- Some guitars are more special than others, even when that guitar is owned by a world-famous guitarist and guitar collector like Joe Bonamassa. In 1996, he purchased a red 1962 Gibson ES-335 and used it on his first solo album, A New Day Yesterday. In 2001, he regrettably sold the guitar to help fund his move from New York to LA. As the 20th anniversary of Joe's first record approached, a strange twist of fate and an unexpected phone call resulted in Joe being reunited with his old friend, the red ES-335 that propelled him through his first solo effort and launched him into a new life on the West Coast. Feeling fortunate to get his old guitar back, Joe promised that this important instrument would stay with him for the rest of his days. The Epiphone Joe Bonamassa 1962 ES-335 is a tribute to a legendary guitarist and one of his cherished instruments. It features a one-piece mahogany neck with an Indian laurel fretboard and a comfortable Rounded C profile, Gibson BurstBucker™ 2 and 3 pickups wired to CTS® potentiometers and Mallory™ capacitors, A Switchcraft™ pickup selector toggle switch and output jack, and a Maestro™ Vibrola™. A custom hardshell case with Epiphone and Joe Bonamassa graphics and a certificate of authenticity are also included.
A limited edition guitar strap with Joe Bonamassa's logo embossed in gold will be included with any 1962 Epiphone ES-335 purchased on Joe Bonamassa's online store.

That guitar sounds awesome.
I almost bought a 335 a long time ago. I was really into Andy Scott, guitarist for the Sweet, and loved his tone, especially early on. He played a cherry 335, don't know what year. Had a Bigsby on it. The one I almost bought was a grey looking sunburst, no Bigsby, but it had great, gutsy tone, but at the time I didn't really have the money and when I did a side by side with my Univox Gimme LP copy, the tones were remarkably similar. Possibly because the Univox has a hollow cavity between the cap and the body. So there ya go.
Glad to hear the Joe Bonamassa got his 335 back. Sometimes our guitars become a part of us.
Now that is one righteous tool that I would love to go to work with.

Epiphone is has become top notch. I have a Epiphone Les Paul Standard. Love it. I have 2 guitars. I'm a poor boy so have a ESP LTD and my even cheaper Epiphone. My Epiphone just so much better in my opinion.

If I wanted a 335 again the $1299 price tag including case would be a no brainer. I just don't get into the semi-hollow vibe as a regular player found myself dusting mine off when I got it out lol. Great looking guitar

I have seen many reviews of this JB 335 and the majority have been very positive and this looks to be an exceptional instrument. I have heard some negatives about it being so expensive, and the fact that is an Epiphone that is being made in China doesn’t justify the price… I don’t think people could be more wrong, and I do not think Joe Bonamassa would put his name on something that would not be to the highest standards and authenticity for that 1962 model, I would love to be able to play one, but I doubt I’ll ever get the chance let alone on one of these, but given the choice between spending upwards of $3000 or having the Epiphone I’d take the Epiphone, there’s nothing you cannot do with this one that you could do with the Gibson, except spend a whole lot more money, and the fact that Joe Bonnemasa has endorsed this guitar, speaks volumes about its value and quality.
