Is there a way to simply just lock a gem preventing it from leveling up further? There's a feature like this on console version but I can't seem to find it for PC.
uh i know this comment is from 1 year ago but why do you want to lock a gem, is there a benefit to locking it? I’m just asking because I’m a new player and is still learning new things, hopefully you don’t take this comment in the wrong way.
Please make a full game guide explaining everything in this confusing game, ur way better at explaining things than others people, and u really highlight the importance of important details
You just got another sub, and I can guarantee a couple more. I picked up POE on release, but was heavily into hardcore WoW raiding and a few other things years ago. I tried to pick it up again maybe 5 or so years ago, and I just couldn't. Now, I'm 100% determined to get in, learn the game over the next couple of months, and start having fun making builds and doing crazy shit. Today will be my first day going back, and I'm looking forward to more of your 2021 Beginner Series videos.
I would love to know some awesome (beginner) gem+supportgem combinations for good destruction, defence, and supporting aura(s). In addition what would a good character use, for a primary skill, secondary, aura etc what would a typical loadout look like? Possibly showing some basic steriotype builds for the main chars, and how to use the skilltree, focus on defence, offence special skills etc. (Basicly (a series?) a manual to be able to create a potent character, choice of gear prefix/suffix, choice of vials, choice of skilltree skills and how to "theme" your character)
Update: I don't believe you can over-level your gems anymore. I just started the game and now any gem that has requirements higher than my level are greyed out and you are unable to level them. I'm glad they changed this!
The one question I never see answered anywhere is, "How do I know when I should level up a gem?" I've never really played passed the 30s in the game, so I've never leveled a gem beyond level 1. For active ability gems, should I be leveling them up as soon as I can (assuming I meet all requirements)?
Thank you for the guide! I'm really new to the game and i didn't understand the part where you said that some players doesn't want their gems to level up freely. What is the reason for that?
Video quality (Gem basics section) is low/pixelated as if this was streaming at 720 or your recording Bitrate is really low. In OBS try 65000 for local recording. Even so, thanks for making this video!
I believe item level and type restricts it. Gloves, boots, and helm I believe can only have up to 4 sockets when you hit around act 2. Some weapons and armor can get 5 sockets around act 5 etc.
Im new to the game, I use fire golem gem, is there any support gems that are good to use together with fire golem? To make it summon more, or make it stronger and stuff. :)
Any of the support gems that have a tag that the skill gem has will affect it. For example since the golem gem has the "minion" tag, all ""minion" support gems would affect it.
The fact that the skill levels and eventually you won't be able to use it again is the dumbest design in gaming. Skills are supposed to get stronger as you level them. Not become nonexistent smh
So much in this game doesnt tell u jack shit. I mean I don't want my hand held but somethings are just "WTF do I do here?". I got the basics down but didn't know about how to get those GCP. That's gona be VERY helpful. ty for the video P.S. I got Tebula Rasa chest at lvl 20 something while leveling. It has the 'S' link configuration (I have no clue if it's only EVER that or has other possible configs) but what I want to know is say if i have only 2 gems socketed into it, top left a skill gem and bottom right a support gem. Does that mean the link is valid or do i have to put the 2 directly next to each other? A player in game did answer this question but I want to be sure. ty in advance : ]
I can agree I have tried to get friends to play PoE the most I do is ask them to look at a few skills they like and I'll try to find or come up with a build for them or at the very least try to ask what classes they like in other games and I'll find something similar
I dunno. I think it depends on your experience as a gamer. I have found learning the basics quite intuitive. I think if you try and understand everything from the beginning your gonna have a bad time. But if your take your time and take the information in, as its is given to you and relevant. It's quite easy to get started.

You can right click the + on the gem level pop up to stop it from appearing with your gem up notifications.
@@Wolfcryer Thank you very much for this.
how do you do it on console?
@@kingdead3729 highlight the gem and press triangle (playstation) Y button (xbox)

Working on it but things are on hold for at least a few days unfortunately
As a new player, I found this video pretty informative. Thanks
I'm a super new player and really enjoyed your 2 beginner vids,, please keep making them cause this game is very overwhelming for us newbies :)

How do you show your life and shield bar numerically (bottom right)
Very much and good information, ty! From the very basics to the start of the endgame.
Totally new to the game and found this very helpful. Thank you
i just got it, thanks for this video

Of course you have to lvl up the skills if you have no mana issues and have the stats for it
8:55 how to do that on PS5?
Does it matter where I place the active skill or does it have to be the first slot then your support skills? Thanks
Order doesn't matter. :)
Awesome video thank you
Just fyi, if you render your videos in 2k, it'll force youtube to use a better video codec
What build was that you were using?
What means little letters next to gems when inserted in gear, letters like h, m, i...
Sir can you teach me a gem combination summon reaper? And what to put to the 6 link? Thank you

Sometimes you want to keep them lower level due to the attribute requirements.
@@Wolfcryer Last question, how can i tell when to not level up my gems?
@@heh7851 it will say when you can't

Great video 👌
what determines how many gem slots an item has? is it random?
I believe item level and type restricts it. Gloves, boots, and helm I believe can only have up to 4 sockets when you hit around act 2. Some weapons and armor can get 5 sockets around act 5 etc.
Idk but gems have been leveling up automatically for me. What do people mean they need to manually level up gems?
It would have been great if you would have had examples what what you make a video about. People process information in three ways...
Why won’t the deleveling recipe work??
If a gem doesn’t show a quality value, can I assume it’s quality is 1?

Sorry mate, doesn't sound basic advice to me :D "this skill gem is ready to level up": HOW do I do this.. please
lol click the plus sign that pops up when it levels :)

This game is pretty overwhelming to new players, and it seems to get more complicated every update.
