Great review Jonathan! I also watched the 24 TLX Type S review and I bought mine in Urban Grey Prl. I love everything about the car inside and out but one small gripe you pointed out in your video. I have the 24 type S with the updated infotainment. why would they not include the option to expand the carplay screen when hardware/software all appear to be the same for 24/25 model. I really hope you can communicate to Acura to include this option as OTA or in service upgrade option. Its nice to see the carplay options on the 12 in. screen. Keep up the great content .

Great review. Personally, I would amend "Name a Better Turbo AWD Sedan!" to "Name a Better Turbo AWD Sedan for less than $60,000". I would argue that the M340i/M440i is still the benchmark for the segment in terms of branding, performance and fuel economy; however, it does add a $10k+ premium over the Type S. (The pricing on the Type S is a great value and is on par with the 330i and IS350 AWD F-Sport, neither of which can touch the Type S when it comes to performance). I will say that I think the TLX is the best-looking offering in the segment....likely my bias as an A-Spec owner.
Wow! Thanks a lot for the comment & feedback! You can tell that the title was done like that to start up a debate! 😂 Anyway, I hear ya (and the others) about the M340i! I need to do a review of that and the new M3 this year! Completely agree about the looks of the TLX!
The TLX Type S is a great competitor to the $55,000 Genesis G70, and the discontinued Stinger GT. I think the Fully loaded M340i is a good comparison too, but it's like an extra $15k on top of the TLX. The G70 is a a couple car length faster but not much.

TLX-S is an awesome car. I've driven a couple and they are a complete, engaging driving package. The road presence is menacing (in a good way) and SH-AWD is criminally underrated by those who don't know Acuras. In this car, SH-AWD makes ordinary drivers feel like they have Senna's driving skills🤣. Glad to see 360 degree cams and the CarPlay changes. I ended up in an ITS ultimately because once that was announced as a manual, that sealed the deal for me. Also, you can fit adult human beings more comfortably in the ITS rear seats 🤣. Another great review, Jon, keep it up.
Thanks for the comment & feedback! Yes, completely agree with you, most people never get to drive these cars and solely have to rely on specs, which may not tell the whole story! What color combo is your ITS? I’m still loving mine, but need to drive it more! 🤣

Really torn on what vehicle I should be looking at. I want a luxury sport sedan as a daily but I don’t necessarily care so much about horsepower (coming from a 13 Malibu LS) I think anything will be fast enough for me. My worry yearly maintenance cost as I’m not really a car guy like that.

I just had an Integra while my TLX Type-s was in for service. I was shocked at how much nicer my car is, and I'm not saying that to be a meanie. There is no way I would ever trade my 23 for a brand new ITS.
Acura TLX have out done the driving dynamics compared to & without the twitchy behavior of the germs Good review didn't know your volume was low until commercial came on just like TV I guess
Wow! Thanks for the nice comment & feedback! Yeah the driving dynamics are really good! What German sedan are you comparing it to? Yeah volume is always tricky, depending on which device and sound source, plus the commercials are loud! Thanks!
@Drive_Culture It's too heavy, the rear seat space is small, and the interior is too much a Honda. I just feel like it's competition has their loyal fans, and sometimes, saying, "It's cheaper than it's competition " doesn't work all the time. I drove my friend who had one. It's a nice car, but it doesn't stack up to its competition.
Great car but you can’t find any!! Nationwide…there are 4 in transit. I have 2015 TLX V6 SH-AWD (290 hp naturally aspirated) with only 90k miles. Thinking about keeping it or switching over to Lexus IS 350 F Sport AWD
Based of the title I will answer your question. M340i, G70, Stinger. And yes I have driven all of them as 1 of those 4 I was going to purchase. I ultimately went with the G70. The Acura does look nice but it is at the bottom of the list compared to the others imo.
Thanks for the comment & feedback! Congrats on the G70! What color combo did you get? I’m taking it you got the 3.3T? What did you like least about the TLX compared to the G70? Best? Hope you subscribe to come back for more!
@ I have a Havana red 3.3 twin turbo rwd sports prestige package. The least thing I like about the TLX is the interior. I don’t think you can go wrong with any of the cars I listed. The G70 just looks and feels perfect for me especially when you start to consider price vs performance and the warranties lol. Can’t beat the lifetime powertrain warranty my G70 came with. And to be honest it feels the most engaging as crazy as that may sound lol.
@ And all 3 of those cars beat the type s in roll racing and drag racing (you know real world results) as well so what is your point? All 4 cars are great but in my driving experience the G70 is the better overall car otherwise I would’ve bought the one I thought to be best overall. To each their own.
@@slimv3.162 the TLX is dynamically better. Think about it, on a track the TLX is beating cars that are straight-line quicker. That means the Acura has superior handling as it can overcome its competitors straight-line advantage and beat them on a track.
Thanks for the comment! Right now the MSRP price difference is $4,100. It’s not an insignificant sum, but it’s also not a ton of money for others. They’re two very different cars, so it just comes down to what you want!

Transfer case failures that seem to plague the 21-23 models. Lackluster aftermarket support.. Sales numbers have been abysmal and you can thank Acura for that. TLX is likely to be discontinued.
Thanks for the comment & detailed feedback! The numbers don’t lie, but they also don’t tell the whole story! Same can be said for the ITS, which is slower than most of the AWD hot hatches, but more fun and engaging to drive! I’m not one to say which car is the best in its segment, but I’ve also driven all of those competitors, and didn’t walk away thinking they were necessarily more fun than the TLX! Thanks again for putting this together though!
@Drive_Culture You're a Honda / Acura fan and your reviews - comments reflect that (bias).. No, I drove the TLX-S numerous times and no matter how hard I tried to be okay with it, it just kept falling short. This vehicle would have been perfect if it didn't have an "S" badge and wasn't so heavily advertised as some 4 door NSX by Acura's marketing team. Honda should go back to their roots of what made them great from the 90's to the early 2000's. Their competition keeps moving forward with better offerings, even if it costs more. Acura is no longer a value brand.. Why pay 9-10K more for a base MDX vs the Pilot? For slightly more quieter ride and dwb front suspension? That's not worth the price difference. Or $32,500 from an entry level pilot to the MDX-S starting prices.. That's not a small difference. Enough to buy another honda. Everyone keeps talking about the competition costing more, then why did I get 9% off a custom order brand new X5 and 2% on a G80 M3? Acura didn't bother to budge below MSRP and that was 4x different dealerships that were acting as if these were made of a rare material. One dealership had some BS markups on all type-s trims. So in the end, they push their customers to buy the competition as it has more to offer.
Performance benchmark and brand recognition still belong to M340i. Reliable and great resale value still belong to IS500. Good all around package for money is G70. TLX Type Slow in 2025 is over priced, underperformed. Last decade techs for 2026 price 😂
Thanks for the comment! So G70 is your choice? I’ll have to try to get one for a review here on Drive Culture! Hope you subscribe to come back for more!
@@Drive_Culture As a long time Acura owner since the Legend to the Tl Type S (the blue one with 6spd MT), Acura has lost their ways and their root. What used to be bargain price for Techs that optional in other car fast forward to 2025 Acura isn't anything but leading in price. G70 exterior styling is controversial but interior and features are quite nice. I had jumped in Lexus brand and never looking back to Acura.
G70 is the better offering in my opinion... It's faster, more features, more reliable, concierge service, better warranty, better infotainment, better on limit handling, and a more fun 50/50 RWD based weight distribution..plus $6K less in Canada.
Thanks for the comment! I’ll have to do a review of the G70 here on the channel! How long have you had yours? Hope you subscribe to come back for more!

The average person could care less about a bench mark test as most people don't buy cars for racing. Acura SHITS on BMW in terms of reliability and value. In that area it's no comparison and thats whats most important to buyers.

Thanks for the comment! The True Touch Pad has people that love it and hate it. The biggest issue was how it behaved in CarPlay (more like a mouse)! It did allow for you to keep your eyes on the road, once you got used to it though! I like the touchscreen in my ITS and it’s really nice in the new MDX! Hope you subscribe to come back for more!
@@Drive_Culture I've actually owned all 4 lol. The TLX just needs a better engine/transmission combo. It may eventually happen with their coming tie up with Nissan. It's also kind of embarrassing that Acura's V6 still features a timing belt in this day and age...
@@TheBreakfastLover This is true but it's all due to Super Handling AWD trickery. Take that away and the TLX would behave like a boat. It's great if you like the TLX, I personally find it to be the best looking of the bunch, but for the price, the BMW/Genesis/Kia are much better engineered cars based on proper RWD architectures. A FWD based one (like the TLX) just doesn't cut it for anything that wants to brag about performance, let alone luxury.
Here’s how it goes. The m340i is faster 0-60. Cause we all know that’s the only thing that matters. Don’t worry about the numb steering and brake feel. What’s SH-AWD? Who needs that? 😂
“B58 this!” And “0-60” that lol I have the AMG competitor to these cars and I like the M340i, but the damn community is way too annoying and is reminiscent of the current mopar community.
The Q50 Red Sport destroys this. it’s the worst in class. smallest interior largest exterior. slowest in class. brakes fail at the track. worst mpg in class. 355hp is 45 below the q50 Red Sport from ten years ago. overpriced wnr underwhelming
Thanks for the comment! I drove a Q50 Red Sport years ago and didn’t walk away feeling that it had 400hp, often times… specs only tell part of the story! It was a good sedan, but they never updated the interior or tech to compete in the segment! As for TLX Type S, like most cars, I’d recommend changing brake pads & fluid before a track day! If you do that, you’ll have no problem…. I was lucky enough to hot lap it at Laguna Seca with those changes & no issues!
Then explain why was the Q50 Redsport slower at MotorTrend's Figure-8. The 2024 Q50 Redsport took 25.5 seconds, the 2024 TLX Type S was faster 24.7 seconds.
@ motor trend is paid by honda. it’s why honda gets all the ten bests winners and awards. The Q50 red sport is the better car. Faster, roomier, more fuel efficient. You are the only person in the history of the world to leverage a figure 8 score showing your lack of automotive intelligence
@ThebreakfastLover who cares about lap time. The G70 beats the TLX in the streets where it actually matters. Your track time ain’t going to help you when you’re looking at G70 taillights😂

Thanks for the comment & feedback! Yeah the TLX Type S looks really good in Tiger Eye! Looks like Acura switched it out and is going with newer colors like Urban Gray & Double Apex Blue! It’ll be interesting to see what happens to TLX moving forward! Hope you subscribe to come back for more!
Cadillac CT5-V it has a optional AWD for the 360hp V6 twin turbo
Thanks for the comment! So are you saying you’d rather have AWD optional? The CT5-V is nice, I’ll have to see if I can get one on the channel! Hope you subscribe to come back for more!
Thanks!
Wow! Thanks always for the amazing support! 🙌🏾
Thanks for the comment! Yeah, definitely see if you can test drive before you buy, but I think you’ll be more than happy with something like this! Yearly maintenance shouldn’t be bad, especially the first few years! Let me know what you pull the trigger on! Hope you subscribe to come back for more!
When the time is right, I’d love to keep my integra but I want a Type-S. In a perfect world I can keep both of them. 😅
Thanks for the comment! Ha, that would be an awesome garage for sure! I’ve dreamt of that as well! 😂
Thanks!
Won't be surprised if they discontinued this
Thanks for the comment! Interesting… we shall see! What would you like to see changed? Hope you subscribe to come back for more!
@@Slim1986 which cars you referring to?? I dont think this car looks nothing like a Honda. Have you not seen an accord?
Great car but you can’t find any!! Nationwide…there are 4 in transit. I have 2015 TLX V6 SH-AWD (290 hp naturally aspirated) with only 90k miles. Thinking about keeping it or switching over to Lexus IS 350 F Sport AWD
Thanks for the comment! Yeah there’s not many out there for sure! What color combo and trim would you get? Hope you subscribe to come back for more!
The TLX Type S literally beat the lap times of the M340i, G70 and Stinger. 3-0 at MotorTrend's hot lap.
I’m struggling to understand how the integra type s is nearly the same cost as the TLX type s.
Thanks for the comment! Right now the MSRP price difference is $4,100. It’s not an insignificant sum, but it’s also not a ton of money for others. They’re two very different cars, so it just comes down to what you want!
The only thing I don’t like is that you can’t make any combination of outside paint with interior color scheme.
Thanks for the comment! Makes sense! What color combos would you like to see that aren’t offered? Hope you subscribe to come back for more!
Red interior black exterior should not have been taken Away. Black exterior on white should also be an option
@@Drive_Culture we should be able to mix and match the colors how we want if we’re willing to pay for it.
beautiful car
Thanks for the comment! Hope you subscribe to come back for more!
This car weighs a ton. Actually wish it only weighed a ton.
Thanks for the comment! There’s not really any new cars that only weigh a ton, but I hear you!
I can’t get over the infotainment system otherwise I would probably get this over a g70
Thanks for the comment! Interesting that the infotainment alone would be a deal breaker! Let me know if I should put a G70 on the channel! Hope you subscribe to come back for more!
@ Yeah it’s weird but to me the Acura seems just as good but more reliable but at the same time I know the fact it isn’t a touchscreen will make dealing with the trackpad unintuitive
Very nice sporty looking Acura. Perfect for those that keep saying the Integra needs AWD Lol. There you go! There you have it! Great power AWD but in my opinion a bit too heavy. I would prefer the FWD on the Integra Type S with 3K lbs. It’s amazing though how Acura is really coming out with some great sports cars especially that HRC INTEGRA everyone is waiting for! Great Video 👍

TLX-S is the slowest and heaviest in it's class against the competition. 2024+ Models are not easily obtainable.
@@iwhineTL exactly.. and add poorest MPG and smallest interior
@@Drive_Culture tlx sales dropped 55% in 2024. no one wants the damn thing
@@iwhineTL damnnnnnnnnn hahaha
Audi RS anything
Thanks for the comment! Audi’s “S” line is more in line with Type S, where “RS” is a higher tier & price! Hope you subscribe to come back for more!
@@Drive_Culture I'm on my 2nd G70. First one 4.5 years, second one 1.5 years and going strong.
Needs a gear shifter not push button.
Thanks for the comment! Is that because you want something to hold onto? Or because the buttons are hard to choose without looking? I’m fine with either style of shifter!
Need more power
Thanks for the comment! How much horsepower and torque would you want?
@@Drive_CultureI’d say a good 430 HP and maybe 390 torque something like that, v6 turbo making 355hp stock? It just isn’t worth it
Acura is a joke nowadays. This is the sport line and it’s just mid range for bmw Audi or any other brand.
Thanks for the comment! The Type S lineup was always set up this way, so it’s not out of line from the origins. I hear you though, what car are you going with? Hope you subscribe to come back for more!
The average person could care less about a bench mark test as most people don't buy cars for racing. Acura SHITS on BMW in terms of reliability and value. In that area it's no comparison and thats whats most important to buyers.
Thanks for the comment! You make some good points! People get really caught up in tests and numbers and that doesn’t always tell the whole story! Hope you subscribe to come back for more!
The TLX Type-S is an awesome daily driver. Good performance, comfort, and styling.

BMW 340i is better, maybe s5

Touch pad sucks. Need touch screen.
Umm.. 340i, G70, and Stinger entered the chat. The TLX Type S DOES look better and SOUND better but that's about it.
Thanks for the comment! Do you drive one of those vehicles? What makes those vehicles better to you? Hope you subscribe to come back for more!
@@Drive_Culture I've actually owned all 4 lol. The TLX just needs a better engine/transmission combo. It may eventually happen with their coming tie up with Nissan. It's also kind of embarrassing that Acura's V6 still features a timing belt in this day and age...
I think I’d rather my parents think I’m gay than be caught driving one of those
The TLX Type S beat the M340i, G70, and Stinger GT's lap times at MotorTrend. And it beat the G70 and Stinger GT's lap times at Car & Driver.
Be careful what you ask for, m340i fan boys incoming…
Here’s how it goes. The m340i is faster 0-60. Cause we all know that’s the only thing that matters. Don’t worry about the numb steering and brake feel. What’s SH-AWD? Who needs that? 😂
“B58 this!” And “0-60” that lol
I have the AMG competitor to these cars and I like the M340i, but the damn community is way too annoying and is reminiscent of the current mopar community.
Thanks always for the support & comment! Ha! Yeah I’m sure they’ll be triggered!
I hear ya! The M340i and even M3 are great cars, but they’re both more money when similarly optioned too!
Thanks for the comment & feedback! So you have a AMG C43? That’s an awesome car and hope to do a review of that this year!
@@v12kingV10 wrong again, the Q50 Redsport was slower than the TLX at MotorTrend's hot lap by 0.8 seconds.
