The paper is cardboard and not made for watercolouring. It does not suck very much paint - it runs on the surface during the process. The water in one tub is usually a little dirty (Then I can see, where I put the water on the paper. The other is clean if i.e. I want to add yellow colour, otherwise it will not turn out yellow.

I use some kind of carton with a thin layer of clay. This carton is very cheep, and maybe you can get it in all kinds of office or art stores. It is just normal professional water colour. I don't know if you can use acrylic - I never did - but try it out!!!
Dear Beth. Thank you! Yes I know about Daniels Smiths watercolours and I love them. He has created a lot of tubes where the pigments are enemies. The one I love the most is Cascade Green because it separates in green and turquoise. But on my videos I think I never used his colours.

@Freed1 Some say so. Why not give it a try. With lots of water, you might even succeed painting on could pressed paper (not less than 300 g). I just started experimenting with stone paper and it looks great with the mastercard and less water.

Yes, as other poster stated, it's the weight and type of paper. Some professional artist will even order special types of paper by the sheet, and they're pricey. I noticed how the water and paint flowed, as if it was on glass, and not one buckle! I have some mixed media paper, that seems to work a bit like this.

I only apply water, but because of the cardboard, which is blank, the water runs faster and will not so fast be absorbed by the paper. Just ask again if it doesn't reply your question!

The paint brush is really wet so here it off first time if you use instead and reduce the amount of water on your first try you’ll get more color
