I had the privilege of mixing their live shows for about 12 years from '86 to '98. I really wish they would have include this song while I was with them.
Wonderful! One of my all time favourite Musical songs from the Moody Blues composed at a time when few knew of the dreadful situations we would face and how we might avert disaster. Brilliant song from John.
Moodies have been a huge part of my life for decades...each song has a soul!! They are truly deserving of a Universe all their own!! Such insight, gifted vocals, musicians, and so very dedicated to their craft and fans!! Love you All forever and I thank YOU!!!! xxx
Fantastic music. This is a classic example of MB beautiful creative genius. They were unique for their creativity and the beautiful music they created. The music is timeless.
Timeless songs! Moody's are the best by far. No comparison. Their music "sends you" places, places of mystery and wonder and even truth. They probe deep into the soul not just the head. I have been listening since 74 Im 65 now...never get old. Something so deep about their music and soothing and yet inspiring. None better!
S a d we don't have song writers like this in our songs today. One if my favorites. I remember looking out of my window as a child as the world passed by.
@@thomasgahler4887 I was lucky enough and old enough (lol) to see them do OMTL live in concert in 1972, I beLieve. Just the five of them. Great show. Pinder’s mellotron was breathtaking.
Wow - Outstanding job. This could be a very difficult song to harmonize the right way, but they all hit it spot on. Always one of my favorites from the Core 7 Days, and extremely timely in today's world.
Avreed. Nkrda is a trained and lrkfesdional musician( flutist) and play in an orchestra. Ir's just that MB wanted her for her talents, akin to ray thomas, not bcos shes a lady. And as justin said, " must also look like a rockstar" . Bdw, ian anderson applied. He has always wanted to play that part in Nights white satin😊
Some days ago I made a comment about the fantastic talent of Justin-John-Ray-Mike & Graham' songwriting , their chords, musical harmonies etc. This song is another chilling example to prove it!
Outstanding song. I just played EGBDF on the turntable, so I had to watch this video again. My first Moody Blues LP was Seventh Sojourn, and the first concert was on the Octave tour. I'm sorry that I was too late to see Mike Pinder in the group. Can't believe that Seventh Sojourn was released 50 years ago.
Likewise Charles! My cousin played "Isn't Life Strange" every morning on his stereo system and of course I became a Moody Blues fan for life!!! My favorite song off of SS was M. Pinder's "When You're a Free Man", then buying all the other previous albums it was like X-mas morning with with each album. Saw them during the Octave tour for the first time in Madison, WI. I was a college student back when j. Wayne's 'War of the Worlds' double album came out and I could not afford it, but the Universe had my back and for some crazy reason I woke up in the middle of the night, turned on the radio just as the night jockey finished saying: "and in its entirety here is J. Wayne's 'War of the Worlds' so I got to hear "Forever Autumn"...
This is first Moody Blues album I owned. My Mom bought it for me in 1971. Changed my whole perspective of rock and roll. I've seen them 7 times, from 1974 - Seventh Sojourn tour at the LA Forum, to 2009 at the Dodge Theater in Phoenix. Never seen them play this live. But I did get to see them play It's Up to You once at the LA Forum around 1983.
With the female addition to the song it is definitely a different sound and some fans may like it, but I for one do Not like it at all. I prefer to hear the original voices of the artists singing the song. When I pay to go see a concert I want to hear the song in its best original form with the original artists voices and version as much as possible. Just my own .02
@@MarkSperlik I saw Justin Hayward the other night, with three (very talented) impostors joining him on the Moody Blues songs. But that's the best we've got. I'll be seeing John Lodge next week.
@@iwanttobelieve9086 I’m a woman and I don’t think the Moodies have needed anything other than what they’ve had. Their wonderful voices. Ray has died but he was the only flute player they needed. The lady is very good but not any better than Ray was.
This is definitely John Lodge's best song and the recording is much better than the original track way back when. I don't mind that it was remastered. My compliments also to Julie Ragins for her excellent vocal work on this beautiful song.
Like the first light of dawn, this music opens your eyes to new promises and to all the wonders of nature. Evocative of powers beyond observation, these pieces pull the strings of the heart, attract nostalgia and awaken the loves, the skinned lives and torpor of the sleeping watchmen
This must be a very difficult song to perform live with two vocal strains at the same time. Well done as always. Must admit I've had a crush on Julie for years. Still great to see her live with Justin's solo show.
The magic sound of Mike Pinder is missing in this cut... but they pull it off with the girls fabulous psychedelic harmonies.. this track is two fabulous songs mended with perfection
And the two who learned the secret now are one both felt something from a distance never having touched or gazed into each other now together in every universe ✨️ 💛
This is such a beauty. Shows off John's writing, and Norda was so lovely on flute. She is their best, after Ray passed. More depth, more artistry is Norda.
Has there ever been a more meaningful song, with more deeply meaningful lyrics ever written? This song is more relevant today than ever... "He who wants to fight begins the end of time... One more tree will fall, how strong the growing vine... Turn the earth to sand, and still commit no crime... How one thought will live, provide the others die..." Think about those lyrics, in light of today divisive politics, with a party in power, that fosters hate, bigotry, narrow mindedness, ignorance, and intolerance at every turn...
It was sad to see the group gradually change and splinter off. Now it's only John and Justin left, and doing their own touring. Mike is doing his own thing. It was nice to see them together, while Graeme was still around, at the RRHOF. They seemed to be having a good time, with the guys and their families all getting together and socializing for a few days. Catching up on lost time.

John has created so many meaningful musical gifts - this was the one that hooked me long ago. A masterpiece.
this is Amazing
I've never heard this live. I love it.
Check out the Moody Blues Live in Japan in 1974. Not only do they do this live, but its with Pinder.
Thomas Gahler And as a switch, Justin covers the lower registers of the vocals. At least it sounds like it.

Norda Mullen does justice to Ray's flute part.
Ray pretty much gave his blessings. He and Norda were good friends.
Then throws it all away when she starts goofing with Graeme 😑😖
