@MarchingMaximous A 24th note is the same thing as a sex-tuplet. Just like an 8th note is a note where there are 8 evenly-spaced notes in a measure of common time (4/4), a 24th note is a note where there are 24 evenly-spaced notes in a measure of common time. 4 beats x 6 notes per beat = 24 notes.
@sdnraurme there isn't a diddle from either player. the snare drummer is playing your standard triplet grid. the bass drummer is splitting the 24th note, between two hands (which is already incredibly difficult), then compounded with the fact that he is also gridding the split. this is rain man shit. Idoubt there is another marching this year who could do this. The guys standing around are a top 3 drumline, and they are all blownaway,
@MrMaggotforlife13 One of the guys is a bass drummer. When I say they're splitting, I'm pretty much saying that the bass drummer is trying to play in-between the spaces that the snare drummer is playing. He's splitting the beat.
@MrMaggotforlife13 Usually... But this is drum corps. They're doing this for fun, pretty much cause they're good enough to do that haha. Some of my friends here at UNT like to do the same thing. It's pretty cool, if you think about it, playing in-between a 16th note, constantly, and consistently. That takes skill haha
If you're into this kind of thing, and buddy do the same thing with SCV Stick Control on my channel (shameless plug). I'm all about fostering this kind of higher-level splitting, so I encourage everyone, find a buddy and hack something out!
I remember when my instructor showed this to us...it still blows my mind, oh my gosh.

@StringsofMartyr Ah, nevermind. I do this with stick control also (see my channel), but it's just a coincidence.
That awkward moment when they mess up and its clean...
My friend can do this with SCV's Stick Control. It's the weirdest thing I've ever witnessed. =|
AH SHIT! XD
@MrMaggotforlife13 They're splitting... Which is why they stopped when they played together. Haha

It's called alternating splits. No need to over analyze, most kids don't even know this kind of thing exists.
He wasn't trying to split. He just can't play clean. lol
It just sounds like a really dirty roll....i don't get it
