Just so you guys know: this actually works. I'm not a singer in training or anything of the sorts, but I just do it because I love to sing for enjoyment (majoring in oboe performance btw). I did this for about 2 to 3 days. Once every day at night. After that, I accidentally took a 2-day break the exercise. I thought I made a mistake from doing. My previous range was E3 to F5. It's now C3 to A5. It increased my range a major 3rd in both directions! Which is really nice because I love to sing in my lower range. All that and I haven't been doing the exercise for a week. Thank you for this awesome exercise! :D

Okay, so I did this. My range was F3 - C5. I've never done any vocal work. I'm 55. I had to accompany myself with the piano. I was not able to do it as he did until after the 4th day. Then I found I could do it unaccompanied. After 7 days at 3 minutes a day my range went to D3-E5. So that's 2 notes either side. Easy money. One thing I learned was I needed to get some wind behind it - to not be afraid to use a little volume. That helped me find those extra notes. Big thumbs up from me for beginners who might be a little intimidated by complex vocal exercises.

Within few days. Try one thing. Sing few lines of a song. Then do this exercise. Then sing the same lines again. You can feel the difference. You would be able to sing with less strain. Same way you would be able to hit higher notes within a week or two

*FINALLY someone acknowledging that singing is just like everything else, you can work your way to where you want!*
(I am frustrated because it is very prelevant in the choral community to classify people based on their starting vocal ranges and proficiencies, and by "having the hearing" or "not having the hearing" like it is all written and predestined for you in sime book at birth!)

Back 7 months ago, I had done this exercise for a week (I can't remember how long), and my range increased by a major 3rd in both ends. But I have to warn you. If you want to be able to reach and work up with it with this and stop using this afterwards, I encourage to go a little farther. I stopped when I was able to hit C3, and now I can barely hit D3. I'm gonna try to do this exercise. I miss being able to hit those low notes.

I'm also following an additional technique becoz I automatically shift to head voice, and I wanted to increase my chest voice, so what I did was I was saying 'ah' by increasing my pitch till I get stressed, and I also checked if I was crossing my previous score by using a pitch detector. But overall ur exercise does rlly help increase....I'm a contralto, D2- E4 and Imma girl soo I'm trying to hit E5 then slowly build up to C6

I'm just using this to document my progress :)
19.03.23 I have a very big head voice range but I always struggle to hit high notes in chest voice so my goal is to expand my chest voice range. Starting from a healthy g4, my current goal is to get to a healthy b4. And my ideal goal would be a strong e5. I will update :)
    26.03.23 after 1 week:
I just sang I song where I always struggled with one high note. My voice was always strained and it did just not sound pleasant.
after the exercise, it sounds so much healthier and it was much easier to reach that note!
after a week my range has expanded one and a half notes
    29.03.23 after 1 week and 3 days:
no wayyy I my voice expanded from a g4 to a b4. That is amazing! When I sing a c5, my voice currently aways breaks into a falsetto
    3.04.23:
now I can hit the C5 without switching into a falsetto! It is weak but those exercises really work!
    27.04.23
    the C5 is stronger now
