushroom logs around them produce purple mushrooms... put into the dehydrators sell for a lot also. big fun to be had with trees now since 1.6
Why not take the relatively unused tree-branch (huehuehuehue) of the Foraging skill-line to the next level and get the rarely picked Tapper level 10 perk?
With +25% money made from saps, you earn approximately 31.25g per tree per day. What makes tapping unique compared to other "farming" activities is that you can turn the entire woods area into a GIANT tapping area without cheating by planting seeds in the dirt locations, using the naturally spawning trees, and planting trees in any artifact spots.
Combine this with your farm and who knows what you could get every week.
(And while it doesn't technically count as tapping, it would also be super cool to see the profits of tapping bunches of mushroom trees)
Cheers!
I want to try this, Im gonna turn my whole farm into a taper farm and get back to you 👍
You could use all the seeds you gather from the trees to make field snacks. Free energy from the trees.
sometimes the titles of these videos are just so much 😂😂 you're the best, DF
now that you have mentioned mushroom trees can spread and there's a chance everyday in fall for one to appear. Is it possible to make a sustainable mushroom tree farm?

I had to pause the video to understand and appreciate the Marnie joke at the beginning. Bless you XD
I made a "sustainable forest" in one corner of my farm, planted about a hundred pine trees with a space between each and filled the gaps with cobblestones to stop debris. Every time I cut one down I planted the seed it dropped. Worked really well and since the rest of my farm was cleared there were no other trees "competing" to grow so they all grew back straight away. Infinite wood 🌲
I love your videos keep up the good work man!! ♥ Too bad its only 360p tho😕

Have to give you a like because that "old wood" joke was brilliant.
You should make the whole farm fill up with muschroom trees and see what that is worth each year letting them regrow to spring. This needs to happen!
These videos make me want to play the game again.
During my time playing the game, I have grown trees for lumber many times. I have found that the stumps don't really grow back, even if they did, it would take much longer than if you plant a new seed. The best method for getting a good amount of trees to grow quickly is to gather a large number of seeds, and plant them in a pattern which allows for 8 spaces around each tree. This isn't to make them grow better, these trees grow fine clustered close together, but its so you can get to the tree once you are ready to cut it down. Paths between trees help accomplish this, as well as keeping seeds from spreading uncontrollably.
Odd thing about trees, The xbox version of Stardew has a cracking animation for chopping down pines and only pines
I like to set some path tiles around my planted tree seeds to ensure they won't be blocked from growing to full size.
let’s get that wood bois

Was a video ever made comparing the value of cutting grass for hay over growing wheat. Since grass starters can be crafted from cutting weeds you can easily farm grass
Yeah you really want to cut the hardwood stumps on the west side of the Forest Farm. They regrow EVERY day. Same thing for the hardwood stumps in the Secret Woods. I spent my first ever Stardew winter basically just making coal and wood out of hardwood (hardwood into wood chipper to produce wood, then wood into charcoal kiln for coal)

So, based my tree farming experience you couldn't make a run of it by just wood farming. You would definitely run out of trees, and even to not get close to running out of trees you'd need to carefully manage them like a farm. You actually don't start out with many trees at all, and it takes a few years to get completely dense stands if you aren't very carefully managing things. Worse, once you do have a dense wood you can't actually get to the mature trees without cutting down a considerable number of young saplings even in an optimal layout, so you can't actually ever achieve the optimal rates.
Stumps not only don't grow back, they still count as a tree which means that they prevent nearby saplings from growing. So leaving the stumps was reducing your efficiency in a really big way.
It takes on average like 25 days for a tree to become mature, and it drops about 20 sticks of wood on an average day. So each tilable square is yielding on average 1 stick per day. You've got like 2800 tilable squares maximum, and so your maximum sustained rate would be like 2800*3. Trouble is, that you can't ever achieve even a fraction of that because trees interfere with each others growth and trees block you from getting to them. I wouldn't be surprised if real sustainable rates were only about 400 sticks per day, which would only be 1200 gold. You could probably do more than that with simple foraging for random spawns.
To make it even remotely worthwhile wood would need to be worth about 5 per stick, and the level 5 perk would need to make wood worth like 500% more rather than 50% more and Lumberjack would need to drop considerably more hardwood. Forester is really the worst perk in the game because wood is such a valuable crafting material and wood sources so relatively scarce, yet its also even with the perk worth basically nothing if you sell it. It still couldn't touch farming because you'd probably be averaging sub 10000 gp a day, but then you could at least say, "I'm a lumberjack and I'm OK".
Instead, all that happens is you become a typically under employed economically challenged member of Star Dew valley waiting for the next handout from someone who actually has a job.
You forgot one major thing. You can actually *BOMB DOWN* all the trees!
Each tree has a % chance each night to move up to the next stage. So trees don't grow in unison.

if you don't have any trees to cut down or space on your farm, you can just go into a little-used area of the map and plant and cut down trees there

Robin would love to see all that wood
wood u stop destroying the lorax's home because he speaks for the trees
You could say that DF officially went insane from all of those ideas. 😂
you could also put stone paths on the farm to make it easier to get around
DF, honey, the trees on your farm won't regrow from stumps.
What I do while de-foresting, is I use the tree seeds to make field snacks to go for longer.
would probably work better if you organized the tree farm... put a spot between each seed, maybe put a floor down between them too
I do that on my farm, alternating rows so they're not growing side-by-side. Oak on the left side of the farm, maple on the right side of the farm, Pines down by the pond.
Thanks for the videos!

Hey DF...

Just wondering
Trees do in fact grow to full height if they are right beside other trees....even surrounded
If you mean in Stardew Valley, then no. They grow to the sapling stage when right next to a grown tree, and never grow higher. This is amazingly simple to test.
@@rocmage1366 yep I have many times before and yes they do grow to full size. Ive had it in as low as a year and as high as 3 years.
@@supabeast123 Trees do not grow to full size if there's already another fully grown tree in their 8 adjacent tiles.
How yall gonna say that tress don't grow to full if there is another in a certain area....he made a video not to long ago...passed like 3 years and the farm was just solid trees FULLY grown side by side by side.
