“feels like someone else’s memories” That’s so heartbreaking to hear. This era means a lot to me & it put Danny and the band where they are today. They don’t have to keep making this type of music but I wish they would at least look back on it positively.
Exactly. That actually hurt to hear. Basically it's Danny saying that those days are dead forever. I actually miss those days. They put out arguably 2 of the best metalcore albums of all time. Such a shame
This is truly Heartbreaking... They shouldn't do this with those albums that make them who they are
@@Amazing_Universe-o5x when I look back 10 years ago, it feels like a lifetime ago and my life was completely different. I was young, stupid and partying a LOT. Looking back does feel like a different person and life
But he said on the earlier video, "We can celebrate this (old AA) but not the way we replicate it."
You’re all so upset because this man doesn’t associate his current self with his past self? Jesus christ get a grip; what about when something seriously bad happens how will you cope if you get all in your feelings about this.
“That kids metabolism was so good”… - Danny
Comment about Sam's 5 string was better tho man lol
For everyone wishing Danny would look back on early AA with a fondness, you gotta look at it from his perspective. He’s watching himself destroy his vocal chords screaming without proper technique and then (if he can even remember) topping off shredded vocal chords with alcohol and copious amounts of drugs. I don’t think any mature human being would look back on that like _”yeah, that was a great time”_
Back then he actually cared about performing. He moved around the stage and sing almost every lyrics in the correct way. Miss the old AA for sure
Spot on, i saw them about 8 years ago and he stood at the mic stand the whole time and maybe sang half the lyrics. Very little screaming. Very disappointing
"Back then he actually cared about performing"
And was addicted to alcohol and hard drugs. Yikes.
@@donthasselthehoff5753he’s been on and off for a long time
asking alexandria is the only band ive witnessed their rise, drama, turbulence, rise again and their peaceful period in my whole entire live, what a ride these guys have
Makes me sad that Danny looks down on the early Asking. I had some of my best memories to Stand Up and Scream. It was the soundtrack to my youth. This is my fondest era.
Stand up and Scream will always be my favorite. Danny's voice was so fucking good in those days. Very happy for him these days though. Dudes an inspiration
Danny may not like the way band used to be but these were the best days of AA. I still listen to their metal ore daily and give their new stuff a chance but most of their new songs are 1 and done 😆
These were some of the absolute best nights of my life.
Im glad this popped up on my feed, dont know how.. i miss these days, good times
Thank you for uploading these vids of Danny commenting on their old videos. It sucks that they won't make heavy music anymore in terms of sound, but at the same time, we always have the classics. AA I feel were at their peak in sound from 09'-14'. Shocked still too that the same guy from these live vids is the same guy narrating them. Even how he talks is different.
Danny vc era incrível, apenas isso meu nobre.
1:38 "Oh, dear..." Lol. This is indeed a super blast from the past for him.
Wow Danny's vocals were spot on. Amazing
Well then i heard the singing toward the end hahaha.
Crazy how much I loved this band and album back in the day.
AA used to be my favorite band, but they aged so badly.
They dont need to stay the same forever, but at least respect who they were, and who we loved. Their new stuff are so empty.
You see bands like ADTR, FIR, BMTH, they really have changed but still goods.
Totally agreed with you
This is so true. I really (I swear) tried to listen to their new album, but it's just so bad and empty of everything
Tbh, none of those bands you listed are still good… ADTRs newest album is a train wreck, BMTH are meh, and FIR are also meh
Imagine thinking any of that shit is still good lmao.
@@c4gob00m FIR is better than ever, BFMV is still at the top of their craft. ppl shit on gravity but that album was dope. new album is a banger.
Danny saying Ben wrote the entire song, yet he said in countless interviews that they both wrote the song together.
He may have meant the album in those interviews. Most of the album was already written by Ben, but Danny co-wrote a good portion of it. For example, If You Can’t Ride Two Horses... was written entirely by Danny
@@hitthefieldpt good ol' dirty Dan the British cowboy man
Danny’s just a shitty person. I doubt he has much to do with anything and even if he did he probably would of blown it out of proportion
@@Aneveningwithpod Danny WAS a shitty person
@@joshuagassmann4053 what changed?
To the people commenting upset that Danny said it feels like someone else's memories. You all need to understand that the shit these guys went through Danny especially was life altering and dangerous. Again. Danny was doing more drugs in a week than most people see in a year. And the constant drinking. Honestly he probably doesn't remember half of it because he was fucked up all the time.
Be happy they're healthy and happy now.
Yes their music isn't the same
But be grateful they are still alive to make music.
not more than motley crue
They changed their sound completely from metalcore to rock. Might have changed their band name as well. But changing their band name would damage their popularity so they kept that? I'm happy that they're happy and married but their latest albums are so generic.
@@mehrank6880 Well their band is their brand. By changing the name, they risk losing a huge chunk of their earnings by totally alienating their revenue from older albums. It’s like a company with employees and shareholders.
@@mehrank6880 generic? The old albums sounds like all the generic heavy shit on internet, just enjoy it or stuck in the past
You just understand everything
My best memory seeing asking Alexandria was at warped tour in Virginia Beach, we were all standing waiting while they were setting up while pierce the veil was playing, and some dude yelled “hey wrong stage, asking Alexandria is playing right now on the other stage.” And I watched like more than half of the people leave and move to the other stage. It was funny af.
Poor Pierce the Veil(!
Reminds me of seeing PVRIS cover this song in highschool when they were still operation guillotine. Hearing Lynn G scream still gets me hahah
I’d kill to hear an album like R&R again I’ve been a fan since 2009🤍
Or SUaS
Makes me glad I was around to see AA and SS at their peaks. The Final Episode and Disengage are great metal songs. Metalcore/Deathcore 🔥🔥🔥
SS?
@@mcmuffin7941 Suicide silence, Mitch lucker was the 1st front man
:( i was like two weeks away from seeing SS for the first time and yeah :( rip mitch
@@amyad0rable me too, I watch suicide silence show back at 2016 , same old song different vocalist
A year later and I've been listening to The Black Crown all week 🤘 RIP Mitch
Danny is hilarious reacting to the choreography of them tiptoeing lmao
This literally makes me so sad… “Feels like someone else’s memories.” :(
When he says he wrote them at joeys, thats in my hometown of Connersville in a studio i have access to that still exists. I'd love to bring AA back and have some great times.
Powerful shit man, this sound definitely defined an era
So nostalgic man I had this album in sophomore year highschool crazy
Same
having not listened to them in 5 years it feels like i'm right on danny's page.
These songs and videos were what made me want to play music, wish it was the same time
“I can’t believe that was a thing” as soon as the running man starts lmao
danny if it matters my favorite live music memories are seeing AA in pittsburgh pa multiple times during stand up and scream 🤟🏻
This band helped me through life
From legends of a genre to dad rock. So sad to see
Could've been ruling like how BMTH is right now , i hope asking gets back to those levels too
believe me, this guy getting older and they'll never gonna back to their root, that golden era of AA is died out ,, rest in peace
So they grew up. Most of their audience grew with them. Hbu?
Wish the fans grew up instead of crying like they aren’t still putting out good music
@@Pryde_ That's the funny thing.
The aren't.
1:13 I believe what he meant to say was "the crab-choreography"
that synchronized run in place move they did was awesome and it still looks cool imo
I completely agree
Got to experience the best of both worlds live. Can't complain about either of them.
Bruh, this really take me to the good old days when i was a teen being happy with his music (2011)
I know Danny has lived in America for a long time now but it’s mental how much his accent has changed! I’ve been a fan since 2009 and followed his journey! But its still mental how when you aren’t around your own people how your accent changes! 😵
Always love to see artists make it, almost throw their lives away then come back ten years later to shit all over the work and people that made them who they are now.
Bro. I remember see you guys back in 2008 in the New Orleans area. Set looked just like this! Crazy to see how AA has changed over time.
man you're so lucky, I was way too young back then :(
I miss these old streams. Wish he would come back to twitch.
I had not heard of these reactions that Danny made
This is nostalgic AF, cheers mate 🍻
It’s sad that these days are over. AA will go down as one of the most legendary metal core bands ever.
“A five-string bass, playing one string… maybe two.” Lol
The fact that he did this , is like crazy . No artist of that era goes back to look at old videos of themselves when they started out , and Danny did that. Such nostalgia, what a time this was.
It's around 2010 2009
pay respects to club downunder lol the last club we got in tallahassee that actually books metal bands :/ I think I was actually at this show haha
they were so badass bro....
the way danny says choreography.. I havent heard his voice in maybe 10 years lol
i would love to see a performance like this again
AA ain’t the same anymore this is the REAL AA, they sold out big time honestly! It sucks to hear him basically say he doesn’t like this era, it’s funny because this AA was the most hyped and best compared to the new stuff!
I dont think they sold out, but just had some life changing experiences (probably some traumatic ones too) that alter the way they want to approach music. I mean, they were just kids in a scene about rebellion/partying/doing whatever the fuck you want. Shit was bound to blow up and I would guess Danny just doesn't want to even associate with that style anymore.
Just grow up, the people is changing and don’t stuck in the past, AA is a good band, even if they don’t play heavy shit again
@@LuisLechuga "good" is subjective. Talented? for sure, but people are allowed to hate on the sound.
I disagree and so does the market. They're bigger now and have more fans than they ever have.
@@LuisLechuga they have “evolved” to standard arena rock. their new stuff since the black has been pretty fucking boring besides the occasional solo. sure their new stuff does the job but it isn’t anything to get hyped about like their early work
Glad to see Danny doing well. But Ben always lead the band.
That "Gently" bit at the end was sick.
It's so weird to hear him losing his english accent since he's lived in the American south forever.
Heres the thing: rock n roll has always been about reckless abandon and thats a young persons game. Theres only a brief window, like GNR in 88 or Fleetwood Mac in 76. The drugs were an integral part of what made it great, but its a moment in time - something you cherish but you still need to make it to the other side. I wish the best for Danny. Reckless & Relentless will always have a place in the hearts of those that were there for the ride.
Rock n Roll? Are you 40?
Also, you don’t have to be on drugs to write heavy music. Just look at most of the bands making waves in Metalcore and Deathcore today, Motionless in White and Ice Nine Kills for example. I can guarantee that they’re not doing hard drugs, and their music is heavy as shit.
@@ryanbollinger1759
Some AA lyrics for you, bro:
Through sin and self destruction
I stumble home, never alone
My only home is the bottom of a bottle
And a rolled up bill and I'm ready to go
I live the same day in and out
And I don't care how long I last
All the girls and drink and drugs
But don't get me wrong
I'm having a fucking blast
I am rock and roll
Livin' the life you can only dream of
I am rock and roll
At it's fucking finest
I can agree cause I noticed. The belt was dope 🤘🏾
Man became real quiet and he first hear his scream . he doesn't talk about his vocals at all
I think danny is holding them back from big time albums. Even ben said in an interview that writing the black was alot less stressful and most of the songs was rewrote comepletly from what danny wanted cause they sent him heavy stuff and he told them its horrible and doesnt want to sing to it. But yet the black still out charts both AA albums since dannys return. Heavy is what AA is.
I completely agree. If he doesn't want to scream, then fine. But don't hold all the other band members back. M Shadows doesn't scream anymore, but that doesn't stop the rest of Avenged from shining.
The problem with THIS is not because it's heavy, it's because it's awful. The whole SUAS album is like all metalcore cliches combined in one record, such generic and unoriginal album. The rest AA albums are much, much better though (except for House on Fire, of course)
@@biggore8338 it’s hard to be generic when they’re one of the bands that started this type of metalcore
agreed
@@zannyreflections9651 started? SUAS came out in september 2009, 1 year after Attack Attack debut album, 2,5 years after Enter Shikari debut and 3 years after The Devil Wears Prada debut. There was nothing special in adding electronic parts to metalcore songs at that time already. Everyone did that, even before Asking Alexandria
5:30 Danny’s face realizing he was balding very early even at a young age at shows as old as this one. Lol
Just how it looks when you got lighter hair and dye it black, second roots come through look bald 😆

“5 string bass playing one string “ lmfaoo yooooo that’s hilarious
Danny rejects his past lol so sad
if you lived through it you might too
“Oh dear” 😂😂😂
I understand that they changed their genre and shit because Danny wanted a Change, but he can't deny that this was the best era of AA, and its sad to see that he basically shits on us ( fans of the old AA) just because we find these old songs better than the new ones. Afterall, if it wasn't for the old fans and these songs, they wouldn't be where they are today in terms of "Fame" and lifestyle. He should respect us more. I'd truly rather listen to the older albums for 24 hours straight than listen 1 minute of their new songs. It was my favorite band for years.
Also, you don't have to be drunk/high to write good songs and do metal, look at Trivium, As I lay Dying, etc... Getting older but their songs continue being amazing and they are trying to keep the genre alive while Danny has truly been disrespectful towards the genre.
Think you need to get a life and stop taking stupid things so personally . He doesn’t owe you anything. None of the band do
@@jb47391 I can make an opinion on whatever I want, Also, he owes people at least some respect, as I Said, he has the life he currently has because of the fans

As people grow, so do their attitude and general style. I love their old music but as they grown, so do their music. I love this video.
Edit: Seeing the comments to this video is just sad. A lot of people who haven't learn that not everything is meant to stay the same for like a decade. Boomers but for metalcore lol
If something isn't broken...why fix it?
@@thedarkroy1794 Because you don't like making the kind of metalcore sound anymor. Music isn't just about making music for others to enjoy, it's also about making music you can be proud of.
@@Dannysapphire Then they could create a side project and not destroy Asking Alexandria's Name. Danny already had We are harlots.
If a musician wants to do something different that could be a potential solution
@@thedarkroy1794 Why should the band make a new band title just for their new song? If it was solely Danny that wanted the change sure. But I have a very strong feeling the band as a whole agreed to this new direction.
Their only music still exists. Nothing is ruined. You're being overdramatic
I don't see why it's a problem. If someone simply doesn't like the new direction, it's okay to say they think this music was better. Criticizing the band and that is a stretch though, they don't require you to listen to it.
Damn bro !

@SumOfIt there’s plenty of bands that still make metalcore but have mature songwriting, it’s not just relegated to a year. They chose to completely flip their genre to dad rock, and it’s dull

Interesting insight for everyone who's saying he genuinely probably doesn't remember this... Motherfucker remembers where he bought the pants though lol he can't deny it how far he and the band fell as far as just badassness
Ben is such a damn good writer
The folks not getting what he meant by "feels like someone else's memories" comment obviously weren't a part of the scene back then. It was balls to the wall, all day long for years at a time for most of these bands. They lost their late teens and early twenties to a haze of sweaty clubs, hard drugs, and constant boozing. I remember talking to Mike after a The Devil Wears Prada set in Dallas in 2010 or 2011 and he said he'd gotten like a combined total of 10 hours of sleep in the last week, and they weren't even into the drug side of the scene like AA. I can only imagine the dissociation Danny and the others went through in that time period.
Reckless and relentless tells you all about it
1:16 do you want to call it "crabcore" ? 🤣🤣

Lmao he can remember where the pants are from but doesn’t remember that this is where they came from and this is what made them who they are
Hilarious that Danny had that belt that long, I literally just broke my belt I wore for 10 years last month. That belt has seen some shit and I'm sure so did Danny's 💀
I love Shake Junt! How is it that one of my favorite skateboarding brands is promoting AA??
