Great battery. I don't think the bass drummers get enough recognition for the ridiculously hard splits they do. That triplet split was incredible and coming out of it was very clean. One of these days i would like to play bass in DCI. Good job bass line!
this is one of my favorite drum breaks, the tenors are piss clean, the basses are on point like a mofo, and the snares amazing. everything flows and is super clean. my brother marched for these guys as a tenor player a while back, and they have been a sick drum line since i can remember. good vid. thanks
Those bass drummers are good at drumming. This was towards the beginning of the rise of the Bluecoats. Fast forward to today (2021), they have won a championship and continue to be one of the top drumlines in DCI! There was a time when it didn't used to be this way.
Smokin! That feature was just about perfect on finals night. Hardly any dirt and you guys really threw down some tough licks that old vets could appreciate. Good work bluecoats! Cant wait to see the 09 program.
Whats kinda cool, is I followed them from the parking lots all the way back into the woods where they were practicing. The whole time, they stayed in step, as if it were like...taking a sunday stroll through the park. But All in all. They are ONE OF my favorite drumlines
there's sheet music at the start and everything pretty much gets re-written throughout the season they start learning the music throughout the winter and early spring at monthly/weekly camps so that by the time they move-in for the summer they have it all learned and can learn the drill and it's "muscle" memory, as in the part of your body that causes the stick to move
the tuning is so perfect all across the board, snares are crispy and wet sounding, tenors are ringy, basses are boomy jshefjkesruhjertkuhrtkjnrt its amazing :D
That house was only about 250 yards or so from the stadium. They warmed up to the right of the house on Thursday night as well. It was a real nice area for the lines to warmup and everyone was somewhat close. There were many trees around. It led back into an athletics area with soccer fields and a track. It was one of the best warmup areas I have seen for DCI finals. SCV warmed up in the back yard on Thursday. We just walked through the gate Thursday at the back of the house.
dutting is used for being together before you play...it helps with subdivision, but is mainly to help bring everyone together and come in at the same time. So it sounds cleaner...that's why we do it at least
yep. also, just because a lot of corps use vic firth doesn't mean they use the same sticks. IP sticks are usually used by corps located in the southeast, like phantom regiment, cavaliers, and carolina crown because the sticks are made in tennessee. although, that's just a reason i made up. vegas were designed by scott johnson who works with the blue devils, but the blue devils signed with pro-mark this year. so i don't know if they still have a contract with vic firth.
@diminishedsixth Its pretty much like a "percussion section solo." it's where just the battery/front ensemble are playing and the winds usually do a visual or something during it
I can't wait to see what Mike has written for the Cavies. I am a big fan of the bluecoats mainly because of this show. But then again I'm a big fan of all corps.
nice. there's another vid here of this same take (center brings stix up a little too fast) from the tenors side but this one sounds sweet!- right out front. I finally get the bass lick. Not that hard but to keep smooth timing is tough... what's with the senior citizen reps in the background? Coat Alums?
haha your welcome! i've seen some of your bluecoat vids. so i assumed you marched and prolly new a lotta the guys on here. haha. one of my friends marched cavies and i always mess with him about it lol
Great battery. I don't think the bass drummers get enough recognition for the ridiculously hard splits they do. That triplet split was incredible and coming out of it was very clean. One of these days i would like to play bass in DCI. Good job bass line!
that quad break is just stupid clean
15 years later, still fucking great. So clean.
2:24 the first "YEA BOI" ever uttered
I think my favorite part is McIntosh laying on the ground...
paden richey yes homie, yes
It sounds like one guy ;;;;o
Wow, that snare line is clean. The basses are really amazing as well.

If only that could have been in my backyard.
Those basses come in and it’s just pure smooooth

Always come back to this, soooooo good
Smokin! That feature was just about perfect on finals night. Hardly any dirt and you guys really threw down some tough licks that old vets could appreciate. Good work bluecoats! Cant wait to see the 09 program.
Perfection. Great tuning, great writing, great performance.
Love the wet snares. Worn low and played with style. The Mcintosh Bluecoats were legit
This never gets old.
i am so impressed. this is one of my fav lines, so musical!
0:01-0:15 "No, she wasn't ready!!!"
this was incredible. I now love this drumline.
That snare sound...so good

holy shit dats one of the best basslines ive seen in awhile..good work
beautiful bass sound!!!
My absolute favorite drum feature ever.
this is simply excellent. Good lord.
one of the cleanest snare lines ever...so much demand, so much clarity, 8 vets
My dream is jus play bass and have, music has always been my escape, and i love the bass drum so much
Bluecoats: King of drum breaks.
Damn, looked into this show when i discovered drum corps about 4 years ago. Apparently our school bought their drums too. Wish we could be that clean
one of the greatest ever
Whats kinda cool, is I followed them from the parking lots all the way back into the woods where they were practicing. The whole time, they stayed in step, as if it were like...taking a sunday stroll through the park. But All in all. They are ONE OF my favorite drumlines
i dont know what they do but the sound of those basses is just delicious
This is the hardest snare book I have ever seen.
Dear God those bass splits! :DDDDDDDDD
SOOOOOO CLEAN!!!!!
I love this Split!
honestly i have to agree with you. probably my favorite corps
You kids threw down some notes in 08. IMPRESSIVE!! What can you say other than just flat out great playing and ears all around. Good season guys.
there's sheet music at the start and everything pretty much gets re-written throughout the season

Good job Love Truck with the bass line
the tuning is so perfect all across the board, snares are crispy and wet sounding, tenors are ringy, basses are boomy jshefjkesruhjertkuhrtkjnrt its amazing :D
i'm so excited...the audition music comes out on the 6th!! Hopefully they'll be just as good next year if not better
Basses have evolved so much since then
freakin clean! geeze!
2008 was such a good year for dci. so many good shows were in 08
best bassline ive EVER heard
Bassess sound amazing!

I think this will end of being one of my favorite books EVAR.
i love the visual at the end haha
gah, that is my jam!
yeah dude even back in 1988-89 bluecoats had a brutal bass line. Great overall drumline.
amazing bass line
One of dominant "holy crap" lot videos.

Honestly this is probably one of the cleanest lines dci has scene in a while.
Holy dang.
Well that's pretty good.
@diminishedsixth Its pretty much like a "percussion section solo." it's where just the battery/front ensemble are playing and the winds usually do a visual or something during it
This is perfect drumline tuning, all around
i love that little lick at 0:52
wow. pretty freakin flawless
Bassgasm!
still the best video on youtube.
Awesome bass part
Congrats on 3rd in drums!!
damn...the snares were so damn clean in this video oh my god
I can't wait to see what Mike has written for the Cavies. I am a big fan of the bluecoats mainly because of this show. But then again I'm a big fan of all corps.
I hope my neighbors enjoy this snare break as much as I do
Wish they would warm up in my back yard! Guess I need to move to Indy haha. Clean enough to eat off the floor!
Man those Basses
this is such a great break. bass feature is great but my hat is off to the snares and tenors. they owned!
oohhh yeahh
These tenors are good but the best tenor breaks of 2008 were the cadets and the cavaliers
that would have been the prefect lot, had one of the snares not brought his sticks up early at 1:00 =P
flawless music =DDD
They have one of the best pits in the activity. Hands down. Coming from somebody that marched in a pit competing with them.
@WGIfan
Yeah.
Damn.
So Tasty.
Love this line, and Love Mikey Mac Beats
could this possibly be any more amazing?
nice. there's another vid here of this same take (center brings stix up a little too fast) from the tenors side but this one sounds sweet!- right out front. I finally get the bass lick. I didn't know Flava Flav was in the audience at 2:25
"YEAAAA BOOIIII!!!!"
they play the most interesting and badass shit... mr judge, open for fucking eyes
dude that was pretty sexy. did not see that coming from the blue coats
sick bass line
YEAH BASS
god thats such a sexy bass feature
haha your welcome! i've seen some of your bluecoat vids. so i assumed you marched and prolly new a lotta the guys on here. haha. one of my friends marched cavies and i always mess with him about it lol
so damn tight....
cant wait to see what mike is gonna do with cavies next Season!!!!
lol holy crap! i didn't catch that the first time! thats funny
it's called subdividing. it's a pretty essential and basic part of all corps style bands and drumlines.
This line slaps so hard even Rick James won’t touch them.
i would LOVE to hear the judges tape for these guys.
I think the Bluecoats have the best bass runs
where have you been? it's 2008! bluecoats are becoming a percussion powerhouse.
sick
wooooo
1:15
only dirt in this whole video. Bluecoat are by far one of the cleanest, innovative lines these days.
pretty good sound on those snares. But tenors sounds funny ? Do they play with ambassador clean pinstripe ?
