I give it an F for debasing one of the finest works in english literature. You can't go stupid when you take on lord of the rings.
Amazon wasn't tricked into this. All anyone needed to do was look into the two showrunners' backgrounds and experience to know these clowns shouldn't come anywhere near this production, except as part of the catering service. Doubtless Amazone knew all this about them and chose to go forward anyway. That's not trickery, that's straight up arrogance and stupidity. And now it's a lesson that generations of future producers can learn from.
I think we’ll all be VERY curious to see the behind the scenes of how this was made. I think there’s a mini show and podcast series that’s supposed to show that. I wonder if they’ll skip the very beginning though and only show on-set production.

You don’t need to read the entire Silmarillion book to review the source material of the ROP - the second age stories.
There are only two chapters to read - the last two chapters. That’s it.
Then read the first 3 pages of appendix B “The Tale of Years” at the back of “The Return of the King” book.

Sauron didn't "screw up" with the Rings. They worked all too well. Except Celebrimbor detected what he was doing just in time and the Elves took off their Rings: otherwise their minds would have been enslaved to the One Ring
I watched the show a few months ago with from the perspective that it's only fanfic, and I enjoyed the heck out of it. Writing is bad? Fanfic. Pacing is awful? Tolkein inspired fanfic.
The secret is to lower your expectations to the floor then it's alright

Also, Adar was the closest to an actual LotR character, he was so otherworldly and ethereal that he really felt like the elves of the original movies. SO upset that he's being recast for the second season >:-[

Sidney this is Great! Completely agree!! it's a beautiful series visually but the story definitely lacking :) I enjoyed each episode but for that amount of money it should have been better :D Also i certainly thought the Adar was Sauron :/

Let me guess, you have watched the movies, but never read the books. As if you read the books, this is complete trash. It is not just controversial to the lore, it is utterly stupid travesty. But if you neither read the books and watched the movies the entire show does not make any sense. Sauron actually is a good guy in the show. He even did not lie, just Galadriel was stupid in her interpretations of his words. Adar is a good guy too. He is honest, brave and care about his people. Harfoots are evil, stupid and selfish. Elves are just stupid. Dwarfs are selfish. Numenoreans do not make sense. And Galadriel is pure evil. She constantly lies, threats other people, tries to murder them, tries to dominate them, constantly aggressive, extremely selfish, leaving her companions to die - if you read the books, this is travesty. And if you did not and did not watch the movies - she does not make any sense as protagonist, because she is the antagonist. So how you enjoyed that show? Switched your brain off?

From what I remember, the two clowns running this show were recommended by JJ Abrams as some kind of staff-writers on one of his old Star Trek projects
As for the show itself, the one & only Lord Bezos was demanding his fledgling Amazon studio create a new fantasy series to rival Game of Thrones’ success out of thin air, and thus this steaming pile of crap was born
So its conception was self-pleasuring junk, it was mismanaged the entire way up through production (remember they were in need of an “intimacy coordinator” at one point?), and the end result is one of the stupidest and most crippling wastes of money in film history
I cringe just thinking of how many cities’ school budgets or community shelters could’ve used all that cash. Jesus christ
So THAT'S why I never liked it! It was a tangled mess, and I couldn't following anything after the first installment.
Maybe... If I had read the books, I'd appreciate the story. These, OTOH, turned me off of reading the books.
