I've been a Sleep fan for many years. I've been a introvert a lot longer.. Down side of being anti social is missing shows like this and finding out about it a year later. Wore my Sleep shirt into the Green Halo dispensary here in Tucson and the guy asked if I saw them live. Not a single day goes by I don't wish I could go back in time. But hey, at least I missed it because I was dropped out of life with bong in hand. Finding out that I missed it through my weed shop made the news a little easier to bare. I named a new 12" TaG bong Dopesmoker 2015 in commemoration. Life sucks sometimes. All well.
After years of listening, I truly believe its very difficult to mix this band. regardless of recording or video quality, you just have to be there to hear and feel it. Al sound like Al, not sure why everyone hates on his voice. I dont think they or he are going for perfection at all! Riff and Trance. what you get is what you get.
I like Al's voice, and Pike's too... I like the band... mierda, I love this band! and I really think they had, or have, moments of perfection... It's hard to me to say it in english... I just think this is one of the most beautiful and amazing bands from the 90s
There's formidable voodoo going on here. Very few have it but Sleep is thankfully one of them. No other band could have come back after so long absent and be even more popular then their current projects.
This is one of the best videos on UA-cam. I've listened to this so many times. Thanks a lot from Sweden! Can't wait to see them again in three weeks here in Stockholm!
And whoever thinks this is Slow, Boring & Easy to play should start their own band and become the definition of a genre, like SLEEP. Or just learn to play these tunes...
I play music like this and you are right it is not easy cause of the slow tune of the guitare and bass. I what you talking. That's why they are a favorite band of mine. 😉🤘🤘🤘👺👺👺☠️☠️☠️
+Andrew Domonic fucking fantastic, blew me away. set list was similar to this. Al and Mike gave it their all. sheer volume and musicianship. not sure other details you need but I was stoned off my mind and it was a spiritual experience. i sure as hell dropped out of life and followed the smoke to the riff filled land et: bring ear plugs
Gandalf, Radagast and Sauroman are the three known wizards of middle earth. Matt and Al are bound to be the two blue wizards not named. They left to the east to form Sleep..
Aging is a bitch, sucks seeing people show signs of getting older whether it's loved ones/friends or people like musicians/artists/actors etc. Crazy to think it's not all that far away from being 30 years ago when Sleep was created and started recording/playing live.
Only way to really begin to comprehend the true nature of the crushing HEAVYNESS depicted herein is Live. SLEEP is waaay too Heavy for the digital domain!!!!
Please forgive me if I am betraying a sacred secret. But I can't be the only one who knows that nitrous oxide is the key to increasing the sensitivity to audio input.....
this video does not do the live set justice. his voice sounded like it was straight off the record, in person. it's a shame it sounds off like this. however, this still was one of the best shows I've been to and will be going for the full fest next year!
What do you mean? There is no rest of the band. Ever since their formation the band has only consisted of the vocalist/bassist, guitarist, and drummer. 3 people. Nobody is missing
Al Cisneros and Matt Pike are clearly wizards.
At first I was like, "Oh, Matt looks good with a mustache."
Then Al appears on screen and my jaw fucking dropped.
Al looks like Rick Rubin these days!
15:30
Al is lvl 420 at the dopethrone wizard lookalike game. All he needs now is a bong
it's in the backstage
Maybe he has to grow horns as well...
Neurosis, Sleep, Melvins and Saint Vitus all need to tour together and do a Shrinebuilder reunion.
That tour would be too fucking good
Whoa! Woke up 23 years later, Sleep was still playing! YES!

I take no credit
It's From Beyond before last Dopesmoker, not Antarcticans Thawed. But no sweat, very similar sounding I guess. Thanks for the playlist non the less
from beyond for lovercraft nerd...
Just saying that the Fact that Dragonaut is in 40:20 time, is just amazing!

Hi New of sleep here , fist and last music call dopesmoker?
I cannot get over how gorgeous Al's beard is
He looks like Jesus
+Stoner Doom Sleep Actually, Jesus looks like Al
+Jacob Miller True
+Reggie-a and Matts mutton chops moustache combo
+Jacob Cousins Its the "Hetfield" Thought it looks a bit more like Lemmy Kilmister...
It just makes me so happy to see Sleep! Matt Pike & Al Cisneros are my favorite guitarist and bassist respectively.

Loudest concert that I have ever been to! My ears were killer the next day
+Steven Montano Totally. It was brutal.
Yep, I saw them in a small club in Manchester, UK a few years ago. No PA. Just amps. The only band that was louder for me was Motorhead.
@@ejl1000they need to come back
Yes
Loudest I ever saw was The Melvins and Sleep in 2nd place
Al has seriously lost weight. This is fucking killer.
+TheThejudge Yeah! He looks great!
Franomoly
Al is the singer/bassist in Sleep. You're thinking of Matt Pike the guitarist who's also in High On Fire.
A New Horizon I had a serious brain fart there lol.
Franomoly
Haha! That's okay. :)
+TheThejudge …while Matt seriously gained weight...

duh! look at that wall behind them, its very much about stage volume. the live experience was penetrating.
I like Al's voice, and Pike's too... I like the band... mierda, I love this band! and I really think they had, or have, moments of perfection... It's hard to me to say it in english... I just think this is one of the most beautiful and amazing bands from the 90s
I like Al's voice, actually.
I love al's voice, fits the music extremely well.
If that's Al singing on the early records, then his voice has definitely improved. I don't mind it at all.
In 2012 I experienced Sleep live in Athens.Their heaviness raped my ears.Weeds to them!
I was there! Can’t believe this was 7 years ago. No dummy cabs at all, and 1:59 proves that.
There's formidable voodoo going on here. Very few have it but Sleep is thankfully one of them. No other band could have come back after so long absent and be even more popular then their current projects.
I skipped 4th of July to watch this on UA-cam, no regrets
reminds me of really heavy black Sabbath guitar riffs but not the band's entire sound but new to sleep
Roeder is on point.
+Austin Howe he's rediculous
Holy shit 1:06:13 ish Al's bass makes a sexy noise that almost sounds like an Upright Bass.
Oh, they did the radio edit of Dopeamoker.
Bass needs to be louder!
This is one of the best videos on UA-cam. I've listened to this so many times. Thanks a lot from Sweden! Can't wait to see them again in three weeks here in Stockholm!
3:12 God damn, that drum roll
Fr
Just saw them two nights in a row in Chicago. So massive. It was beautiful.
And not a single amp had to be mic'd that day
+Joseph Kennedy and some are, too, Crazyness
I'm seeing them next Saturday in Portland! I'M PUMPED!!!!!
This was fuckin excellent to watch, I'm going to have to find a way to see them live, experience this live...
ahhhhh just 21 minutes of pure gold Dopesmoker? GIVE US MORE OF DAT
I can't wait to see Sleep next month opening for Neurosis in SF!
OPENING???? Should be the other way round
@@bobsbigboy_ Haha probably would be now but it was a hell of a show!

Drop Out Of Life With Bong in Hand! so epic to open and close with dopesmoker! what an awesome show!
Finally some pro-shit!
Amazing quality, killer show.
Cisneros looks tight as fuck! Great job losing weight dude!
Listen in 0.5 speed with maximum volume for maximum highness !
I was thinking “oh, I thought this would be louder?”
Then at 1:58 I was like
OH SHIT-
🤣🤣
Watch that MAJESTIC Beer Gut of his slowly increase as the Riffs Unfolds !
For me this is your best vid yet.......AWESOME!!
17 people did not follow the smoke toward the riff filled land.
And whoever thinks this is Slow, Boring & Easy to play should start their own band and become the definition of a genre, like SLEEP. Or just learn to play these tunes...
It's the feeling you get when you do a good hit, and turn your amp all the way up. They have captured it and are delivering the pure product.
Fucking goddamn right
@@danmage2802 it's an immense rush.

Yeeeaah! This is the massive wall of sleep sound. Monster tone
Commenting because I leave for the concert tonight, updates will be giving

Joe Dresden Right on man.
i wish they caught more of Jason Roeder's drumming. it seemed to always catch him after he did something cool lol

Each bong rip is smoother than the last
Gandalf, Radagast and Sauroman are the three known wizards of middle earth. Matt and Al are bound to be the two blue wizards not named. They left to the east to form Sleep..

I was there....awesome fucking show !
SLEEP!!!!!!
wow, these guys look alot different than they did on those muddy pictures from "Holy Mountain "from 20+years ago. Ha .

Great video but you can't hear the bass at all.
+Saicomantis I can hear it just fine, you need a sub
+finalfate62 I've got one but it's still pretty buried underneath everything else :/
Same here. I've got subs and the bass turned really high, and it still seems a bit softer than what it should be.
+Saicomantis It's a video lol
+Gore Elohim Yeah, what do people expect?!? It's not a live show 50 feet in front of Marshall stacks.
ayyyyy i just became the 5000th sub!
Now I know where to go if I wanna go to Sleep.
Makes my hair stand on end
hail the riffs
1:58 o.O
Pike lighting up his other stacks. That sounded amazing in person
In general just gotta say, 4.5 full stacks each is perfect 🎉
1.5 hours of bliss
GOT STACKS?
Jesus christ.. What pedals does Matt use to get it to sound like every note is a lightning strike?? I need that in my life immediately.
I didn't know they were still together. anyone know what tuning Dopesmoker is in
+Chris Dreisbach C standard
heavy af. think i gained a few kg's as listened to this.

massive!
Mat got his Les Paul back?
He's had a few
SLEEEPPPPPP ❤
i kinda miss hakius... he grooved the tits out of dopesmoker
The guitar sounds like it was added in post :/ And you can't really hear Al's bass at all... Drums sounds fucking great though!
UA-cam sound. Why even talk about it.
Not enough stacks
Sleep is releasing a new album... Well looks like all other doom bands are fucked.
Where did this info come from?????
+SuperExio Look up Al Cisneros talking about it
+Stoner Doom Sleep I DEMAND A SOURCE ON THIS ONE.
Its out now 2 years later
Did Matt get his stolen Les Paul back?
I never knew Charles Manson was the bassist and vocalist for Sleep.
I'm starting to think Matt Pike will be the next Lemmy. he already got the look down.
so it is right
Is this in Tucson?
it is *CRIMINAL* how low the bass in the mix is here
Wales?
it's like they're jousting with guitars
