Wow JB, you somehow are always a step ahead of me on learning about bags! I guess I should ask you then on this older video, hopefully you’ll see it… From the Axium, to the Brown Buffalo, to the Evade and this one featured in this video, to the GR1 and any other bag you’ve tested in this category…. use case, needing a tough as nails bag to lug plates in and can beat up and sometimes use for travel if needed. Does Go Ruck just win in this use case? Thank you so much man, you help me constantly!
@@JBOutside1 yeah… that is what I was thinking. All of these bags seem fantastic but if I’m going to ruck and toss it around with plates and sometimes EDC AI suppose it’s going to be go ruck for me.
I have a Whitley and a Pathfinder. I believe the reason he didn't go all the way to the bottom on the mesh pocket is so you don't run into items in the front pocket and back pocket protruding into one or the other. I got the 1050 Whitley and it's a little tank.
cant wait for my whitley to come in the mail! i am jealous of all the content creators that are getting it early! Helm sure does know how to market! I do agree that I wish the inside "mesh" pocket was bigger and went all the way down to the bottom.
Hi Great videos. Is the Whitley big enough for a weekend trip/ personal item bag? And I’m between the Whitley and the evergoods ctb26 which do you prefer?
Different uses and very different bags. That would depend on the use. The Whitley is an ultra-organized EDC bag for someone that loves to have everything in its place and accessible. The PLC20 is a more general, grab and go for lighter EDC.
If you were going to get one for edc in the evade, would you get a MCB version or the black? I have a lot of black bags but not sure if MCB would draw a lot of attention. Ranger green is a nice choice also
Enjoying it? Yes. Absolutely. Excellent mobile office set-up for someone on the go. The height of the bag though is pretty tall (18.5") and without load lifters to adjust it sits kinda low.
@@JBOutside1 Thanks so much for responding. You never steer me wrong. Good to know. I figured the lack of load lifters was gonna be an issue. Shame....
@@seechangenyc280 Thought I’d share my own experience with the Whitley. I’m a 5’2” woman with roughly a 15” torso. I recently received the updated Whitley (which I believe is a bit taller than the previous version). When the straps are pulled tight, this pack fits me perfectly. Since this pack is taller than just about every one I own, I kept my hopes low, but it actually carries on my back better than any other large pack I have! The angled straps that sit a few inches below the top of the pack make all the difference. This design makes it so that load lifters aren’t needed. All in all, it works perfectly for me, and I’m inches shorter than you. You should be happy with the Whitley. The only downside is that with the straps pulled tight, the excess of the straps dangles a lot. But I solved that by looping them back into the elastic strap keepers. I love this bag! It’s my new work backpack for all my books and tech gear. Hope this was helpful!
@@JBOutside1 understood. In the end I think I will multipurpose both to end up being used the same. With the focus on long term wear comfort. Think the mpl22 is the right call. Thanks.
It’s called “MagnePatch”. They are listed on the Alpha One Niner but they’re sold out I believe. Easy way to add a patch to any back that doesn’t have a patch panel.
Your channel has been vital in navigating the never-ending options of bags that exist out there. I’m glad I subscribed. Thanks for everything!
Awesome! Thank you! Let me know if there's something out there I should add to the list!
Great video! Can you please give some brief thoughts on which outer material you would recommend for different use cases?
Mostly a personal choice in my opinion. How does it look and feel in your opinion

These are all very well made to be honest but I know that GORUCK SCARS is tough to beat!

I’ve finally gotten an Evade full, half, and have a Whitley coming!
Warning: tough choices ahead

you’re probably right. I realize some decisions need to be made. it’s a great one regardless
Great REVIEW! Enjoy your vids as always.
Thanks man!! 👊🏻

It's a great one for sure and he does have a great knack for getting stuff out there. I hope you enjoy it when it arrives!
Another great review. I have one on order. Thanks.
Right on! 👊🏻
For office use, whitley or cpl16? Is the size difference big?
Both have some good organization options for that. The Whitley is much bigger so I suppose it depends on how much you really carry
Hi Great videos. Is the Whitley big enough for a weekend trip/ personal item bag? And I’m between the Whitley and the evergoods ctb26 which do you prefer?
It's big enough for sure. I moved on from the Whitley and my go-to travel bag is the CTB26
@@JBOutside1 thanks I think I’m leaning towards the CTB 26. Looking for a multi purpose bag
Thanks for the review! A19 say the final version will have a luggage pass!
BOOM! Love it
I missed that somewhere...is that posted on the site?
@@JBOutside1 nope, helmie said on different replies on social networks. And in a personal reply to an email 🙃

@@AFGixxeR88 probably simple black
Still waiting for the evade 1.5 to come back in stock.
Side question: that forward red and black flag patch. Where do I get one?
That was from GORUCK
This or CTB20? I'm very used to the layouts and organisation of the CTB series and I'm looking for a smaller 20L for different use case and loadouts
CTB20
@@JBOutside1 Thank you. Since I have the CTB26, I can keep the CTB20 inside it's main compartment like you did in your CTB20 for easy storage 😁
Front panel inspired by the Aer Tech/Day packs? I might be mistaken, but were they the first to do a panel like that?
Probably, I don’t know the history behind it
Another great video! You think this bag will be good for this 5'6," tall, 17" torsoed gal? You enjoying it?

Great review! Does it have a hard frame sheet?
It has two frame sheets. They’re a medium thickness compared to others I’ve seen. I think they’re perfect for this bag.
It has two firm frame sheets. Together with the VX42 material it gives the bag a nice firm structure which I like.
Which in your opinion would be more presentable, the 500d or 1050d?
In black, personal preference with a slight edge to ballistic. But that’s just my opinion.
@@JBOutside1 what about the VX42 vs the ballistic?
ditto@@NadavArad
Does the Whitley or 1.5 Lite look smaller on the back? I’m worried that the boxy Whitley might make it look bigger than it is.
One more question, does the Lite stand on its own? Thanks!
probably the Evade based on the shape, but not much
it stands when loaded
@@JBOutside1 Thanks for the reply! Great videos as always!
Are we going to see a 2024 Evade 1.5 review??
Possible. Waiting on the new color
@@JBOutside1 nice. I’m in the market for my first edc/minimal travel bag. I think I am going to choose between ctb26 and the new evade.
Can you review the new SYMPL Travel backpack pls. tnx

How does the 500D compare to GR's 500D?
Identical.
