    The best era . It was kinda short but it’s special and it brings me back to high school every fuckin time I hear this shit. I remember when I first listened to that Stand up and Scream album I was UTTERLY MIND BLOWN. Immediately showed my good friend and we both fell in love lol. Goood times. Goood times.

    Danny wrong about the date of his own show this is Welcome to the Circus Tour which was 2010 not September 2009.

    Seeing Danny hate on the BEST music Asking Alexandria have made is destroying my love for the dude. Stand Up And Scream is one of the best metalcore albums ever made. Joey Sturgis’ producing was fucking perfect on this record

    Anyone complaining about how they don’t do heavy screaming obviously doesn’t know the history of this band. Ben did COUNTLESS interviews talking about how Danny struggles with screaming because he had surgery on his vocal cords in 2013. Yes they still do old songs but Danny uses back tracks to avoid destroying his voice again. His screams are much lighter in concert but the tracks make it seem louder. Yes they have done heavier stuff in newer albums but Ben said that Danny would have a hard time even talking after. Also if they put out another album about drugs, sex and alcohol it would make no sense because they might drink but not near as much. None of them do drugs at all. Everyone except Danny has kids so I don’t think they want to sing about hooking up with random girls anymore. They make the music they love and even though they are proud of their other albums, they don’t want to keep writing the same things. They evolved as a band and as people. Don’t like their new stuff, don’t listen to it. Simple as that.

    Holy shit I just realized I was at this show. Was the first time I ever heard of or saw them. Actually went to see Enter Shikari but AA was on before them. Was a fan ever since.

    He always claims he never knew how to scream properly but his vocals on stand up and scream are some of the best. I’d argue they were better than Oli in his prime.

    For everyone wishing Danny would look back on early AA with a fondness, you gotta look at it from his perspective. He’s watching himself destroy his vocal chords screaming without proper technique and then (if he can even remember) topping off shredded vocal chords with alcohol and copious amounts of drugs. I don’t think any mature human being would look back on that like _”yeah, that was a great time”_

  • @definitelynotgore
    @definitelynotgore Рік тому

    Wait why does he sound actually really good here? I thought he was infamous for being a shit live vocalist early on in his career? I know he had surgery due to poor technique later on just before he left AA, but idk I thought he would’ve sounded worse.

    Bro if you made this kind of music now, I would enjoy it even more because it's even more of a statement being a young adult. Bro grow your hair back out i think it's cool af like i just woke up one day and realize why do i have to change just because society is telling me to? If i have kids, I want them to be metalcore af just saying Bring this back 2024 !

    God, it may be more comfortable doing shows now with LEDs and A/C, but damn were those shows under par cans a true EXPERIENCE 😂 being in the crowd swell for three or four sets and leaving just absolutely SOAKED to your bones! Gawd damn I'll miss those days.

  • @Cavemanner

    The folks not getting what he meant by "feels like someone else's memories" comment obviously weren't a part of the scene back then. It was balls to the wall, all day long for years at a time for most of these bands. They lost their late teens and early twenties to a haze of sweaty clubs, hard drugs, and constant boozing. I remember talking to Mike after a The Devil Wears Prada set in Dallas in 2010 or 2011 and he said he'd gotten like a combined total of 10 hours of sleep in the last week, and they weren't even into the drug side of the scene like AA. I can only imagine the dissociation Danny and the others went through in that time period.

    I seen AA 7 times from 2007-2012, and those were the best concerts I’ve been too in my whole life. And I’ve been to hundreds if not thousands of shows, Danny back then was such a beast live, and the music reflected their energy and how raw they were. It’s so sad and depressing to see the direction AA has went since Danny left and came back, he may claim to be “better” vocally now, but I would have to disagree. Their music now is soulless, and so mediocre I can’t bare to listen to it. They are trying to be mainstream and be “hip” with what kids are listening to nowadays, but what they lack to realize is that their core audience are now adults, and a vast majority of us are still metal heads, and the music they put out now is a let down, we would rather listen to their old discography than anything they’ve put out in the pat 6-8 years. I understand some bands have switched their style, an example is BMTH, yes they’ve incorporated different styles over the years, but everything they put out had originality to it, it has the BMTH flare to it, and Oli has listened to what the fans want and has been putting out heavier music. AA claims their most recent tracks are “heavy” but they are basically spitting in the faces of their real fans that asked for old AA, maybe one day they’ll realize that if they keep going down this path they will lose their core audience. Rant over.
