Custom Inner Workings Cut Away Zippo Display.

This video I show my latest art project, lol. Made a custom Inner Workings Zippo display piece for my collection using a cheaper Walmart Zippo.

Thank you very much. I had seen a couple on some Facebook groups I belong to and thought they had looked cool, so thought that I could make one as well. There are some areas where it could've better, yet I'm happy with it. Makes a pretty nice display piece.🙂

I want to make one now, sorry what did you use for the cut away? Is that a piece of clear plastic or glass?

Thank you. The cut away parts are open without any covering. The box has glass front, so just went with that. I used a cutting wheel on a rotary tool to cut it all open and then used hand files to smooth down the cuts a bit. Used a small sanding drum for the rotary tool for the flint tube part.

I'm conflicted. It looks so cool. But at the same time, it creeps me out a little because I'm looking inside something I don't normally see. I don't know why, because it's just parts that I already know are there. It feels almost like watching surgery on TV and I have to look away because I don't want to see all the guts and stuff. Maybe I just have some unresolved trauma from dissecting the frog in biology class.

It felt weird cutting into it, actually. You had to dissect frogs? When I was in school, we had to dissect pig fetuses.

You may have to do like I did and make one. I had been thinking about making one ever since I had seen a couple other customs like it on Facebook groups. I do not know of anyone who actually makes them in order to sell them.
