Eating sleep for dinner hit different
😂😭🤣😭😂😭🤣😭😂
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
BIG facts! 😂
lol,I did not do it, and zI got the wose headache ever, just feel free to feel sorry for me too😅
Man…
Envy said I ate Kraft 😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂
He’s a damn clown😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Man i was so traumatized with my child hood struggle meals that now i have make sure i eat good everyday even though I’m still broke
One hundred percent with you. I'm still need with some of that stuff occasionally just like hot dog and beans, buttered noodles, cinnamon toast, sardines and all that lol
The meal I struggled with the most was those got damn Kid Cuisine. The brownie always got stuck to the tray and I would have to scoop it out with a finger.
Y'all gotta stop letting social media have y'all thinking everything is "traumatizing" good lord lol 🤣🤣.
However I feel you I definitely eat good everyday cuz I remember those days lol
i still dont know what salisbury steak is made from..
My mom taught me to make biscuits from scratch. I used to make them when we had nothing else in the fridge.
Vienna sausage, Cup Of Noodles. Canned Corn Beef .
Libby’s or Grace brand corn beef only, mixed in with white rice with some onions and peppers. I’m still eating it to this day. Sad enough vienna sausages and canned corn beef are expensive now. No more 4-for-$1 sales for the products
Libby’s of course ; if on sale
I grew up in the 70's and 80's in New York on Kellogs cornflakes with bananas, Cheerios, juicy juice brand juice, milk, macaroni elbows, spaghetti noodles, flour, sugar, apple sauce, peanut butter, butter, cheese, eggs, bread, rice, dried beans and peas, corn beef, bologna, hot dogs, corn beef hash, tuna, canned vegetables, etc.
We got it from wic and the different church pantries. I didn't even realize we were poor until I got older.
There were so many food programs to gather food from, so we ate every night and my mom kept our home clean. God kept us over the years and I'm so grateful.🙏🏾💯❤️
❤Amen
You ate good. I can remember my parents did not have any money for milk but they had lots of Similac for my sisters. So that was the milk I had with Fruity Pebbles. Guess what cereal I refuse to eat today. I can taste it just thinking about it.😭😭🤢

"No I had kraft"
😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂
My momma used to pray over our belly in hopes that god would make it full. Y’all just gave me flashbacks
Omg 😂😂😂
😂🤦🏽♀️
damn bruh......
I hope you’re trolling… this is sad. I’m a mother I cannot imagine how terrible your mother felt not being able to feed you
@@rosario_len lol, no I’m not trolling, at all. A good ole belly prayer is what we had for dinner a lot of nights. One night our lights had got cut off and I crept out of my room after one of those prayer dinners because I heard weird noises, and it was my mother at the kitchen table crying her eyes out. Which eventually made me start crying. She doesn’t know that story because I didn’t let her know I was there. But we’re good now. Really good. My brother graduated college with his MBA. He’s an accountant. And he’s heavy into real-estate And I’m a fleet owner. I currently own 5 semi trucks and 8 trailers. We bought our mom a home in 2019.
Periodically opening an empty fridge in hopes that something will magically appear 😂
Having a fridge back in the village was in itself a luxury... levels to these struggles.
@@nzisawambua4141
I can't even imagine
😂😂
ahhhhhh College.....and now for me Im not gonna like being poor fucking sucks X'D
Aww that sad 🥺😢
it's funny how some of our struggle meals are others delicacy.
It’s Jess eating good during this segment for me lmao
All my struggle meals
•Mayonnaise sandwich
•school sandwich stole from the cafeteria.
•sleep
•air
Jess eating while they talking about food shortages in low income communities and affordable meal priceless 😅😂
I'm over here dying
I cringed too but she’s pregnant so we can give her a pass
Lol
The CEO of Kelloggs should donate that cereal to the poor families. We didn't get cereal unless my mom got WIC😂😂❤❤
Does kix ring a 🔔
donate money so people can buy food that we eat for dinner
@@UrHeroSupaTim Word, because cold cereal isn't filling. At least oatmeal and grits stick to your ribs longer.
Pork and beans and hotdogs.
Raviolis.
Spaghetti with no meatballs.
Ramen noodles.
Peanut butter and jelly.
Apple sauce.
Peanut butter and celery.
Peanut butter on a spoon.
Egg salad sandwich.
💯
you just described all of my dads current meals lmfao
I'll fight someone right now for some Franks and Beans!!!!
Syrup sandwiches. Two pieces of white bread with syrup in the middle. The struggle was real.
King syrup or Pot R ick? 🫣😔
Definitely did that & some ketchup sandwiches.
Old school syrup and add sugar with it. Didn't taste right without the sugar.
@@dimejerryketchup and mustard sandwiches 🔥
Thats exactly what I was finna say. With some sugar water
I didn't struggle as a kid. I struggled as an adult. I didn't have my first struggle meal till I was about 24 or 25 and it was some rice jumbo stuff I threw together. I had left over packets of cheese powder from boxes of macaroni and cheese cause I hated powder cheese, some cans of ground turkey (I don't know where it came from) and and some peas. I threw that together. My kids thought I was a damn chef they loved it. I don't even think till this day they knew we was struggling. Cause they kept asking me to make that stuff but I had forgot exactly how I did it so it didn't come out the same the second time.
Im from the ghetto homie, I was raised on bread and baloney!
My mama kept a bag of potatoes lol. Fries, hash browns, baked potatoes with butter salt n pepper only, and more fries (cut a different way)😂😂😂
Potato with onions & peppers.
Envy was right though a box of cereal is atleast 3 dollars and for 5 dollars you can get a 24 pack of noodles
He only right if you think about not being poor right. Cuz if you was poor’in right you’d get the 5 pack of noodles for $1. We goin to the dollar store baby
Struggle food is plain light bread or banana sandwiches with mayo😂😂
Uuugh... that shit sound nasty, syrup sandwiches were the shit or fried bologna sandwiches with mustard no cheese. I still eat them from time to time with mayo and a bag of lays, my sister makes WAY more than me and eats it ALLLL the time. Lol
🤢
Weekend content is genius because nothing comes out on weekends and it keeps them on your mind when that damn Monday hit❤
When we ran out of Pop Tarts, grandma made us sugar toast with warm apple sauce for breakfast. It was DELICIOUS 😋
Struggle Foods:
Sugar water
Peanut butter and syrup sandwiches
Spiced ham and cheese sandwiches
Ramen noodles
Powdered eggs
Powdered milk
Pancakes and jelly
Turkey legs, white rice
Gravy on the turkey wings
Rice a roni and generic Tuna helper

Syrup Sandwiches
Cereal with canned milk, powdered milk or water
Cinnamon Toast (Butter the bread, sprinkle sugar and cinnamon on the bread and place in the oven)
The real struggle 🦾
I still do the Cinnamon toast
@@truryderz82 ate it so much as a kid I haven’t tried it in decades 😂
Sometimes Cinnamon Toast was my dessert. I never considered it a “struggle meal.”
Frozen shrimp with stir fried onions, frozen broccoli and ramen noodles. We called it ghetto Lo mein. I still eat this with my family. Sometimes we make it with ground beef.
Rice and scrambled eggs was my struggle meal and I love it !!
One of my favorite meals, I'd take it over meals that I've spent a bill on
@@Young_Savage_904 that part
Yessssssss
Spam with Kraft mac and cheese. Slice of bread with cheese for a snack. Or peanut butter
i ❤ spam and kraft mac n cheese. yummy 🤰🏾🤰🏾🤰🏾
Still eat that today.
Spam is so good! I still eat that with rice and eggs 😌
“Naw I had Kraft” 😂😂😂😂
My struggle meal as a Nigerian which everyone probably knows is garri 😂😂 Simple recipe. Add garri. Add water. Drain the water. Add water again. Let it rise. Add sugar. Add groundnuts if you're a big man. Add milk if you're a really big man. That thing is like cement 😂 You won't be hungry an entire day. Be careful not to eat it too much though cause you may go blind.
yep!!!!
Lmao I still eat beans and garri till this day. Always had to be careful of the rocks and sand tho lol. Blessings to you!
Milk in garri?! It ain’t ogi
eggs n bread with ovaltine for breakfast
My favorite struggle meal was cooking a can of tuna fish and putting it over top of rice. Shit used to go hard…especially when we had lemon pepper seasoning lol
Fried baloney, syrup sandwiches, and hotdogs and pork n beans was my go to.
shit my dad STILL eats most of that lmfao
Fried baloney with mustard is pure fire!!!!
Sounds like my childhood right there!!
Growing up in the projects in Chicago back in the day our go to was syrup sandwiches Spam with rice & government grill cheese sandwiches 😂
Besides the syrup sandwiches that sounds bomb tho
Them syrup sandwiches with cold water use to hit
Chicken foot was dirt cheap and was considered a struggle meal when I was growing up; hated it. So was canned corn beef and grits, which I still eat to this day.
When times was tough, my Mama would go to the fish market and buy a bunch of Whiting and french fries. Whiting was dirt cheap back in the day, and you could get a lot of it for less than $10. I can't stand Whiting now, because we ate so much of it growing up.
Oooooouuuu CHILD! you hit a nerve with that one! SHAT! hahaha!
That's me and Red beans and rice.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
We use to eat syrup sandwiches & sometimes ketchup sandwiches
Ketchup sammiches are 🔥
And mayo sandwiches...
I forgot about the ketchup sandwiches!😂
Buttered rice. Spam and Mac and cheese. P&J sandwiches.
Mac and cheese with tuna or chopped hot dogs, white rice with a fried egg, white rice with a can of corn beef, just white rice, mayo and ketchup sandwiches, Ramen noodles with tuna, boiled egg and bread. And just like Ghostface, we shared the same spoon watching saturday cartoons 😂 we drank out of jelly jars and plastic fast food cups, washed and re-used paper plates and plastic utensils. I make good money now and still eat a struggle meal every now and then because I'll get a random craving for it.
Fried dumplings in Jamaica 🇯🇲 lmao
Sunny delight with cereal.
Doritos with ketchup.
Saltines with butter.
And free school lunches in the summer.
Saltines with butter still slaps tho
@@RobGradyVOFacts!!!!
Ramen noodles, tuna sandwich, hamburger helper
"I had Kraft Sir" ------ Envy 😂😂😂😂
King Vitamins cereal, Top Ramen noodles, and deli ham.
King Vitamins still good lol
King Vitamin cereal ,G.O.A.T teir # R.I.P😢
In the Philippines, we had rice with salt. If your neighbor cooked any meat, you ask them for the lard so you tasted the flavor of meat when you mix lard with the rice.
Envy grew up in Queens and his father was a police officer so he was def lower mid class at least, def not ‘poor’ or on public assistance
Moral of story (for me) -- The struggle is real and appreciate what you have. Sometimes the struggle meals fuels determination for economic success. For those who are fortunate, contribute your time, money or goods to your local foodbank/pantry to wipe out food insecurity. 🙏🏼
A good old "Miracle Whip" sandwich was Heaven for me growing up in Tennessee 😂😂😂😂
Man thiz show iz so much better with ur latest person joining the group… very smooth and fitz well with a lot of character and depth… great work guyz … symmetries and the meta iz good…
My granddad was a garbage truck man and he used to bring bread and cereal the grocery stores would throw out to the trash. He would take it bring it home to the house and we would eat the cereal. We called our cereal trashy tunes😬
Genuine Question, was that out of necessity? Or cause he didnt like wasting food?
@@RobGradyVO he didn’t like wasting food and we were broke
@@lcalmese1976 totally understandable
Bruh I’m so dead wit these comments I thought I struggled Naa some of y’all struggled fr 🤣🤣🤣
I love me some Jess she is just eating on the radio I love the rawness
Ramen is in the pantry til this day!
I just love the taste😂 But syrup sandwiches, tortillas and butter, and malt-omeal when ya didn’t have meat or anything else. Can’t forget about Sardines either😂
Plain bread with a hot dog or noddles

Shoot we went in the kitchen back in the day and put together a meal with whatever we had.
Absolutely
that government cheese don't melt 😂😂😂😂😂 big facts
Syrup sandwiches, peanut butter and jelly... the peanut butter with the Oil on top
Noodles, friend bologna sandwiches, Vienna sausages, corn beef, etc.
A fried bologna sandwich aint no struggle meal, its just good
Peanut butter and jelly was my go to and 30 years later it still is
Thankful for Charla for donating and sharing that for others to vs look down at or simply not care.
3:43 got me choking😂😂😂😂
I fell out laughing 🤣 😂 on the free cheese part!😭😭😭😭😭
I was a very young single mom working 3 jobs at one point. We often had canned green beans with a water biscuit. We weren't hungry, but we weren't full, either. 😆
Do people know that metal particles are in all Kellogg cereals! STOP FEEDING YOUR KIDS CEREAL!!!!
Please. Makes their stomachs stronger. That's how they get some iron 😂
Salmon Pattie’s, syrup sandwich’s tomato sandwich with salt pepper Mayo. Few of my favorite
3:43 ayooo must Spanish love put mayo on everything 😂😂😂
So nobody used to cut the spam and fry it, with mayo & mustard
All we ate was fried spam & eggs OK!! Fried spam was like a delicacy! I do not eat regular spam anymore but when I come across a can of TURKEY spam, it’s OVER😩🤣🤣😃

6:05 oommgg😂😂😂
I didn't eat no struggle meals as a kid but as an adult in college I remember raw onions and ketchup...
Jesus 🥲 that's hard
Lord have Mercy. Sounds rough.
Ah man this takes me back. Canned kidney beans was a big one. Also tons of ramen. So easy to make, cheap and actually filled you up if you cooked 3-4 packs at once.
Also remember Toaster bread with syrup, store brand cereal, evaporated milk.
Pork n beans and hot dogs still hit. Add some bell pepper and onions. That’s gourmet!!!
I was privileged enough to never have this problem growing up, but something about pork and beans as a kid AND as an adult, man…
People better understand the power of potatoes. Potatoes are cheap and gets you full. All you need is potatoes and water to survive.🤔🤦🏿♂️
My father always bought 50 pound bags of potatoes!😮….
50
If uou have O+ blood type potatoes are your enemy!! I hate that because I love potatoes 🤤
@@KenniBdoin2much😞😥
Cereal with water, bread with fake hot chocolate, fried bologna with the red string or butter with bread.
Late 80’s government cheese hit different.
Pb&j grilled cheese cereal top 3 for me
We were poor. No food stamps or WIC. We never ever had milk. Milk and cereal costs way more than noodles and bread. My favorite struggle meal was baloney and cheese (with sandwich spread, pickles, and onion if we were lucky enough to have it). I use to say it tastes like a mcdouble😂
Banana sandwich is my favorite to this day!
Sardines and pork & beans was the struggle meal as a 80’s baby in D.C lol
i messed w/ pork n beans heavy. red can, with the yellow logo.
@@thecunninlynguist Lol Respect. My Mom’s made like a tuna salad with it. We ate it on crackers lol
Pinto beans. Cost? 99 cent. Moms used to have them soaking on the stove and I had to turn the pot on when I got out of school. Looking back at it, pause, pause, she saved so much money doing that. We at those beans for 2 days
Jess do you have two platters... love this
We used to eat the hell out beans, navy beans, Lima beans, black beans, baked beans, black eyed peas. Rice and beans and oodles and noodles.
Chef boyardee LOL 😆.
😂 when we didn’t have any snacks I use to toast bread in the over and spread butter and sugar all over it. Best snack ever. Some people in my family use to drink sugar water 😂. I could never get with it. I would drink sugar milk though.
Fried balogna sandwiches
Fried bologna is just good!
corn flakes with a teaspoon of sugar and milk heated over the stove.
Chef Boadie, Spaghetti O's sometimes lol.
Egg noodles, butter, and garlic salt.
Or "poor man's meal" on special nights. Hamburger meat, rice, and gravy.
Buttered rice. Or P&J sandwich
Nice topic BC. I remember growing up eating lots of cornbread, rice and red beans.
Sometimes we would have beef or sausage or pork in the red beans (served as a seasoning) but otherwise, it was just the red beans alone,
seasoned and cooked for hours smelled the entire neighborhood up everyone around us, knew, we were cooking red beans, cua,
red beans has the same smell no matter how or where u cook it. WOW 🍲🍲
Oodles and noodles, Hotdogs and Pork a' beans 😅😂
