It's the closest thing to flying the full size Cub. I owned one for over 20 years and I would have to change my shorts after each flight. What a beauty even your Hanger 9 version.
Thank you for doing this review Brian . I have to say because the antiquity and the history of such a delightful airplane. The third airplane I ever flew what's a Sig j-3 cub. With a OS 35 on it. I had no bad experiences with that plane. I still have it as of today some 50 years plus I have to say it is probably my most favorite plane as flying very docile. Nothing flies as scale as a j-3 cub . I now have four j-3 Cubs 70-in and larger. Although I have a large variety of planes including some pattern planes and a few sport models. I still love to burn holes in the clouds even at 70 years old RC planes are in my blood . I have a feeling this I'll be will be around a long long time ❤️🙏😉👍
yes, and it's better in person. You gotta FEEL the DRUM tight covering film - it's near flawless. The only wrinkles came from where I over-tightened a screw here and there. What a plane!
Brain your area sure looks alot like Enumclaw Washington. Luv you and your camera persons videos, Because of you i am going to stretch out of just my rc crawler habbit and purchase a 1220 Ranger, I hope this does not get out of hand like the crawlers have, But who am i kidding here, This will probably take the addiction to a hole new level.......Keep making videos and i will keep watching, THUMBS UP brother.... Dan
Thanks! We're in Iowa, and never been to Enumclaw, Washington. I hope you'll enjoy the expansion into RC planes ;) It's such a fun experience, and not to take anything away from crawling, flying is just so immersive!
Great show Brian and Meagan. I will be getting this early next year and I'm over the moon that you got this so I can use your Unbox, Build, & Radio Setup. You are my Master Class in the RC world. Thank you both. 😀
Lovely model. I just picked up the TT SWS (building this holiday) which I prefer but I’m loving the availability of more quality balsa planes backed by a great company with spare parts and accessories. May steal your rudder/aileron mix 😊
Love the build and the flight but I am not ready to own a balsa plane yet. my skills need to improve before I do. Thanks for all the hard work and dedication to your fans and beyond.
Glad you're here with us, and glad you're considering it...and GLAD you're waiting, if you're not there yet. These planes are AMAZING, but if you're a few planes away still, keep moving through the ranks. You'll be amazed just how crazy good these planes can get...BUT the foamies are amazing too...they just won't have the luster of a Balsa Wood plane in 5-10 years. Also, keep in mind, these balsa wood planes are significantly more cash, so use you money and grab what's right for you now. I can say from experience, there will be tomorrow for another amazing offering; only get them PRIOR to being ready, if you want to make 100% certain you'll get a particular model.
Brian fantastic flying demo. You always can get the Clipped wing when it’s released. Camera Crew amazing video, making Brian look great. Jeff in LA USA
Thanks Jeff, we appreciate you watching! The Clipped wing will be super fun too! This thing looks so good, and it flies so similar to other J-3 Cubs we've flown before, but with it being HUGE and BEAUTIFUL, I was trying NOT to end our video in tears ;)
Just beautiful.. starting to really like the large planes and helicopters 🚁… lots starting to seem the yellow is the new cool color… love the videos as always…. 👍🏻🎄
She's gorgeous. I love the yellow color, and the sound. WOW, she's definitely a beautiful looking airplane. She flies so smooth looking. Thanks for sharing Brian. Happy holidays to you and your loved ones. 👍👍👍
That's a real beauty. Love that color. I'm stoked about you picking up the NX8 again. Knew I chose wisely, when I used the best website Links ever-BPRC- to buy my NX8. Anyway... Awesome sunrise maiden! Perfect weather for that plane. And that's pretty good flight time, considering your 4k's in 6s are in pretty rough shape. 👍
LOL - yeah, I'll let Nate take care of that - LOL ;) This plane is very pretty. I did kinda think the pilot was a bit bigger than might be exactly correct, but I think the Barbie doll would be a bit too small (Aren't Barbies 1/6th scale? Like BIG GI Joes?)
That thing is incredible...wow. Brian i want to fly this spring. I've never flown rc, but have had buggies and trucks. Is the fms 1220 ranger to much plane for an absolute green horn? Or will the sport cub s v2 be a better choice? I'm afraid the first time I crash the fms wings will break in 2....lol
Enjoyed the video once again Brian, thanks! You commented about wanting the external antenna that the AR 631 provides over the AR 630. Does the external antenna give you a farther range, or what is the advantage of that? I’m trying to figure out when I’m buying receivers if I should be getting the 631s or the 630s. Thanks
yeah, but the plane wouldn't have them in real life, most of the time. It's just a THING, I didn't want to leave it hanging out there...it's a LOT of plane, but if you want those things, the SWS Timber 2m would be amazing! bprc.me/Timber vs bprc.me/J3Cub
Not sure if counts, but Brian did fly a 3m FOX fromFMS. That a bit bigger. Although, he actually landed this. Can't really say that about the 3m FOX 😊 👍
Absolutely! We were going to use a 5000 is our CG felt off, but it was totally fine, so we didn't NEED to make the switch, but it can totally handle it.
I love this plane, looks even better when it's flown by someone who knows what he doing like Mr Phillips here!
It's the closest thing to flying the full size Cub. I owned one for over 20 years and I would have to change my shorts after each flight. What a beauty even your Hanger 9 version.
LOL you weren't kidding when I asked about this video yesterday afternoon!!!! 🍻
Thank you for doing this review Brian .

Love me some Yellow Plane!
Hanger 9 knocked that one out of the park.
I definitely agree with you Brian, she is gorgeous.

What a plane!
That must have been fun to fly. Hope you and your family have a big Christmas 🎄
It sure was, thanks, and likewise!!!

yes - FOR SURE. You'll love the SWS 2.0m Timber - it's an excellent plane!
Love the build and the flight but I am not ready to own a balsa plane yet. my skills need to improve before I do. Thanks for all the hard work and dedication to your fans and beyond.

This 4000mAh 6S 50C is pretty NEW. It's not one of my hand grenade ones ;)
The 5000mAh 6S 50C is next for this plane. I bet it'll work perfectly fine.
Awesome!!! plane nice flying 👍
Sols channel is just plane fun.
That thing is gorgeous.
You can def fit a Ken or Barbie doll inside there. Nice plane.

If your friend doesn’t fly in I will. I have a 1946 J3
Where are you located? Can you email us? BrianPhillipsRC@gmail.com (so your response won't be public)
Love to get this plane.
This plane is so good that even Brian can fly it smooth. 😁😁 JK Brian
It is a smooth flying plane! Love it
Wait no flaps?!?!
Or LEDs 😂

Is this the biggest plane you ever flew.

Do you think it would support a 6s 5000
Absolutely! We were going to use a 5000 is our CG felt off, but it was totally fine, so we didn't NEED to make the switch, but it can totally handle it.
Throttle cut on doesn’t count if your xmitter is hanging around your neck and can be easily bumped.
Flaps? on a J-3?, Nice looking ARF.
