- The Big Chute is an amazing piece of engineering that is a highlight of the Trent Severn Waterway! We were excited and a bit nervous to take our boat on it and poor Dianne did have a "near death" (according to her) experience but I think she might have gotten wet in the worst case! As it was she managed to jump to the rail and was fine. I could see she was loosing control and even told her to jump proving I care more for her than the boat! How many men can claim this? LOL!
What a great video buddy I've seen any number of these big chute videos but I do have to say yours is by far and away the best Dianne is a real trooper you two are a very well suited couple.
By the way a speedo is not your best look just sayin.
That was my underwear! Lol! PS I no longer have a best look, I'm going for "still around and doing stuff"! Thanks for watching Di get all stressed out! I told her to jump before she fell in, but as the boat blew around, it pulled my shoulder out as I was trying to keep the boat onto the wall! A memorable time! We both loved it! AllthebestRoy

hello Roy and Dianne i was wondering what does Dianne's Rose weigh? and what motor would be best for her weight if you wanted to go a bit faster than 6 knots ?

Empty she is 1500 lbs and 2000 lbs with motor, water, fuel and gear for extended trips. A 25 hp four stroke would put her on plane and still be good on fuel! Best/Roy

Could the hous boat be made wider so each side can have a walk way down it?

Many who have built the boat have changed it in one way or another. The boat is fairly easy to modify to your needs! Yes side decks could be one of the changes, With others who have changed the design, I've made a point of giving input. Best/Roy
Great series...love the boat. I also like that you can row it if necessary. Out of curiosity, how far can you go on a tank of gas? It seems the motor is going at a fast pace. How much fuel did you carry in reserve? Are you planning to mount solar panels on the cabin top?
Thanks for the good review. The oars are a great thing to have when the motor quits as it did when I sucked up some grass. and had to row out into deeper water. 6.3 Gal (25 Litres) will take us about 55 miles. We carry 65 litres (18 Gal). The motor is an 9.8 hp two stroke that the price was right. Ideally I'd like a 9.9 hp High Thrust Four Stroke as I could run her with less revs. As is we cruise at 3/4 throttle at about 6 mph. I did plan on solar between the roof hatches but the motor has an alternator that charges out battery, so I have not needed to. Best/Roy

man I wish I could find help make me a house boat. I've got a 20ft pontoon I've wanted to out a light but strong frame make take off windows for taking kids fishing. or make a roof which I got a light strong frame but I need help I'm disabled and needs little help finding cheaper stuff to finish. but live your video have fun out there stay safe and god bless.

Hi there, I would consider putting one of those house tents $300. @ Kmart or a yurt on it. Easy to remove for emergencies & comfy for the 'camping kids. I think that kids love that sort of stuff If you don't over think it it will live up to your & your kids will enjoy it & have plenty left over for bait! Good luck!
