No more sun, winter like 3/4 of the year rain all day long. It’s beautiful in Oregon when the sun does come out and it’s not 32 degrees outside. I had enough though after 4 years. I rather be back home in Hawaii. I’ll come visit Oregon in the summer.
Waimanalo, Kailua, Kaneohe. Millilani is not very unique and pretty sterile. Crime rate is getting a bit nuts but then again, all of Hawaii's crime rates seem to be getting out of control.
I live Kuulako and the views of Mt. Ka’ala are the best. Kuulako have the best townhouses except no bathroom downstairs. lol. Mililani Mauka is so peaceful to me compared to growing up in town.
At the time I was there, Mililani was the southern California-style suburban town. Movies like "E.T." reminded me of it. It was still new enough that the trees in the neighborhoods were small and sparse. I don't really get that whole "boring neighborhood" perspective about the place where you have your home. I have heard that here often and noticed that about people in other places, too. Traffic from one town to the other - Mililani to Pearl City to Aiea to Honolulu, etc - can be a hassle, but it is so easy to go down the highway for the mall or a particular restaurant or movies or type of shopping or whatever "exciting" thing you want.
I live in the older part of Mililani. I have lived in Mauka before and loved it but the traffic is awful. I would not live in Ewa. Traffic and disaster preparedness comes to mind. Love Koa Ridge but the houses are so close.. When I retire, I will definitely look at a lot of land on the outer island away from people. Go off grid.
I stumbled across your vids - love them. I had a family member stationed @ Ft. Shafter, so I would visit alot from Virginia (and try to return when I can) just to hang out for a couple of days! Beautiful place, but like all places / cities there's going to be "issues" of all kind, this is life, so buckle up! BUT when I was wacthing one of your vids, you mentioned the TRAFFIC situation, and when you said that HNL isn't as bad as the Hampton Rd, Norfolk & Virginia Beach area - I turned to my husband, and said "he looks like he was in stationed in the Atlantic fleet - Navy or CG"?? and you confirmed (in another vid CS)! lol. We live in Richmond - 50mins from that area (if you push it)! Hope you'll return some day ! Take care & excellent vids 🌸✈🌸✈
These people weren't born when I lived there. My family lived in waipio. There were camps all over ,it was all pineapple. I was amazed when I returned from Vietnam in 1968. They already started on the first increment. Development was fast and growth just boomed. Got too crowded so I moved big island, can't beat living on big island.
I grew up in waipio. My family lived on the corner of malihini street and Kamarina street. We probably know each other. I joined the Marine Corps in 1961. Went to Vietnam in June 67 and came home in 68. I remember walking with my friends all over the place. We used to go to kipapa valley to go swimming in the little stream. But my mother and younger brother moved to waipio acres in 65. I remember when what is now mililani was app pineapple fields. There used to be a little ditch that ran by kipapa elementary. I would go with my friends following the ditch in the pineapple fields. We would go get guava. My mother used to make guava jam. And there was purple lilikoi browning along the ditch. We would pick them too. Life was good fun in those days.
Boring for the work/school week is can be a good thing, especially when raising littles. Then you can get away and do something or go somewhere cool for the weekend! Also, start having more BBQ at your house! We would love to come! I know from your other videos we need to bring something to the BBQ!
@@movingtohawaii I’m 65. It would have been nice if I asked my Mom more about her life before I was born, or tried to reconnect with my Dad. 40 is great in the work world as you’re seen as young and in your prime (which I didn’t take advantage of). I think I took too much for granted. We’re all different.
If you get a perimeter lot - do you have higher insurance rates because of climate change risks - wasn’t there a fire north of Mililani Mauka not to long ago. Seems like insurance companies want to raise rates with that as a justification
Mililani Mauka is one of the highest elevation neighborhoods on Oahu. It’s not in a flood zone. The weather is pleasantly cool most days. It rains frequently enough to be green, but less rain than Manoa, Kaneohe and Maunawili. That means you don’t have to contend with the mold and steamy post-rain humidity (as much).
Lol! Sis said her nails match everybody😂…u 2 crack me up! Btw love the content and Mililani is the dream!!! 😍 Mauka is beautiful BUT! crowded (my opinion) and neighbors 5 ft from each other & town side is amazing!
I grew up in Mililani back in the early 90s near Hongwanji and even delivered the Star Bulletin back when kids had paper routes. I loved that place riding my bike all over, going to Jelly's comic book store and Sportsline which unfortunately is no longer there. Now I'm in Oregon and heading back with the Fam for 4th of July! If I see you 2, I'll give you guys a huge shout out as I always like driving through the old neighborhood regaling stories and reminiscing as my kids complain hahaha...

Mililani is a quiet, safe neighborhood with wide streets, parks, big trees, and a decent variety of daily conveniences. Also, HOA fees are fairly low and kept in check-no regular annual increases. Is it boring? Brah, you gotta make your own fun! Meet your neighbors or drive to Town or North Shore!
I lived many years in Mauka, moved to Ewa, dont go to Ewa! Way worse than Mililani, lotta issues, plus the best Ewa area is Ka Makana /Kuapapa and its a looong long Ft Weaver drive to the freeway.
Mililani is boring, lived there 4 years. If you don’t got money there your stuck not really doing anything except playing sports outside. Also different ethnicities in Mililani compared to other parts are part of the reason for being boring. Which is fine if one wants to mind there business and not talk story.
Oahu is boring in general. Definitely not a place for single men either. 99.8% of decent looking locals have bf's - its annoying. And the dudes be cuffing!
Mililani is boring asf! Too damn quiet. Pearl City is boring. I'm moving back to Kapahulu...where I can just walk outside right to the stores...and civilization.

No, it’s really not. The nuance and detail of real estate transactions are anything but simple. It’s easy to simplify any profession down to a “gist” in a UA-cam comment, but when it comes to life-changing legal contracts the gist isn’t enough. Take care, aloha.
