Great video. I did not think French seams could be done on sleeves. Very happy to see it done and I'm going to sew my next sleeves like this. One question is why does there have to be background music with this great video? It makes it more difficult for people who are hard of hearing.

Should we top stitch this afterwards?

It definitely did. I was able to make curtains for the nursery. I wish I can post a photo.

The curved seam looks like something that require a bit practice, but the video is very helpful. Thank you!

Great video .I needed that refresher! I am a novice sewer.I have a q. Can you use a french seam at the curved neckline? If so van you make a video to teach that?Thank you.🙂

That's a great idea! We'll see if we can work out a video showing how to do that :)

Thanks this is really well explained and helpful !
Do you think I can also do this for the curved crotch seam of a pair of pants or shorts ? All the tutorials I find keep using an overlocker (which I don't have) or a zigzag stitch but I don't like the look of it. If not is there another way to make a clean finish with no raw edges visible?

It should be possible to do it along a curve if your fabric is light enough and it doesn't have a zipper. Another method you can use is the turn and stitch method. There's a great online tutorial at this link: sewingmachinebuffs.com/finish-raw-edges-of-fabric-without-a-serger/
      (Method 3) Hope this helps!

You can also try to use bias tape. As a beginner I've found it an useful way to save some of my projects.

What about on something like a dolman sleeve?

Great idea! We will try to show how to do this in one of our future videos.

It's not a dolman sleeve, but we made a tutorial on making a tunic using this technique. You can also check it out! ua-cam.com/video/cG55IaUnQkI/v-deo.html

I was hoping to see how to sew a right angle with a french seam. Is there a video for that?

Excellent, clear, and complete instructions; however, the music behind your speech is not helpful - distracting and annoying.

Thanks for letting us know, our usual mic was broken during this video so hopefully the audio will be clearer and sharper once it's fixed!
