I just picked up a 2004 to put an ez30”R” into. Loved the detail on the videos and I’ll be documenting my trials and tribulations on my channel as well. Super excited and I believe it will be worth the headache.
I just got a 2012 impreza with a slugish fb20 with a six speed cheap for a track only car and I'm going to follow in your footsteps EZ30 and elite 2500 . Keeping an eye out for a donor car . Thanks for sharing your journey 👍👍👍
Only fb20 that came with a six speed is 2018+ crosstrek other than that there are only 5 speeds. Looking to do an fa20t swap myself. Everyone doubts me and tells me how expensive it would be but i refuse to settle for a wrx rather have something that stands out and is different 🤙🏻
@@dmedeiros1974 I would recommend against the EZ36 unless you do a destroked motor to make it an EZ32. The EZ36 has a rod stroke ratio of 1.2~ which is horrific and bad for anything over 5k rpm
What 5 speed transmission are you running on the car in the video I have a ez30 motor from a 03 outback and I can’t figure out what trans to use that’s a 5 speed
@@Spenceboy94 what year was the 2.5i cause I have a 07 2.5i Impreza 5 speed no turbo and idk if it will handle the power from the ez30 what year and model did you get your trans from looking for a 3.90 -4.11 what car and year does that come from?
First trans was a 07 and I abused it. It's still working fine with no issue in another car. The current trans is from a 04 Legacy and again I've been using launch control and it still lives. Even if I were to put a turbo on it I would get blast plates for the 5mt before I 6mt swap.
How's the intake right next to the throttlebody treating you? Been concerned about heat creep on an EJ20 but it seems much more viable on the plastic body EZ30
Was it hard to get the cold start and warmup tuning right? Or does it feel pretty daily drivable with the haltech? I had a megasquirt back in the day and want to avoid the drivability issues I had with it..
After initially putting in the 1st gen engine I'd say i noticed more understeer (slightly) but since then I have coilovers stiffer sway bar and have reduced the weight of the car by 300 lb. so the difference is negligible now
Was the universal harness kit pretty straight forward? I was going to have iwire do the harness n they don't do h6 harness's any more, so ill be doing it myself, any tips? And wide band o2?

That intake induction sound is glorious, it's almost like having ITBs. Maybe it's because of that filter that's very close to the firewall.

I was running a 5mt out of the 2.5i Impreza with a 3.9 Final drive. Now it's a 5mt out of a legacy with a 4.11 final drive.

Temps definitely did get up there. I did eventually make a longer cold air for it.

Which Haltech loom did you use? Any resources you can point out that were useful? I'm doing this same swap with a Gen 1 EZ30 into a JDM Bugeye

Not too difficult to get cold start tuning right. These Haltech Elites are powerful units and can easily be daily driven once tuning is dialed in.
