My last 2 ships were Gators; USS Whidbey Island LSD 41 1993-96 and USS Wasp LHD 1 2000-03. Took an LCAC ride on the way back from my last Mediterranean deployment in 2002.
its actually a good idea. now that marines are now refocusing on amphibious assaults rather than guerrilla wars in Afghanistan, tanks aren't really useful since they are slow and hard to maintain in a naval assault, while IFVs and MRAPs are better suited to be quicker and easier to maintain plus, im pretty sure they gave most of them to the army, so they can use em i guess
Really slow landing. Why must they wait for all the helicopters to touch down before marines can run out? A full 30 seconds passed before marines came out. Super slow. Also an A10 was flying around doing nothing. It could have at least been strafing some ground targets. Then the marines came running out in a straight line not doing much. They could be seeking cover and shooting some ground targets too. Hardly a "raid".
Wow, beautiful training day!!
MY UNCLE TOMMY MEDINA WAS A NAVY MAN
