    What do you think of the new setup? I think it's a lot better than the previous two and it appears that the toads enjoy it as well. Also, what do you think I should do in their old 75 Gallon Aquarium (48" x 18" x 21")? Let me know! Have a great weekend!

    Thank you so much for the Trypophobia warning! I love these toads and all your projects but it's incredibly difficult for me to look at that part (it's dumb and irrational) but the fact that you thought to put a warning really means a lot and it means I don't have to worry when watching any of your videos that involve these toads.

    • @JustAnotherBuckyLover
      @JustAnotherBuckyLover Рік тому +4

      Just wanted to say that it's not irrational at all. In fact, it's been theorised to be an evolutionary biological response based on a repulsion for things that are likely to be linked to mydriasis (maggot infestations), skin lesions/infections, etc. as the repulsion for them makes it far less likely that you will go near the things that will trigger them. It just so happens that people with a typical trypophobic response (primarily revulsion rather than actively fearful) tend to have that reaction to "harmless" things as well, rather than just the obvious infestations and infections that bother non-trypophobic people.

    I love what thought you've put into their setup. I feel it's essential that captive animals can be allowed to pursue all their natural drives, and you go out of your way to enable a very wholesome life for these critters in a way that is also gorgeous for us! I'm totally staggered by these suriname toads. They're incredible. I'm going to start attempting to emulate some of your easier builds for the sake of my tropical houseplants (I live in an arid environment) but I hope someday I can provide habitats for interesting animals like you do!

    I've no idea if i have trypophobia. I can't stand to see such things that trigger it but at the same time i can't stop looking at it. Kind of like when you see someone you know doing some weird dance and you want to look away but at the same time you can't lmao!!! That being said, the first time i learned about these toads was on animal planet YEARS ago as a little girl and finding them gross but fascinating. Something i still feel about them! • @bundlesofjoe
      @bundlesofjoe 2 роки тому +3

      It's not a real phobia. It's like saying you have a phobia of being pushed off a cliff. It's something literally everyone is scared of. A phobia is an irrational fear. Considering that tons of small holes looks like something infested with maggots which we should avoid eating because of viruses and disease it makes sense for us to have a natural disgust with it. Our bodies have hundreds if not thousands of deeply ingrained instincts from birth, the fears nearly everyone shares are among those instincts.

    That was great to see them zooming up and down their new water column. I'm designing a vertical tank for my sliders will enjoy seeing what that third dimension brings to their interactions and happiness... one of them, Lila, grew up overpriced at petsmart until finally they decided to adopt her out. Her cage was a mere puddle shared with other turtle species. The first thing she did when she got here was stand as tall as she could with her feet touching the bottom of the tank. Still chokes me up thinking she waited her whole life to experience that.

    Low PH decomposing leaf litter shrimp tank (fancy type caridina). It would require using remineralized RO/DI but I think you could pull off something spectacular that lasts a long time and looks beautiful. Not to mention the options for incredibly beautiful shrimp to showcase in such a unique setup. The purple metallics and metallic blues are truly spectacular as well as the pattern designs (fishbones, tiger striping, etc.).

    How your brain works is amazing. You really have that ability to see every aspect separately and as a cohesive mechanism. All the while figuring out how it’ll look, how you can actually build it, how to keep the animals as safe as possible under worst case scenario’s.
    That probably comes with years of experience. I’ve recently fallen in love with frogs myself. I have three White’s Tree Frog babies that have me captivated and constantly worried like a mother hen. It’s my first bioactive set up and my first experience with micro fauna and keeping live food ALIVE and gut loaded for my babies. I’m enjoying the whole process. And the frogs themselves are SO DANG ADORABLE! I hope that yours actually have babies! If they do, PLEASE share the process on your channel. I, for one, would be fascinated. But then again, I don’t have that phobia. Next I’d love to get a Tokay Gecko, just to try my hand at taming the monster. lol.

    I learned a new trick the other day for drilling glass. Cut a piece of sponge to fit inside the drill and soak it before drilling. Since the water in your dam set-up gets pushed away by the spinning drill bit, the sponge will supply lubricant from the inside out. I'd still use the dam too though. Also, if you're using a jig you should be able to drill accurately from both sides. No blowout possible.

    I love these toads. They are extremely cool and I love their personalities. Thank you for giving them such a beautiful home. I'm excited if they do decide to breed.

    Dude...I can't express how much I love your channel and how much I've learned from it. You definitely do your DD on all of your projects. I would love to see you do a setup with archer fish. Congrats on the success of your channel.

    Surinam toads are really neat. They have a very peculiar way of reproducing and they look unique from other amphibians.

    That newly empty 75 gallon is perfect for a musk turtle. I set up a 75 for my common musk turtle earlier this year.
