@@JoelMillerTheSmuggler Decapitation is almost never successful in one swift move, the victims are usually still alive while their head is slowly coming off
this ending is still amazing to this day, john taking all those bullets to the most critical spots of his body, yet standing and barely breathing for a good 30 seconds
I just realized something sad, Arthur said goodbye to little Jack when he was on a horse with Tilly. And he also said goodbye to Abigail while on a horse with Sadie. John said goodbye to Jack and Abigail, while they were both on a horse. I may be reaching but Rockstar has some great connections and foreshadowing to their games
Nice!!! It's so sad that John couldn't fulfil Arthur's dying wishes of being away from the outlaw life and living a clean livelihood. The story of RDR series is so good!
Low Honor - Dutch: “Our Time Has Passed John…” (signifying John is as good as done for, like Dutch) High Honor - Arthur: “We can’t change what’s done, we can only move on” (signifying the end of the road and marching to his destiny)
“Run & don’t look back” That right there is why Rockstar absolutely nailed the merging of both stories with the profound impact that they achieved with the end result & a rekindled appreciation for the first game’s story.. Both masterpieces of cinema not just gaming 👌
i think i prefer just john standing there, coughing, and taking it in silence, with the thoughts of his regrets thru his head. this is good and all, but it deserves an arthur ending, not a john ending.
Whole different context this time around. Arthur was persuading John to get out of the outlaw life and move on to greener pastures, whereas here John has realised that despite doing everything that was asked of him Ross still stabbed him in the back. He was to the Pinkertons, as the mission name suggests, "The Last Enemy".
really goes to show that in both rdr2 and rdr1 .. that's just the way it is. john, arthur, uncle, kieran, sean... it's sad to see them all die, but... that's the way it is.
@@FlyingBaco the rest of the game is really good and is a pretty satisfying conclusion to john’s story, there’s actually 1 more mission after this where you play as an older jack
He redeemed himself so much in the epilogue of red dead two and he forever redeemed himself by getting rid of Javier Escuela and Dutch and Bill Williamson and helping the Mexicans and then sacrificing himself for his family
the silence in this scene is so much more impactful than putting a sad song over Johns heavy breathing after getting shot 50 times. i love that idea bc i love those games and song, but i would have put it on some other time in the game.
i think that's a better way to expirience it for the first time, but after replaying the games a few times and knowing the soundtrack this is a fun way to lok at it differently
agree. i remember when i was a kid and was inside the barn thinking ''im gonna get out of this, right?'' and then the silence after the shots, johns heavy breathing. no song needed and you loose so much by not letting the silence prevail.
I believe that this moment is what ended the west. John was the last great gunslinger. While Jack might take up a gunslinger role after his father and mother died, he didn't for long, as after he killed Ross and inherited beechers hope, he became a writer and lawyer. Now, after that statement, I have a request: PLEASE, PLEASE put American Venom with John meeting Bill, Javier, Dutch (including when he kills him) and when Jack kills Ross. PLEASE
I feel like marston wanted to go out like Arthur, like he wanted to force it. He could’ve ran, waited till agents retired and forgot, sure, might’ve endangered people, but he could protect people well, that’s why his death is silent, sure, it’s honourable, but it isn’t Arthur. And it never will be, which adds so much weight.
@ alright, I fully understood his sacrifice, as I stated, endangerment, but the agents retired, you could see if you played as Jack. Over time, if you got far enough, you’d be able to escape without such a sacrifice.
@also, if you do think I didn’t understand, I’d love you to tell me how you interpret it, I haven’t played rdr1, so maybe some insight would be helpful.
Think about this Arthur Morgan fighting against TB Just to accomplish John and his family to have a better life.😔😔 John Marston letting his family go to escape death taking all the bullets and standing as best he can for the last seconds of his life😔😔😔
The scene is so violent that I feel like it doesn’t match with the song. Arthur’s death was peaceful, unlike John’s… I was more sad because it made me think of Arthur than because it matches with the scene
Kinda ruins it, ngl. Sorry, but I just genuinely don't think "That's the way it is" fits at all. The silence of the scene elevates it way more imo. Though I do like how you used the OST version of the song, lol. So many people only acknowledge the ingame version of the song uploaded on youtube by "PeopleCanFly23," and not the superior, true OST version.
It’s kind of crazy how John got the most brutal death out of all of them. Except for Kieran maybe.
kieran’s death was probably quicker given he had his head cut off
I think a firing squad is more brutal than decapitation, especially since John had live through all that pain for at least a minute before dying

That's right where I lost it, too. The hardest hitting part of the video.
”what s the meaning of the scar,if we dont know how to heal” really defines john s life and his scars
Literally crying in my grave rn (Edit: Abigail! Jack! Uncle! I'm famous!)
Leave the grave John, your family still needs you. Jack still need you.
How many times have I told you Revenge is for fools? You didn't listen to me John!
Who TF are you
arthur isnt it
@arthurmorgan9202 Agent Milton is here arthur!
I really like this, but I think the silence of the original really captures the hopelessness of the situation John is in
the heavy breathing after getting shot so many times

What about in chapter six there is a reference to Dutch’s quote from right before he jumped in the first game.

You should put voices talking to John, like Arthur Or Dutch while John lets his family go run away from the barn
Ye
“Don't look back”
“You can't change who you are!”
“Don't try to be two people at once”
“How many times I got to bury you, John?”

High Honor - Arthur: “We can’t change what’s done, we can only move on” (signifying the end of the road and marching to his destiny)
Revenge is a fool's game
I'm pretty sure there was a lot going on inside John's mind, this quotes echoing all at once and again will push him to face reality
That's the way it should be. The music fits in perfect bro.
"Don't worry John, I got a plan." Dutch's ghost
WHAT THE HELL ARE THEY DOING?! I TOLD THEM TO GET OUT OF THERE!
What’s next, Jack decides to be a fool and go get revenge or something?!
Honestly, I kinda like the original having no music since it adds to the sudden/unexpected feeling

"Arrhur Speaking to you from the other world" Arthur: You did very well, John... I'm proud of you. John: Thanks.....I'll see you later, brother.
I think the lack of a soundtrack makes it hit the feelings harder
Should've added it when John rides back to Beecher's Hope, after Dutch dies...yk? Where he remembers... well, Arthur's voice...
