I haven't watched him play a lot, but after seeing this, I think it speaks a lot about his mindset and effort. Literally not taking plays off. Imagine making multiple inbound steals in a row and making a basket each time, everytime a different player taking it out lol
@@Raxengun when he played for the Sixers it was like every single time they let him on the floor he would get a steal on the first play lol. He’s sick on defense.
Most impressive and underrated part of this is his decision making, always making the right pass which leads to almost all of these ending in an easy score
Kid comes from the most revered Basketball family in Pittsburgh (Brookline neighborhood)....Aunt Suzie..holds NCAA assists record, Olympic Gold Medal, WNBA Rookie of the year, WNBA Coach of the year, Father Tim, over 600 wins as a Highschool coach with several championships, Aunt Kathy WNBA coach, and I'm lucky to have grown up with them back in the 70's
I'm so proud of TJ. He was another "no name" that was brought in to fill minutes during The Process but he took advantage of the opportunity and has made a real career for himself. Sixers and Pacers fans really appreciate every little thing he does.
I find it hard to believe that nba players seem to forget that inbounds passes are also live passes that can be stolen but credit to McConnell for taking advantage of their carelessness, also helps that he's sneaky athletic with quick hands and high defensive IQ
I used to do this same thing in high school. Most players are taught “out and in” when the other team scores. Most time they just grab it from the net and pass it in. I used to act like I was getting back on defense when my team would score but the whole time I’m eyeing the in bounder, and as soon as I see him get into a passing motion I would just sprint and jump the pass.
this guy really deserves to stay in the NBA. He makes players look unprofessional lol. sad to say sometimes NBA does not do that to underrated/underdog players, Sometimes they would throw away these kinds of players in D-League, etc.
The team were not utilizing his steals well. Most of them were surprise to see him with the ball already. They should see it coming and respond to it quick as possible.
When I played I was good at this. In my experience it comes from baiting the passer, making them think you aren’t engaged. Then as they release intercept the pass or disrupt the recipient enough to cough it up.
ball clubs need this man on there team nothing worse then a pest on defence doesnt matter if you a superstar or not a steal is a steal and when you have ten of them in a game pay 💰 the damn man !!!! if this was easy you would see it more often but you dont so hes worth every penny and is unselfish!!!
He is very smart, quick and sneaky but he and his teammates need to work on a better conversion rate after the steal. They tend to take quick shots or make bad passes afterwards.
Anyone seeing this after his 10 steal triple double?
🙋🏾♂️
yessir!!! Big Arizona Wildcat fan here!!!
yuh
Yup
Miss this dude in Philly. So happy for his success. True underdog story.
Every team needs an player like TJ McConnell. The effort and desire he shows on every play is truly inspiring.
Amazing compilation. Why does no one catch onto this man? Lol.
Its human nature to be passive when inbounding the ball.
He’s too quick. He’s so little and fast as hell.

Yeah wish he was playing on the clippers. He's better than beverly for me

Or a teammate blowing a layup
@@davidzollars5102 welcome to "The Process" lol
His timing and anticipation is crazy

Really?
These kind of steals are not as easy to come by in PA catholic ball. This is some real AAU/street nonsense going on in the NBA.

The fact that he has 7 mins of steal highlights.. Bruh
Inbound steal specifically too
The irony I click on this video on Mcconnell's birthday, happy birthday to him 🎉🎉🎉
2:33 that entire play was beautiful.
That ball spin at 6:30 is insane
Wtf 😂
Went out of bounds too
Unbelievable skills! No body contacts at all!
Another title: How you play defense in 2K
Man, this is the kind of impact team mate you want.
who's here after he had 9 in a half?

The NBA needs this! Love the hustle!
Great job. This was fun to watch!
he hides himself within others as they all run to the other end, and is very good at knowing when to explode back to intercept the inbound.
this guy really deserves to stay in the NBA. He makes players look unprofessional lol.

I don't know what's more, the 54 Inbound steals or the 36 Blown Layups after..😂😂😂
You counted the blown layups. XD
Not to take away McConnell's accomplishment but the Pacers have got to take advantage of those steals.
The team were not utilizing his steals well. Most of them were surprise to see him with the ball already. They should see it coming and respond to it quick as possible.
@@francisian1769 The reason his team doesn't react is the reason he can get the steals in the first place. LAAZZZZYYYY NBA.
He really take advantage when players opposite team relax a bit during inbounding
IE he really takes advantage of how lazy and careless NBA players are.
3:50 the way he just shook and bodied that man for a simple layup kills me
Well he's not, just trying to get another one steal.
5:23 at this moment Embiid knew he fked up
Underrated!
This dude is all heart
54 incredible steals resulting in 18pts, 8 bricks, 6 blocked shot attempts & a dozen brutal fouls.😂
My favorite Defender in the league behind pat bev I've been a fan of his since Philly.
Miss this in Philly 😤
UNDERRATED!
Philly will always love you
I’m a Knicks fan but I always loved TJ. Everytime I played MyGM on 2k I got him on the Knicks
Definition of pick pocket and interceptor on hall of fame 😭
yep
From what I see is he lets them be/feel open and knows the exact moment to go for the steal.
that guy is quick and sneaky!
God of Intercept that was amazing
Definition of hustle.
He was a handful at Arizona too.
My new hero
He is a great defender, i watched pacers vs nets the other night, i swear it felt he got 10 steals and 10 deflections
This guy is every 2k stage centers and locks today just hawking the inbound steals lmao
Didn't know he's this goood!
That defensive play plus high IQ
1:40 Look at that read holy
Dude would be a beast Corner Back CB
The true underdog of the nba imo
His like caruzo a perfect complimentary team mate for a championship team
This guy would be an amazing NFL player
if he develops his perimeter and 3 points shooting, he will be a very good piece for any playoff contender team
Work hard. Get rewarded. Kid has zero quit in him.
When I played I was good at this. In my experience it comes from baiting the passer, making them think you aren’t engaged. Then as they release intercept the pass or disrupt the recipient enough to cough it up.
McConnell will now join Lowry on players I want to be ♥️
Damn he's a a glue, he sticks at you and he doesn't go easily..unless you pull him out of the game..that's one player I want to have on my team
You can't afford to make a lazy inbound with this man on the court 💀💀💀
Grandmaster of inbound steal
I really love him on philly his the 2nd unit leader... I don't know why they let him go... His the new era gary payton on his steals
Dude was a steal in fantasy. He avg 2 steals for game he has big game potential
He is deceivingly quick
We should make this guy famous..
I'm here *AFTER* the triple double 😳
Presence and timing level above max.
hard worker
Half way through it I just started laughing so hard, it's quite ridiculous how he does it over and over again.
0:04 McConnell shooting a 3??? And making it??! Lol That’s a rare sight
He should improve his shooting..and confidence...no question he is very good defensively! Wow!
Anyone see his game against the Cavs! 10 steal triple double! Mcconell is a bad dude!
This that strict 2k defense right there.
He grindin that hall of famer interceptor badge
wow,...this man's a steal.
Pat Bev with CLASS
Satisfying
I miss him by the 76ers
Crazy thing is he is known for this around the league but still ends up doing it
He mastered the Art of hiding his presence.. damn Kuroko
my man playin nba 2k
I wonder how good he would be with a decent three point shot
Imagine if there was an NBA team that played hard like this. No one would know what to do against them.
he makes it look like they were trying to inbound it to him
I remember getting pissed at my friend for always stealing d ball on my inbound plays when we're playing 2k. 😂.
Feel like dude could be a db in the nfl, great speed, forward, fast hands and awareness (might even break the streak of non white dbs in the nfl lol)
he's nice
This was me on mycareer in 2k12
2:25 nice screen by Kaminsky Lol😆
6:30 when McConnell throws the ball back inbounds, the ball has a weird path.
I think it hit his knee with a spin
I thought Jerry west was the bet stealer of the ball, but this guy is breaking his records.
What about the actual record stealer of the ball John Stockton?
Every time
When the steal is better than the shot
I had no idea he was this good 😂
If he works on his pump fakes to get more space and confidence he'll snapp
man of steal
The guy's a specialist lol

Kyle Lowry probably check if TJ McConnell is hiding under his bed before he goes to sleep..
Dude's #1 role model has to be Stockton...
2:21 hes fast asf
This dude is so satisfying to watch 😲😳
He’s smart he knows on inbound it’s a large chance it’s going to the pg so he sells out
Imagine McConnel vs Campazzo.
