  • How to Remove Chrome from Metal Objects: Chemical, Mechanical and Homemade Methods. This video provides various methods to remove chrome plating from different types of materials. Method 1 involves using specialized machinery, such as an abrasive blaster or an ultrasonic cleaner. Abrasive blasting can remove chrome finish, but it produces toxic airborne dust and sediment, requiring appropriate protection. Ultrasonic cleaners use sound waves and cleaning solutions to remove chrome from delicate items like jewelry. Method 2 involves chemical solutions like hydrochloric acid or sodium hydroxide, which can strip chrome from metal objects. Hydrochloric acid requires a solution of 30-40% concentration and submerging the object until the chrome comes off. Sodium hydroxide should only be used on ferrous metals and carbon steel, and the object should soak in the solution for some time. Finally, reverse electroplating is a very effective but extremely dangerous method that involves using a live electric current and produces toxic, carcinogenic chemicals. It's best to leave it to professionals.

Mannnnnnnn stop lying, its like listening to a gps for 12 minutes.
I have an old exhaust pipe I'm trying to get rid of the chrap eBay chrome, and I'm painting it with high temp exhaust primer and paint. 1200°F to 2000°F, I want to say it is ceramic paint? Not 100% but I've used it before.

Totally useless video. At least they uploaded a relevant pic for the vid thumbnail, but as I scrolled through and saw this was nothing but an idiotic animation with text and voice-over, I saw there was nothing helpful or demonstrative within. The same info could've been posted on a website. Great use of technology here.
