Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime is a game that has been recommended to us a bunch, so this weekend we finally sat down and gave it a shot. As far as couch co-op games go, this one has gotta be a new favorite! The real challenge is not separating after letting me steer the ship.

Scorpion turret in a nutshell
Never heard of this one actually. But a couch co-op game based on love and saving cute animals from spikey monsters seems like something you got commissioned for the sole purpose of playing for a date night. Glad that a game exists exists that is so perfect for this series.

It's actually top-tier coop for the hardcore gamer
I found having assigned stations was ESSENTIAL in this game. Like one person does engines and top and left guns, and the other does the other guns, the shield, and the super weapon. Jelly bean ship is also the best I found because it lets one person effectively control shields without leaving engines by rotating the whole ship

Love watching your videos! I wanna suggest you guys play Plate Up!!! It's like Overcooked but with a lot more things like unlocking new recipes, building automated restaurants, and all kinds of stuff. My bf and I are obsessed with this game and they got an update today!

Me and my brother played through this a few years ago, we absolutely loved it, I was driver and he was the reflecting shields mostly, 100% all the levels, and the Jelly ship best ship

I love this game, my favorite combos were double metal for shield and then beam and power for wheel for a jet engine!

THIS GAME IS SO CUTE
Amazing as always! And in 2 player ive had similar experiences with this game testing the relationship counter to its cutesy vibe. For another wacky couch co-op game I highly recommend Monster Prom. Its a dating sim where you have to get certain characters to like you to go to Prom with them, but the twist is that its in Hell with a bunch of very well written but wacky characters. And with the recent release of Monster Prom 3, its currently also on sale on steam.

i played this with my wife... its nearly impossible with 2 ppl. we played it with 4 ppl and it was awesome, i would say 3 is the lowest you can go, because you need a driver, a shield-wielder and at least one gunner.

Destroy All Humans 2 : Reprobed has split screen couch coop. yep yep.
Despite seeming like it's good 2-player game, that's actually the hardest way to play the game (solo or double dates are 100% the way to go).
Also, Jelly Roll is actually the best ship, as you can minimize station switching by rotating to shield/shoot things. It takes some time to get used to the rotation, but it eventually becomes easier to use.

Omg I only just realized you guys have never played Haven for Date Night. GO. GO DO IT NOW. PLEASE.
The short version is Haven is part RPG, part visual novel, lots of hover rollerblading and the best damn writing of a couple I have ever seen. The music is fucking fantastic as well and the devs came back later to embrace LGBTQ couples, allowing you to pick the genders of the two protagonists with full new voicing. Which I just have to give them top marks for!

I'm curious, have you ever considered making your girlfriend play Oddworld? Specifically the old PlayStation 1 ports of Abe's Oddysee and Exoddus on Steam, as the remakes aren't as good.
It may be a good test of her perseverance, since it's like the old school "Dark Souls of platformers," with many levels demanding absolute perfection, and tossing you back to the start if you don't provide. It also has one of the coolest game worlds and art styles I've ever seen in a game, even with PS1 graphics.
