It's hilarious that 90% of the people in the comment section talking about how bad this game looks are Horizon Forbidden West players (according to their own uploads). Comparing an AAA game made by almost 400 employees with a 100 million dollar budget to an indie game made by a dozen people is just sad.

Great review, gave the video a like. Just a point of criticism. You gave the game a 9 but didnt point out some flaws. If i were to go by what you said in the review, I heard a 10. Great gameplay, pushes the rougelike genre, made dying interesting, and rich story. Sounds like a masterpiece to me.
@@nickp.4419 Because you love the game and want more people to experiance it. Infuencers and reviewers hold a lot of power and a 10 is a big deal compared to a more cpmmon 9.
From what i remembered, IGN said they only give 10 to a game that defined or redefined a genre. So 9 is the best they can give for this game. Maybe it will be 9.5 if they still do decimal
10 is listed as a masterpiece. Something can have no flaws and not be a masterpiece (think of something that does nothing wrong but is itself just a decent product). The opposite is also true, in that something can be a masterpiece while having some flaws. End of the day, these reviews are the opinions of the person writing them, they can see nothing particularly wrong with a game but still not think it rises to the level of a masterpiece
Have over 70 hours played on PC, this game is a sleeper hit! The more you play, the more it keeps on giving. Bought on the switch to support the developer and waiting for cross-saves! Oh yeah, and that soundtrack...
Same here! I have the game on Steam and bought it on my switch lite just to support the developer. I'm even considering trading my switch lite for a regular switch so I can enjoy playing it on my 60' inch 4k tv, as well as enjoying it on a slightly bigger screen on the go (when compared to the switch lite). Such an amazing game!
I've been playing this game for almost a year now and I gotta say that if not for Animal Crossing and the global circumstances, this game is my GOTY. Supergiant really nailed this one. There isn't anything wrong with the game in my 50+ hours of playing. I'll probably just wipe my file and start over since the game is in 1.0 release and there is SO MUCH MORE to discover now.
I like how you thought the lucky tooth trinket is better than a boon trinket. When you're further into the game than 50 hours, that extra life is worthless, and getting a boon you need for a build is far more valuable. Aphrodite's trinket is something I'll regularly pop on after floor 1 or 2. Get that insane debuff / DPS boost etc.. far more useful than an extra life you wont use.
Wow this game is epic , what make this game so unique is the fact that they manage to bring merit to characters just by taking even though there are no single cut scene ...

This game deserves to be given a shot by any gamer even remotely curious; I'll be diving back into the underworld this weekend and it will be glorious!
I Just bought it , I love mythology and dungeon like games with op character builds so this sounds like it’s right up my alley
This game is genius, & stunningly beautiful. I bought the Switch Lite specifically for this title. Now I am going to get Supergiant's back catalogue as well.
I have never heard of this game till it’s game of the year nominee. Gotta try it out
Me too xd
Try it out guys it's incredible
it's like when your teacher gives you a slightly lower grade after a presentation, even tho they talk like it was flawless
just give me the 100 points gosh dang it
Definitely, one of the best games I have ever played. Glad I decided not to sleep on it.
I am glad Nick praised and acknowledge every great aspect of the game. I do not care about the score, 9/10 is fair score. The game is an amazing experience and he did a great job explaining why. Finally a great review in a very long time.
I can't believe this has more action than Doom Eternal!
you played it?
This is so a 10. Dialogue, Combat, and Mechanics. 10/10
The art style, voice acting, soundtrack, gameplay and story all seem really cool.
You can get it on pc
This game is an absolute GEM for the price. Puts AAA titles to shame.
Warzone turned me into an alcoholic on discord every night. this game sobered me up but turned me into an insomniac who is no longer able to go to sleep at a decent hour.
Got the game today after watching this and literally been on it all day, had to come back to say how amazing it is 🔥🔥🔥
I'm downloading it now
The art style is very reminiscent of "BATTLE CHASERS:NIGHT WAR"
Naw, if it was BattleChasers it would need MOAR SHOULDERPADS!!!!
Seems they've added more since my early access completions. Back I go
This game just straight up deserves goty, supergiant deserves it.
I'm telling you, it will end up being better than Cyberpunk.

one of the best rogue-like game.
Art, Game play, Story, Music, voice over
everything is awesome,
10/10
One of my top favorite indie studios! Just bought it!
azure dreams was one of the first rogue like dating sims.
I love roguelike games! Gonna pick this one up for sure.
Bhavin Bopanna it is a perfect game
It is SO wonderful
This is in my opinion the golden standard for roguelites. If you are new to the genre or a fan you NEED to play this game.
This looks a lot like Bastion and Transistor. Same studio?
yes
Yes
Supergiant Games has done it again.
lmgtfy
Yup. Do not sleep on Pyre, it's my favorite of the 3. Hope Hades comes to consoles soon.
It's hilarious that 90% of the people in the comment section talking about how bad this game looks are Horizon Forbidden West players (according to their own uploads). Comparing an AAA game made by almost 400 employees with a 100 million dollar budget to an indie game made by a dozen people is just sad.
My buddy got me this for my birthday yesterday and boy is this game fun
How the hell nobody has bought this studio yet is beyond me! Wait....I should make a video about that!!!!!
The Overwhelming quality of games that are coming out of the Indie scene is beyond incredible. Ori ,Hades , Spelunky , Binding of Isacc , Furi , spiritfarer, Overcooked , Shovel knight to name a few.... What an amazing time to be a gamer
Hollow Knight.

Has literally nothing bad to say, gives 9 anyway.
And doesn't mention the amazing soundtrack
I feel like a 9 is basically a 10, 10/10 means it was perfect perfect
I can’t get enough of this game. I love it so much.
Great review, gave the video a like.
Just a point of criticism. You gave the game a 9 but didnt point out some flaws. If i were to go by what you said in the review, I heard a 10. Great gameplay, pushes the rougelike genre, made dying interesting, and rich story. Sounds like a masterpiece to me.
who cares? if you think it is a 10, then why even bother watching the review and caring what ign scores?
@@nickp.4419 Because you love the game and want more people to experiance it. Infuencers and reviewers hold a lot of power and a 10 is a big deal compared to a more cpmmon 9.
Can confirm, absolutely addicting.
Zagreus: Daddy!
Hades: Yes?
Thanathos: Yes?
Hades:... excus-
I'm very disappointed it didn't get a 10, specially since (I know the game is not perfect but still) not one fault was pointed out
Just a rule of thumb, don't trust ign scores
Thought the same thing, the reviewer doesn't bring up any flaw and yet the game its not a perfect score
@@ramonmartinez5733 mhm ign is a company and they wouldn't want public backlash just because their opinion was different
How’s the in-game music?
I've been playing this game for almost a year now and I gotta say that if not for Animal Crossing and the global circumstances, this game is my GOTY. Supergiant really nailed this one. There isn't anything wrong with the game in my 50+ hours of playing. I'll probably just wipe my file and start over since the game is in 1.0 release and there is SO MUCH MORE to discover now.
This game really makes you FEEL... like Batman. It's got a little something... for everyone.
funny dunkey inside joke that's been made a million times also used out of context. gold
Been waiting on this game for a loooong time! Happy to dust off my Switch LOL
This is one of the best games I'm played. Endless replayability fo'sho
You say Supergiant Games, I buy
I am simple
Wow this game is epic , what make this game so unique is the fact that they manage to bring merit to characters just by taking even though there are no single cut scene ...
This game is amazing and has no flaws
9/10-IGN
No game has no flaws.
@@underwood9584 It’d be cool if they at least discussed some of those flaws. The entire review seems like a build up for a 10/10, which no game truly is.
Great review. Looking forward to playing this. Thanks
This is a very well done review!
Honestly supergiant games keep putting up high quality games. Hades is awesome and transistor was an amazing game. And the music in both games are awesome. Plus the voice acting is nice no two characters sound the same
Man litterally acknowledges Sisyphus pushes the bolder up the hill, but then calls the task Herculean....lol
Under 10 minutes, smooth editing that actually matches the narration, only a few seconds used on the "Like and Subscribe," thoughts that flow together nicely. This is how to review a game, unlike many small-time lazy entitled UA-camrs.
While this looks to be a great indie game I still don't get how it won the award for the best action game
because it's a great action game, that's this simple.
Great Job on the Nick Limon!!!
"This game is truly a masterpiece"
-Gives it a 9
The game is a 11/10.
Even if it's not your type of game, you will find something to fall in love with.
J K how’s the in-game music?
9 but no flaws mentioned ?
That's not how it works
If a game is not 10 it is because it has some flaws
