Kvelertak is awesome live band. Saw them first time in Wacken Open Air 2011 (they kicked ass!) and next time was on Sweden Rock 2014 (Yes, the main stage was too big for them, even the showtime was 1400.. :D ). Well, I don't understand a word what they are singing about but I F'''ing like it!! :)
First album is about The Islandic viking sagas. Fits in since the Icelandic people are originally from Norway. Leif Eriksson is of half Rogaland county blood. Where Kvelertak is originally from.
Love how Maciek broke his string during the solo in Utrydd dei Svake... then put it in his fucking mouth and applauded the audience xD such a live band
moshpit at 1:59, at one festival they announced and warned several times over speakers before Kvelertaks concert that "remember moshpits are not allowed at this festival"... well, that backfired 💀
Probably one of the most unprofessional live bands I've ever seen. I was right at the foot of the stage and the frontman knocked a speaker into the crowd because he kept jumping on it. That may sound cool to you but that thing weighs about 60 lbs and could have seriously hurt someone. The band is just stupid. Then he jumped into the crowd to crowdsurf. The guy is a moron. They need to calm down and keep their show on the stage. Gojira was there too and they were a much more professional band... the crowd on the other hand was a mass of maniacs lol.
Read some good reviews in reputable metal mags, so I decided to check this out, and I really don't get the crazy hype over this band. The singer's voice sucks, the guitars are'nt heavy enough, the melodies can get pretty cheesy..and they are boring. Perhaps they are better on record...haha
No, this is pretty weak. There is that level of metal, supported by what used to be "reputable metal mags" and this is it. Revovlver, Kerrang!, etc, etc have been pretty bullshit mags focused on circulation versus music for years now. Which is fine, just don't expect any sure fire recommendations from them and expect Slipknot albums on the top album list of the year. Maybe it's not a horrible album, but it's never going to be one of the 50 or even 100 best. Also, online only metal magazines are probably pretty shitty too. As, blogs are usually full of shitty opinions that nobody else would be willing to print. This band now has me wondering, is Scandinavian Metal dead? There's been better stuff coming out of the Mediterranean and South America for years now anyways.
I actually think they're a very good band but I agree with you about the fact they got really overhyped. But I do recommend you listen to their records. I enjoyed them a lot. Also the singer is pretty bad here but when I saw them, his screams were monstrous so he probably just had an off-day.
heyitsbmf12, yeah most metal mags are shit, but this was in Decibel, which I consider to be the most reputable out there. You won't find any mention of Slipknot or that shit in there.lol
The "hype" would be - a band from Europe, singing in a Nordic language that Yanks don't understand, yet the band sell records overseas and have become quite big in short time. That, mixed with quite unique musical concept - mix of a lot of different music styles. Kvelertak is not a metal band or anything...they are...well...Kvelertak. Don't know what you consider 'cheezy' melodies? Perhaps those more Nordic folklore influenced ones? Dunno. As for guitars being 'too low'...it's probably the venue thing. Saw them in Stockholm 2 times at a bigger place - the sound was perfect both times - one could hear all 3 guitars, loud and clear, just perfect mix. I think their sound is too complicated and structured for bar stages. I think they sound best at real, smaller, venues.
Divine! This is my favorite new discovery!

Are you sure you went to the right show grandma?
Sounds like you should be sitting up in some box seats at a Tom Petty concert, not down in the pit at a metal show
Valificus 10.1/10 insult
Reading this comment left me completely covered in soy
